  • "kinda hard to see" the large print across the screen really helps

  • @coop422 I was hoping you'd like it. Also, if you go to the URL you'll see that the videos there (as well as all of our new videos) do not have the URL across the middle.

  • @TechniquePrevails Thank you

  • This wont work at my gym unless there's a new guy. We're taught if the guy on bottom clasps his hands to block the armbar use your foot to push his arms away and break his grip

  • Wish I would have known this BEFORE I got armbard all the time when I started.

  • Love your videos, thanks for the tip :)

  • i have been training BJJ for many years now and i have found placing the foot under the ribs vs over the chest more efficient because you can apply lift to your opponents shoulder. seeing this i might be a little more careful of that. i have managed to get this escape to work a couple of times like it is shown in the video but most of the time i end up in either north/south or side mount. thanks for the excellent escape guys. keep it up

  • this is is freakin awsome

but when i roll everybody puts their leg over my chest.

  • nice technique, we will drill this one, Thanks

  • nice reply, can't believe the amount of arm chair critics!

  • If you need to find all the stupid wannabe non-training squids, look no further than the comments section of these kinds of videos...

  • nice but if both lags are on your chest you gona have to fight one on closest to face to do a twist stack as option

  • ^^Agree with OP. You will eventually find yourself in plenty of situations where not both legs are across your chest. As a counter to an armbar without both legs across you this is pretty cool. Thanks.

  • This works, I pulled it off rolling yesterday

  • seriously, a lot of armbars are set up like this, and yeah, this escape is still really hard to pull off, but it's an escape none the less.

  • @mmafan400 Agreed, i guess you kind of have to have the fitness to pull it off to, still its pretty kick ass.

  • i understand that u can only use it when their leg's not over ur chest but still that is a NINJA ass move //////its cool as hell

  • to all the dumb asses that are saying this wont work because of all the armbars that have both legs across the chest...the technique is the same if it does happen...but instead of rolling all the way over...you end up in a stack

  • you guys deliver again )) thank you

  • love it, great move :)

  • Comment removed

  • that move will work if you can see yourself about to be put into the armbar

  • love it!

  • This very cool. It would be funny to see both guys continuously flipping over one another in this attempt until somebody got dizzy and just passed out lol

*B. Buffer - Winner by passout via rolling circles..*

  • lol i thought it was funny how you had to tell the commenters the same things over and over again, great vid thumbs up

  • That`s good to have as an option!

  • just watching this makes me want to have somebody try to put my in an armbar where one leg wasn't over my chest!

  • there are MANY times when this will be useful. in fact not only is this escape useful but so is that type of armbar. if you catch your shin just under your opponents back it will create more leverage and usually get a faster tap or break, depending on your situation. and that's why these techniques are important, because situations change.

  • verrry sweeeeet yo

  • This is a good technique to practice and can actually be turned into a flow drill.

  • GOOD TIP

  • nah, the legs are often forgotten in the heat of the fight...but I think most armbars go too fast to walk out...the opponent won't wait until you walked out with pulling/ripping on your arms (if they are clasped)

  • @LLuuuK do you even train? i do and you never ever forget to try to walk your hips to a better position

  • @estafuego8807

jep I do =), but grappling is only a part of my training, have to learn a lot and make it more automatically (like the walking out thing =D)...

  • That was cool and a little crazy at the same time.

  • clearly some people watch ufc and dont understand that not all armbars have the double legs over, in bjj my frequent use of the armbar i prefer my foot next to the armpit and both knees touching, so in my case this would work well against my armbar however sometimes it differs on the scenario, there is no "bad tip" due to the fact that there he has shown if ur in that position he clearly got out of it, just because in ufc they do the double leg over doesnt mean it happens in all bjj, he knows!

  • bad tip cuz there legs will usually be over ur chest so it would be hard to move

  • @matt10413 You've never found yourself in an armbar where both legs weren't over your chest? Never from under side control, butterfly guard, falling armbar, etc? Bc yes- if both legs are across, it requires a different escape. However, the more you grapple, the higher the chances are that you'll find someone who will set up an armbar where both legs won't be across the chest. Therefore- it's not necessarily a "bad tip."

  • @TechniquePrevails Regardless of what everyone says or thinks, this is a good escape. I've used this escape hundreds of times with about a 70% success rate. The key is to always be two steps ahead of your opponent. If you can manage that you will be able to escape this Japanese Jiu Jitsu style armbar. Props bro!!

  • @TechniquePrevails, its a great tip and ive been practicing, ive done about 100 reps sp far, its been coming out in practice, thanks.

