How exactly does Obama want to "rebuild the taliban"?? He would propose a 'surge' in Afghanistan with troops from Iraq! He would try to strengthen those forces over there, you know, the forgotten war. We're focusing so much on Iraq we seem to have forgotten about Afghanistan or Afghan insurgents.
Of course, when you look at the facts and the history, you realize we could greatly reduce the terrorist threat and make this easier on ourselves by not digging ourselves into a hole.

We focus so much on 'defense' abroad that we don't build it here at home quite often enough. Do we really need hegemony and empire? I think not. Having all these bases and troops in over 130 countries only serves to overextend us and stretch us thin. It does little to provide for real security. We DON'T have to be everywhere at any time to keep our freedom! That is a fallacy. If we build our own 'fortress' here at home, it'll be much more impenetrable, and we'll be much less vulnerable to attack than if we go around putting military bases on every continent.
