As a fan of a successful small market team in the early 2000s, I would see notice that two particular refs (Dick Bavetta and Joey Crawford, namely) consistently call fouls in favor of large market teams (particularly LA Lakers). Our betting circle actually allowed for changes in point spread based on the appearance of particular referees until tip off.
I stopped watching professional basketball after the 2002 WC Finals between the Kings and the Lakers. NBA is dead to me.