  • @matt10413 there are tons of situational escapes just like there are multiple side escapes for the different types of side control positions its not a bad tip at all its actually really legit i actually train jiu jitsu apparently you dont or youd know there are a lot of situations mostly from side controll you could end up with an armbar with a shin in their ribs

  • thats a pretty badass escape from the armbar ....

  • never seen that done b4 i will try at 2nite

  • great video i'll make sure to use this next time i training with ground work

does anybody know any bjj institues near yakima-portland cuz i'm in that area and need to train with a professional

i know i have a stupid screename..my cousin made this for me

  • this will help mw so much lol my friend is a lot bigger than me, and i cant get him in any submissions without being thrown off, and all he ever goes for is armbars lol now i might actually be able to win

  • this is awesome! definitely gonna try this the next time i end up in this position

  • If a fighter did this in a main card UFC fight, they would be an instant legend. Awesome maneuver.

  • this move looks great, but it's not applicable if your opponent has both his legs over your chest, 'locking' you, am i right?

  • That's correct, but there are many times when that scenario doesn't happen.

  • You need to try perform this escape before that happens, as you feel him working for it.

  • THATS SICK!!!

  • Hi man,

    I like your work!

I do want to ask you one thing though,

is there any escape from a Reverse Armbar??? (reverse armbar from guard and/or side control ,that is)

    Thanx

  • I've used this myself as an escape, but not to land an armbar of my own. The backroll works but the armbar at the end of it seems like it'd be low percentage.

  • great!

  • this one looks easy..takes some practice tho!

  • This 1 is ok. THe ecsape itsefl works sometimes but to roll into an armbar atttempt that is even half decent is low %.

  • this helps alot man

    thanks

  • I think damien maia shows a similar technique in his dvd's. Either way I like this one!

  • First off, there are MANY times when a "good BJJ guy" will use more advanced setups for the armbar that do NOT result in the bottom leg being over. Is this technique fail-proof? No. I'm yet to find anything that is 100%. This is a very difficult and low percentage technique- but is one more option to escape the armbar. The easiest and best counter for any sub is to NOT GET IN IT to begin with. But if you do get in it, there are techs like this one to help you get out!

  • Nice! Can you show an escape when the opponent has both legs over you?

  • I tried it, it doesnt work with both legs over you because you can not get parallel with the opponent, instead ur stuck at perpendicular and can't get the leverage to flip up.

  • good move, good instruction. I like your vids and will subscribe.

Keep em coming and thank you

  • thats awesome. definitely going to start trying that.

and for the guy saying there is too much pressure to flip the other guy, who cares? if you don't hit the roll you're still in a position where you can easily turn into his guard. not as dominant as a counter armbar, but at least he doesnt have your arm anymore

  • i could have used this vid about 4 months ago, check out chris ade vs greg welsh... that guy almost took my arm 4 a trophy

  • same counter Demian Maia shows in his instructional video.

  • Never seen Maia's set, but I'm sure it's good. Enjoy!

  • but usually both legs are accross the body, and therefor it will be hard to roll over

  • Not necessarily true... There are many instances where the shin is along the ribs during the armbar. For instance: falling armbar; armbar from underneath side mount; armbars from transitional positions; etc.

Thanks for watching though. Check out the site!

  • cant wait to try this on the mat

  • that is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.I hate crap like this. If the arm bar is done right there is enough pressure to keep him down.

  • Haha-- that being the case, then why ever train any escape for any position/submission? Because when they are applied fully and correctly, they are meant to submit/control you! I guess I should give on up any and all escapes. Thanks for opening my eyes to this concept!

  • gr8 move

  • WOW!!! That was an awsome escape, thanks a lot and keep rolling guys, all your videos are blowingme away i´m gonna rate it 5 stars

    Greetings from Mèxico

  • Pure Excellence! Speechless..... someone's gonna get reversed real sooon..THANKS!

  • I don't see how this would work if you opponent actually did a good armbar. The "armbar" set up in this video only has one leg across your neck, if he had the other leg across your chest it'd seem impossible to backroll...

  • You don't know of any armbar setups where the bottom leg is not across the chest? There's dozens of setups that end in this style of armbar, and I would urge you to explore some of them. There are quite a few at the site, so check them out!

  • The perfect time for this escape is when an opponent goes for a far side arm bar from knee on belly. That is a basic sub and this is a great counter.

  • there's always an escape as there is a sub for that escape... we just got to keep learning and improving...

  • Great counter, thanks guys.

  • Wow this is a thing of beauty where did you learn this from and/or how did you discover this?

  • Many, many hours on the mats, my friend. Glad you're enjoying the videos, and please register an account at the site.

    -Richard

  • WOW! thats bloody brilliant! :D

  • this is perfect for me, cause in my bjj classes my friend pulls an armbar on me and i have to tap

  • Very nice escape!
