Forgot to say it used to be a YMCA for women back in the 1930's and has been used in many TV Shows.

They filmed there when i stayed :)

It was famously seen in the Tom Cruise film Collateral where towards the end of the film the Taxi flips out and over turns right outside the entrance..

i Stayed here in August 2008 and loved it..

The whole place has a Very Tunisian / Moroccan charm to it..

I took my 2 children with me and although the room was small the rest of the Hotel made up for it and hey you only need a room to sleep in.

I chose it for its Central LA positioning as we were there for two weeks and travelled all over LA and the surrounding area..

Great Hotel,friendly staff and the Swimming pool area is a treat to cool off in the summer sun.

Planning to go back this year ..

BUT if you are looking for a not-la-like hotel, then visit FIG. to be strange means not to be bad :) i bet in the area of LA you dont find a hotel like this anymore....

I think that is a fair assessment. This hotel is NOT a typical Los Angeles hotel of the 21st century. It is what hotels were like perhaps 80 years ago, in the early days of Hollywood. So, if it is the ambiance, adventure and nostalgia you seek, see the Hotel Figueroal.

we stayed jere in sept. 2008 and its a strange hotel. some rooms are real fucked up, partly the windows are not very secure. forget it if you wanna visit this hotel with children.....

the location itself suxx if you dont have a car. dont use the figueroa hotel own parkspace for your car. park your car at the parkplace next to the fig hotel. costs at fig: 12$/day, next to fig: 6$/day.
