  • rowter

  • hi, its work & any old router or specific one , thanx.

  • This works if your Router's have wifi repeating function.. does this guy mention that your Repeated Signal is half the speed as the original Router speed?

  • Ohhhhh Stop!!! -- phewww

  • excellent! i subscribed because of this

  • is it possible to repeat a Netgear router using a Belgin (G) router? kind of a stupid question right? but if it is can u also show us how? and if you do, maybe slow down a bit? :)

  • my router they dont have it :( alcatel lucent

  • With all the numbers you could have used, you used 69.

    Ok.

  • breathe man

  • holy shit DOT slow down DOT fuck it! DOT enter!

  • Get a real OS.

  • I got lost after 0:04

  • But what if your living in a van down by the river?

  • @MrAndy0811 Best reply I've seen in a long time! hA

  • @MrAndy0811 Classic Farley shit is always appreciated with wide grins!

  • Was that a green screen at the start?

  • Dude when I did this it said there is two different tftp packeges :( what do i do?

  • Or you could just buy a brand new wireless repeater for $25.. which is cheaper than buying a used Asus wl520gu and turning it into one :-)

  • @perryinjax but if you just replaced a router its pretty handy, so the old one doesn't just collect dust.

  • The video could be complicated to understand for "noobs." I would suggest reading the peacock at your leisure and then installing the firmware for your router after a good day or two of TRULY understanding what is happening with the flash process. It really is easier than trying to comprehend this video. DDWRT rocks - just read the peacock first!

  • Finally, a Linux guide.

  • or just buy a router

  • not the guide i seeked for, my router is too old for this to work... even the firmware is not updatable, guess i better buy a kit and link the house antenna to the router... then we will see the SSID in the otherside of the town... like hotspot from anyware... not sure if it works though XD

  • Need a guide like this for windows 7 o_0

  • @DizzeeSpellzTV

they almost allways have a tutorial where you get the firmware, and an advice if your original router firware is working fine dont do it

  • whaaaat?

  • why do you need of changing the ip address of the repeater router at all?

  • @bnjmnclt to avoid Ipv4 conflicts

  • nice now i don't have to buy a stupid Xbox wireless thingy.

  • :O

  • does anyone know if the ethernet ports on the repeater would still work? so, would i be able to hard wire a device with no wifi card into the repeater?

  • @centorio THIS is exactly what i would like to know, ive got my repeater set up to my other router and can connect to it via wireless but dont know how to connect to the repeater via wired...

  • @Vladflame You do the exact same thing in this video but instead of "Repeater" change it to "Repeater Bridge".

  • @XvEmoKittyvX Do you have to have dd-wrt on the primary router or just the one that im using as the repeater everything is the same in this vid apart from the bridge. Im still not getting an internet connection. how do i know if my repeater is connnected to my other router?

  • @Vladflame If you need help, PM me your email and I will guide you... Just to warn you I have a very basic understanding about this, but I do know what I am doing.

  • Stop saying router wrong.

  • i have wifi and on my modem my wlan and internet icons dont stay on and day used to now my internet is slow as and wen ever i go to upload a video now instead of 10 mins remaining it says stuff like 1110 mins remaining so i just quit can u plz help me and now it takes like 30 minutes just to load a 3 minute video dat im watchin and i cant download stuff like google chrome or update my softwware it just pauses .i have a new computer i got last month and i have windows 7 plz help plz plz plz plz

  • Hey... i've an old D-link G3170i and i want to use has repeater, but the dd-wrt does not have this router :( do you know another web site like dd-wrt i can finde the software to this piece of crap??? now i have a thomson TG737 and the signal cant cover the entier home... so i want to use this as repeater... reply soon pls!

  • Regardless is Windows or any Linux distribution I never got it why you had to flash the original router's firmware and install the DD-WRT one - this time in Linux - using a terminal window when you could've get into its menu using its configuration IP?! Why did you make it more complicated when it could've been simpler?!

  • Sitting outside in the run looks fun.

  • i love how the intro was recorded with a green screen

  • SMart guy and good tut but a bit fast for some people

  • @Mw2Gameplay192 "noobs be warned"

  • sweet ubuntu is the best.

