BRILLIANT... singers have NO skills like this anymore... Dolly and Barbara Mandrell were the LAST real true talent in country music,, aside from Reba,, no one compares w/ comedy talent, singing talent, and musical talent than Dolly and Barbara..... and Carol, the QUEEN QUEEN QUEEN of funny
I had no idea they'd ever performed together. What a treat! Two of my favorite entertainers, together. And who would ever have thought to put them on stage together? A sheer stroke of genius!
Clever, clever material. People think stars just pull this stuff out of their ear!! Carol has had the best writers. This is perfect for the two of them. They are having such fun!
This was an hour long special and in my opinion the best performance was when they did the "Love" segment. It was a perfomance where they sing all songs it seems like ever written with the word love in it.
I had the PRIVILEGE of meeting Carol when was a waiter at the "Bistro Garden" in B.H. WAY back in 1990....(Never mind, don't ask my age....LOL).
My grandma and I used to watch her every Sat night. We laughed until we almost peed. The point? When I told Carol that these were some of the most precious memories of my childhood, she burst into tears and said that's why she did the show.
We talked more and I can honestly say, she was the most genuinely nice person I've ever met....famous or not.
I grew up watching this show with my grandma and we used to laugh ourselves silly. As I got older I realized how much ground breaking Carol did on tv as a comedienne. AND as a dramatic actress, she got a Golden Globe nomination as best actress for the film "The Life of the Party", a true story. I'm posting for other fans in L.A. who might want a chance to see her in person, she's hosting and will do a Q&A after.
Go to friendly House LA (dot) o r g to see an invite.
Have you got any more of the special you could post? There's a couple of fun things -- Dolly and Carol "pick" the banjo, and then a sketch I remember where they play little girls growing up together. Either way, you rock for sharing this amazing pairing and I am grateful to see it again.
i'm 25 and have known Carol Burnett's work since i was about 6 years old, having gotten to know of her b/c of ANNIE, and watched that movie SO Much since then it's pathetic... i personally don't know many people not familiar with Carol!!
Whoa whoa whoa there buddy....Listen here Waldo: Carol Burnett is and always will be an American institution. She is the embodiment of comedy and will never ever EVER be a "has been"....check yourself before opening your mouth.
Carol Burnett is an American TV personality (actually, to be more specific was an American TV personality about 15+ years ago). Dolly Parton is an internationally known country music singer and movie personality. Therefore, it is not surprising that many more people around the world have never heard of Carol B.
How could anyone not have heard as Carol Burnett? She was and is one of the funniest women ever. She is hilarious, I have spent many nights watching what ever old shows I could find.
