@mindaflame7 A riff is used in many styles of music, though it's mainly known in the many genres of metal, not just in a guitar virtuoso's composition. I don't get the derogatory terms like "shred wanking", the man is a genius and very talented. Virtuosity has been around in music for quite a while, listen to piano pieces composed back in the 18th century. It takes skill and above average competence to play something like this, and the musical style obviously has a fan base.

The term "Virtuoso" is used WAY too loosely by the uneducated masses to simply mean that someone can pick 8th notes cleanly at about 180 bpm, which is of course very shallow and ridiculous, as it has NOTHING to do with any musicality whatsoever.

@mindaflame7 I never said that having a fan base equated to musicality. This song is undoubtedly music, from composition to execution. Having a fan base simply means that there is an audience for this music, which is indeed music. I don't get the reason for derogatory remarks to the musical style. Also, for the virtuosity remark, the term could be used much more frequently because there it is easier for musicians of such caliber to be exposed. If you can play like this man, congrats. Most can't.
