My mom played this song all the time when I was little. I'm so glad I grew up listening to Sam Cooke. He is my all-time favorite artist. You can always understand the words he is singing and with such powerful emotions! I can actually visualize a story from any of his songs.

my fav cooke song. he was heading to the recording studio in a cab with his producer when his producer told him he didn't have enough material prepared. Sam said hand me the Bible, flipped through and found this story and wrote this song. he recorded it when he got to the studio. Praise the Lord
