If you watch the guy closely, he knows the basics of flyfishing, i.e., he is stripping the line, look at his stroke...his elbows are low and inside, his flyrod stops where the load point would be with a fly...your right. He is a guy who knows how to fly fish, but is actually trying to snag salmon. You should have called the game warden. In fact, he sort of looks nervous, constantly looking at the bank to see if anyone is watching. He is a poacher. I bet he's carrying.
I cant hate on this guy too much. I cant say tht ive never tried to snag fish. Now granted i wasnt using my fly rod and i wasnt fishing for salmon it was carp.

Bsides these guys are fun to watch but atleast try to give some helpful advice, maybe its because he is fustrated because he can't catch a fish after spending all that money on fines. You could of told him that leaded three prong hooks work much better with that technique.. hahaha

In my are we call the DNR Conservation Officers on obvious snaggers. They come out, they watch from a distance with their binoculars and if he is snagging they...take his fishing license, and make it so he can't get one the next year, will confiscate his fishing gear AND fine him.
Everyone starts somewhere. I am glad he is still doing it even when being filmed, he does not give a crap and he wants to learn. Can blame him for that.
