this from grannydyess i havent posted in a few months (no computer) but i will say now and always there will never be a singer like marty robbins God bless and may his music live on
who is the man who plays when marty sings red river valley? i know his first name is grady and he was a regular member of marty's band. can someone tell me?
The guitarists' name was Jack Pruett. My dad was Jim Farmer, the steel guitar player in the oldies, before Bill Johnson. I remember your dad, the act was Quinine Gumpstump and his Cajun buddy Bill, right? I forget who Jacks' brother Sammy played for, but my family and theirs were pretty tight back then.
The guitarist in Marty's band was Pruitt. I don't know if it was Sammy or his brother whose first name I can't recall. He was Jeannie Pruitt's husband. They laughingly referred to him as Mr. Jeannie Pruitt. Grady Martin usually did most of the guitar work behind Marty on his recordings.
are the drifter videos still for sale? i would love to see them. i cannot seem to access his website. to check for myself. or can someone copy them for me on dvd?
@grannydyess The guitarist was Grady Martin. He backed Marty on most of his hits. That Spanish guitar playing you've heard on "El Paso" and the song "The Alamo" was Grady Martin. He was a session guitarist for many years and appears on more country music hits than probably any other artist.
does your uncle have a website? i thought he was so great in this video. anything or anyone associated with marty robbins is tops in my book. i too would like to know is he still living and where i can learn more about him.
if anyone can make me copies of the drifter series i would defray costs

No, he does not. He passed away in 97 or 98, and in several states away. Thank you for all of your comments, as well!

Your uncle is cool! Is he still living? I happen to come across this video searching for Granpa Jones on this show, where he sings Kitty Clyde...
