The idea that this is a giant Venus illusion is just ridiculous. That combined with a once in a lifetime siezure? And this is the mostly likely explanation?? Really??? And I should buy his book to read more of this dribble???? I don't think so.
When in doubt, you can still blame it on the Daleks. :-)) But honestly, it's one of the few supposed UFO cases which is really mysterious and hard to solve. I believe Taylor must have experienced something strange, though whether the objects he encountered actually existed is anyone's guess. The giant Venus refraction idea under the existing conditions is incredibly unlikely, as pointed out by the two astronomers. Still, the theory about him having a weird seizure, etc. isn't as far-fetched.
at guy campbell talks sum pish....astro mirage>>>get a grip alien..i stay in livingston very close to that site,,gotta say a wid love ta c summit like that
It's a FACT Campbell did not fully investigate this case. He did the same with the Bonnybridge sightings and didn't investigate them properly either! He was absent at all of the important meetings with Bonnybridge witnesses, I know this as we helped SPI to gather evidence from the hundreds of witnesses who turned up! .....Thankfully no one takes this guy seriously!......Thanks Bob for having the courage to tell it as it was!
Please note that the documentary's idea of the miraged image is foolish. Mirages cannot appear in the middle of forests like that! Instead, the mirage had to be visible above the horizon, along Taylor's line of sight.
Venus is known to be visible in daytime. Superior mirages do exist. Campbell has shown (in his book) that the meteo conditions were such so as to create a curved temperature profile and a temp inversion. The AMH is more realistic than some imaginery alien spacecraft!
One should not judge the quality of Campbell's explanation without previously reading his book! There, a valid scientific hypothesis is put forward, which in my opinion explains the Livingstone incident adequately.
That Campbell guy is really messed up or something, his theory is the most idiotic thing i've ever heard, he is so living in his own world that he rather believe someone saw a Mirage of an NOT vissible planet, then accept the fact there really could have been a UFO, that in my opinion is more believeble than a freakin mirage!!!!
I think that everyone whos interested in UFOs should read Campbell's book. Campbells AMH is backed up by the data (meteorological conditions, azimuth and altitude of the planet Venus, Bob Taylors line of vision, etc). Why is it so hard to believe that Taylors saw a mirage of Venus? Surely, this rare natural phenomenon is a more likely explanation than an alien craft! Occams razor makes it easy to exclude the UFO hypothesis.
Because his explanation is even dumber and illogical then the real story, if you believe his explanation of venus then watch the video a min longer you will find out that venus was not even vissible that day at that time.
Debunkers try to make up stupid stories so they can close a chapter if its to hard to understand for them.
@regiusalt no, Occams razor does not make it easy to exclude the UFO hypothesis. Campbell jumps to too many unproven conclutions... Taylor had a once in a lifetime epileptic seizure (never happened before in medical history) and the mirage theory which has never before been reported or seen.
The problem is that Mr. Campbell is not a UFO sceptic, he is a UFO denier like you. A sceptic person is still open to the possibility that it may have been a UFO. UFO does not mean little green men and such.
I find it quite sad that an obvious intellectual is so convinced of his own theories that he believes them to be implicitly true. To even suggest the theories that he does, borders on the realm of mental disorder... Quite preposterous! And downright rude to boot... The only thing I'd use one of Campbell's books for is lighting a fire!
It appears to me that skeptics/debunkers and individuals like Campbell probably feel terrified and helpless by the thought that humanity is not an apex species, not even close when compared to the vastness of the Universe.
Campbell and those like him fill their egos with self anointed superiority and what happened to Taylor threatens all that.
Isn't it amazing how the explanations that skeptics/debunkers cobble together, when they are grasping at air and unable to understand the event, are completely ridiculous and absurd than event itself?
Instead of following the evidence Campbell haphazardly strings together flimsy explanations that would be like Bob Taylor hitting a hole in one, finding a 4 leaf clover, and winning the lotto all the same day.
@TheJunkass have you ever been there i have and yes there was still nothing growing there when we went there as kids.Ridiculous is the right word i think the guy just wonted to be on tv.

The application of the Occam's razor should favour the AMH over the UFO hypothesis.
