Dan Wheldon has at least finally been given some recognition and respect in his home country. I know, because I'm from his home country. When Dan won his two Indy 500s and the Indycar title, hardly anyone here raised an eyebrow. They were too concerned about the prospect of England's overpaid football flops losing to a team of scaffolders from Darkest Peru in some meaningless friendly. It's about time someone here cared about this wonderful sportsman and person, if only in his hour of departure.
I found comfort in this tribute to Dan yesterday. It was nice to see people with smiles on their faces, especially Susie. Motorsport will never be the same for me. RIP, Lionhart.
