  • wow!!Faith is what it takes>

  • My favorite old school gospel song....

  • Many are called but FEW are chosen, that's why some are gifted while others are mediocre now Type in BobTyranT and check him out NOW & let's get this movie made right!

  • Thank you posting this rendition of "Touch The Hem of His Garment" by Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers. I could close my eyes and listen to this song for hours and hours. I am truly transported to a tranquil and comforting place. I truly am moved by the music that Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers did together! Extraordinary and deeply moving!

  • This is a truly great song, But remember he also sang other great gospel songs

    with the stirrers.

  • A timelass classic

  • Lord ya'll! God gave us Sam Cooke and Michael Jackson never to be replaced. What more proof we need there IS a God. Only The Creator could have come up with Heavenly voices, tones and talent such as this. And as for you unbelievers? That's alright. You don't have to believe in gravity either; but, just try jumping your "unbelieving" silly but off the top of the Empire State Building, ok? You ain't got no wings. So, believe it or not? Your silly but going down! Disbelieve (like parking). All U!

  • @blewis9505 And if I don't believe that God gave those men their gift then I'm a non-believer? Why would I believe that my God doesn't treat everyone the same? Why did God choose these people to have a great talent and not you or me? Just asking.

  • O Lord....this man was truly gave a blessing through the gift of his voice....

  • @1812richardk2 Hi Rick...Amen! Peace :-) Denise

  • I am so blessed by this wonderful man , my soul is blessed every time i hear him sing, i testified in church Sunday about touching the hem of his garment, OH HOW I LOVE THE LORD, because he saved me and he has never let me down, I pray for the people who never know the Savior who gives us so much love in just a song or a touch or a kind word or deed. Sing Sam

  • I'm only 28 years old and I'm not a christian, but I'll listen to Sam Cooke sing this song all damn day.

  • Never has a more beautiful tune been sung

  • I am thinking of my beautiful wife who is fighting cancer right now. Oh Lord save my Debbie!

  • I absolutely LOVE this song. I'm 25 and for some reason I've always enjoyed the older songs over the new stuff, even when I was a little girl. Its still nothing like an old gospel song...no matter what! I've tried to find this song everywhere...couldn't quite remember the group's name but then I suddenly remembered "The Soul Stirrers" and then it all came back to me! Love, Love, Love this song!!!!

  • this is me ,im sick with a drinking problem.i need jesus but he never listen to me

  • @petersprize Jesus always listens.. remain faithful and wait patiently for His answer

  • @petersprize He does listen. He hears the very cry and plea of your heart. When you become broken before him its then when he can pick up those pieces and put you back together. Cry out to God in sincerity and in the very depth of your heart. There's nothing too bad that you have done or are doing (if you will come to him with it, leave it with him and turn from it) that he cannot fix...he's waiting on you friend...don't deny Him this opportunity!

  • the greatest of all time!!!!!!

  • My mom played this song all the time when I was little. I'm so glad I grew up listening to Sam Cooke. He is my all-time favorite artist. You can always understand the words he is singing and with such powerful emotions! I can actually visualize a story from any of his songs.

  • @aurorasky19 my mother played this too while i was growing up

  • Beautiful!!!

  • This is one of my fav Sam Cooke & Soul Stirrer songs period; so much power and soul in this song. This song just shows you what God can do.

  • my fav cooke song. he was heading to the recording studio in a cab with his producer when his producer told him he didn't have enough material prepared. Sam said hand me the Bible, flipped through and found this story and wrote this song. he recorded it when he got to the studio. Praise the Lord

  • @saboy63 Wow I had no idea that is how this song came about; I love this song.

  • martin luther ?

  • this is such a wonderful song. sam cook was truly one of the greatest singers of his time .

  • This man invented soul and in my opinion he had one of the greatest voices in recorded music.

  • Sam Cooke's voice is just the illest, remarkable work of art in itself. I just can't believe how oblivious to his very existence my generation is... not knowin that he's the GREATEST MUSICIAN to eva blow a melody.

  • @mspack

That's a very selfish attitude. I'm glad he sang other styles of music and in doing so he was a massive influence on soul music even after his sadly premature death.

  • @Foadiafya Sam made some great non-Gospel songs. It really bothers me when people criticize artist for breaking out of gospel. I just wish more artist these days started in the church and I wish church music ministry really taught like they used to

  • @Foadiafya I meant to start that off with I completely agree with you

  • "you know maybe if he had just devoted his life to singing songs for the Lord he wouldn't have had a premature death, because instead of chasing after a female and being drunk he wouldn't have been in the perdicament he was in. END OF DISCUSSION. "

    Thanks mspack!

  • one of my favorite songs of all time

  • THE LORD WILL HILL YOU

  • @pastor2184

Is that supposed to be 'kill' or 'heal'?

  • Sam seems to be able to take the pain away. I appreciate that.

  • @141Jessy The man was annointed to sing....Cooke

  • A gospel classic!

  • Mark: Chapter 5 Verses 22 to 34.

    Praise The Lord!

  • Just an amazing voice and song

  • I purchased Sam's Soul Stirrers albumn from the bargain section of our Meijers store 10 years ago. This is my favorite albumn of all times.

  • I am not the least bit religious, however this is one of my all time favorite songs, and it nearly always makes me well up, but ONLY when Sam sings it!!

  • I remember hearing Sam & the Soul Stirrers going to Church on Sunday with my Father & Brother, beautiful song, beautiful memories.

  • I love this song, it hits so close to home for me, "If I could just touch the hem of his garment, I know I'll be made whole" Lord I feel this way.

  • i love all sam cooke

  • i play this in my car really loud

  • IF, I JUST TOUCH THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT.

  • Happy birthday Sam.

  • One of the best!!!

  • This was my first solo song back in the day when I was like 7 and i'm only 32 now and still remember it just like yesterday :)

Brings back great memories! Miss the toe tapping music of my old country church!

  • Thanks Sam...

  • believeit or not i fit this song.I am always sick and in out of the hospital.

  • Listening to this song makes me think of going to church in the old south on sunday morning back in the 1950's.

  • I'm still here in the Ol South and still enjoy this kinda singing in Church...Come on back for a bit of it. Does the soul real good.

  • Sam Cooke is one of the best artists of all time.

  • this song just completely touches my soul so deep .. beautiful!

  • what r the chords?

  • I live for this song and this performace in particular.

  • I love this song especially when my aunt marjorie sings it no one can sing it like her and sam cooke

  • Amazing!

  • A beautiful song. I love it.

  • i Love it. My Mom loves to play this song, I learned the words in like two listens....so touching. His voice is amazing.

  • Sam Cooke needed a song to add to an upcoming performance. He used the bible for a reference and wrote this song riding in the car.

  • That's talent! I love me some Same Cooke!

  • Brilliant song, musical brilliance.

  • it's some sweet sounds going down on the night shift

  • The best gospel/pop record of all time. I think it was made in 1956.

  • WOW! Passion!

  • I once posted this but it was hit with the copyright claim:(