  • At 3:04 you say "connect 192.168.1.1" but you write connect 192.168.69.1

  • @TheNickspower youre one of the noob, do what he says out of his mouth.

  • is it possible to do this with a windows pc?

  • wat if u have mac

  • i use linux ;)

  • @GamerzDream you think ubuntu is windows / mac... then you better not use it.

  • u got the same computer i have omg this is awesome!!

  • I did everything explained on the video and I do see the network on the list, however it is a "local only" network without internet. Do I need to set up more parameters in order for the internet to kick in? Thanks

  • Does anyone know if I could use this on a password-protected network, making it unprotected?

  • A guide to making so that they have the same SSID and the computer switches between networks without user input would be wonderful and very much appreciated.

  • Oh you just used a second router as a teather.....there are alot more simple ways of doing this you know? :P

  • this can also be done running on VM ware

  • This worked like a charm with my Belkin F5D7230-4 v1112. I still followed along with the hardware specifics off the Dd-Wrt wiki just to be safe...but this was EXCELLENT. thanks so much!

  • i got a Linksys wireless-G acces Point, model Wap54g 3.1. it is supported but there is no firmware for it, can i use it then?

  • @TheSkulltear he is using Ubuntu 10.04

  • It looks like you recorded this via WiFi!

  • @gigafide what version of Ubuntu are you using?

  • Pretty cool - how about boosting 4g signal? Dish antennae from outside into home?

  • @maluminse1 you need to by a special kit for that

  • @maluminse1 yes ... it possible . There actually a product cost like 300 buck. that boost cell phone signal by placing 1 atenna inside and 1 inside... and connect into a box that look like a wifi router

  • GigaFide What i can do when my router isn't in the list ??

  • @crocapy1 u cant use that router.

  • @faxmanloveswaffles lol know that :D

  • how do you go about installing the live cd for ubuntu

  • @marcushutsler u just put it in and hit install of u can dual boot it next to your windows os with a program that comes on the disk

  • 0:38 awwww poop

  • aslong as you have a command prompt why do you need umbunto?

  • my router is not there help :)

  • @gigafide - what's the loop you use on your videos? I really like it :)

  • what dock and theme are you using?

  • so noobs be warned

  • if i do this.. will i my phone/laptop switch uninterrupted between the two connections? or does it consider this two hotspots as separated?

  • i will try to do that, when i get some old router, but as i know you can install this firmwire in router admin section under upgrade firware ;) you dont need linux...

  • @ 3:07 you said 192.168.1.1 but you typed in 192.168.69.1 is there something I missed?

  • i have the same laptop as you cool

  • @nlkrazycat ur gay

  • Haha you messed up at 3:07

  • @trilobit3339

Then why did you even watch the video?

  • @techbeast34 i know right? like if you aren't into techy stuff like this, then why would you even bother watching the video, then taking the time to make a pointless comment.

  • you guys are the biggest dorks EVER

  • this reminds me of tht at&t commercial with the really long invisible cord XD

  • friend your my kind acer laptop FTW ^^

  • Ima go buy bout 10 routers hook them up to a drop cord system and run the signal bout 1500 feet from my house.

  • how many times can this be repeated?

  • What laptop, brand and model you have?

  • why not use a 10 dbi screw on antenna!.......works for me

  • oooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk???????????????????

  • at 3:13 he sais 192.168.1.1 but he writes 192.168.69.1

  • @psp3602 Nobody is perfect!

But this dude is almost, then we speak about copmuters and linux

  • @PtxDK yeah i know he help us all and asks nothing in return

  • @psp3602 now ho the is fucking relevant

  • @psp3602 now how the is fucking relevant

  • @MrTrespilas now how the is fucking relevant? how the fuck does that make any sence? and why the fuck are you arguing to me for no reason!

  • man you're so smart!

  • im 50000 viewer ubuntu FTW!

  • alight so you just have 2 routers connected together and at each side of the house so it just expands the range kinda useless .... why not get an better antenna to boost the range then changing all the settings just to amplify the signal to boost the range

  • "Two of my favourite things to do are surfing the web, and relaxing outside" - Rainy outside.

