It should also be noted that she was nothing like as big a star at the time of her death as she has become subsequently. Like so many other "icons" death was a good career move. She had a bad child hood, three failed marriages and the press hounding her every movement. A lot of stuff that non movie stars want to keep private, were full blasted in the press. So no, her life probably was more tragic then perfect, but I don't believe she killed herself.

I've read everywhere that the first officer that was on the scene at her bedroom said that there was no way she killed herself...it just looked like a crime scene to him. AND all the phone calls that went on that night (before and after her death).
...I personally think it could have been accidental suicide. BUT the stuff that went on at that house (as it's been written about and from what the witnesses say) just doesn't add up.

Yes she was good looking (although the plastic surgeon can take some credit for that.) But role model? I think not. 99% of us, including me, have to live with ordinary or indifferent looks. Yet we seem to get by for all that - mostly without the tantrums and hang ups which characterised her. She never acted in the theatre and never won any film acting awards. As in so many cases people fall for a carefully created image, not the real person.

She's definitely a role model. She was beautiful & still had so much to offer, she was VERY intellegent, she acted dumb because she knew that's what the media wanted. The real Marilyn was a role model, not so much the Hollywood Marilyn that acted dumb.. but hell, she was an actress afterall.

She didn't like the carefully created image she was (which she was fully aware of). Just do a little research and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think that's why a lot of people respect her and look up to her. Could be other reasons. Also->don't agree on surgery part, people would be making money off of surgery records...but there isn't any. (nose job was for health hazard)

It should also be noted that she was nothing like as big a star at the time of her death as she has become subsequently. Like so many other "icons" death was a good career move. Obviously she was a lot more intelligent that she appeared on screen, but this intelligence never got in the way of her noted unprofessionalism on set.
