I was just wondering if anyone can confirm the rumor that there will be plainclothes security guards placed randomly in the audience in KJ concerts. Evidently rumor has it that anyone making a disturbance (Phone, camera, coughing etc.) would be removed from the concert. Does anyone know if this is true and if so would your ticket price be refunded?
Quintessence du trio jazz : interaction, écoute réciproque, respect mais survol intelligent et sensible des harmonies. Les standards retrouvent un intérêt nouveau et excitant ... Du bonheur
@kerguirec I agree 100% with what you're saying. I read once that he was disheartened by the way standards were being played in the 80's and that's why he started recording standards. 30 some years later hasn't stopped and better than ever.
@teddypantelas The trio is great. IMO one of the best. JD, GP & KJ are incredible. When you listen to KJ's solo works, you realize how important GP and JD are. KJ by himself? Lots of notes, few memorable. The problem w/ the trio is that because of KJ the 30 years of standards are all pretty much the same. I did a compilation CD from the early years to current. GP& JD could play w/anyone. Were not dealing w/ Miles or 'Trane when it comes to KJ. IMO, vastly over rated. But if U like it enjoy!
@frody8pie the most beautiful thing is we are all entitled to our own opinion and all are equal. it's great to hear your view. I really mean it.
my thoughts when it comes to mastery of the instrument and phrasing Keith Jarrett is one of the greats like Trane and Miles. Even though I personally wish he would start playing originals again. I saw Paint My Heart Red and another called Rider, how refreshing that was. To me his writing is KJ too. His gift he's not sharing anymore - Why?
@teddypantelas oops! Hit the wrong button. My reply is above. I sent my reply to myself ! Again thanks for your kind note. I'll check your video over the weekend if the hurricane doesn't get in the way. Best regards. I'm sure you know this, but speaking of phrasing Miles, Kj, and most of the great players listened to Sinatra. I read an interview w/ Colman Hawkins. Think it was by N.Hentoff. He asked Hawk how he learned his phrasing. Hawkins pointed to a pile of Sinatra records. Best of Luck
@frody8pie Thanks for your kind note. Enjoy the music. If it makes you feel good, that's great! That's the magic of music. I'm looking forward to checking out your music also. Be well. Best regards.
Thanks, had the recording for years now but never saw it. I always thought the very last bit would have visual queues on those hits but damn, all by feel. This trio never fails to amaze!
This album blew the doors of what my concept of jazz was. I was seriously addicted to this album....I listened to it every night before going to bed in college. The interaction between the trio was such an eye opener. Listening to Jack's creativity and "open" playing left me in awe of his sensitivity and implied time.

he / they are simply the greatest interpreter of standards in piano trio format. I fantasise about playing like that...