  • linux is like the Xbox vs. PS3, linux us the by stander, like the wii.

  • you could always just delete stystem32

  • Ok. So if there is 1 ar, this will make it like 5 bars?

  • tyty man been wating for something like this for a long while ty i mean it [ i subbed]

  • omg i did this even im always in my room i recieved 15 wifi connections but sadly with passw hhaha

  • nice but... you'll need to have a power station near the router... so I guess it's much easier and less painful to make a yagui anthena from a Pringles can and use a usb wifi car inserted into it so now... I reach even further, with directional discretion and the plus of being more mobile... don't you agree?

we could even make it a base to held it at the laptop's screen back!!!

  • ummm ok pretty genious...OR if your not a computer whiz you could just use a bridge and save a ton of time and hassel. :p

  • @Multiscape247 Oh dude, no fair :p

  • u used 69.. oh the irony

  • hey man You are a genius!

  • Fantastic!

    ~ GRANDUSER1000

  • can you make a video How to Install Ubuntu on Bootcamp :) , i don't wanna Parallels or other Virtualization!

  • You're a nerd, but I really appreciate you :)

  • Thats a lot of waiting....

  • So, how do you make a back lit keyboard? or can you use a beer can or coat hanger to boost the signal?

  • So, how do you make a back lit keyboard?

  • Hey i have a Verizon router and i herd from forums that if i put dd-wrt on it i could brick it and lose Video On demand is that true?

  • @louis2608 It sounds like something they made up, but don't mess with it if you're not sure yourself. Do a little looking around on craigslist for a Linksys WRT54g router. If you can find one that's version 4[labelled on the bottom], that's the one I used.

  • @iggy151 I dont understand your comment " Its sounds like somthing theymade up" who is they and what are you talking about?

  • @louis2608 Don't put ubuntu on the verizon router. Get a different router. You will be using 2 routers for this. The second router repeats the Verizon signal.

  • @dahozabich um this video isnt about puting ubuntu on a router... routers dont have enoph ram for ubuntu and i dont think you can , unless you ment dd-wrt

  • You should do your tutorials in windows so its easier to follow for 90% of ppl, not 1%.

  • @rahmanroni just downlaod ubuntu with a program callled wubi its alot easyer o get ubuntu just keep ubuntu on there to follow him and when you want to remove ubuntu unistall it like a program ..

  • @louis2608 I know wubi, but whose gonna go out of their way to install ubuntu, even through wubi? It just makes so much sense to just do it on windows and provide a link or a text guide for Linux since most ppl who use linux already know how to work command lines and find their way around.

  • @youarefawkinretarded

I've only used the Ubuntu live CD a few times and have never used it on an installed machine, but I can still tell you that this is one of gigafide's few tutorials that I didn't get completely lost in and could probably do. If I had that router and a bit more confidence, I could probably get this done in under an hour, which probably takes less time than setting up a new router. Plus you feel awesome.

  • @GamerzDream

Ubuntu is not Windows or Mac is it a Linux operating system which is based on the Unix operating systems. Unix is before the time of the Windows operating system. Linux has nothing to do with either Windows or Mac operating systems. Many versions of the Linux operating system including Ubuntu are available to download for free through the operating systems web site. Even the philosophy of Linux is completely different than Mac or Windows.

  • @bludstem

I know not literaly its just a lil combanation it looks like both,

  • @bludstem I make Unix and Ubuntu disks, now switching to Fedora. Isn't it great that it is free??

  • @bludstem

    Is Mac based off Unix?

  • @tdoggdaplaya no.

  • @sjoerd94

Yes it is, Mac is based off UINX not ubuntu or any other UINX OS, It is the core of uinx that mac was build off of, that is why the most commands are in mac and ubuntu.

  • @bludstem I believe OSX is UNIX based..

  • @bludstem no shit! and actually Ubuntu and mac do have something to do with each other...Because guess what!? Mac is based off of Ubuntu..whoooaa!

  • @TheVariousArtists1 your an idiot, mac is UNIX not LINUX so they are not in common and mac is not based off of ubuntu...

  • @bludstem Actually, I beleive Mac OS X is built off of Unix...

  • Ubuntu is windows and mac i plan on going to it
