  • Greeeeaaaaaaaaaaaatttt!!!!!!!!!!! I love that!!! ♥

  • Ed, thank you for the follow up info. I can find no mention of anyone or any group ever recording "Only You" before The Platters recording on Federal Records in 1955. If you have any info to the contrary or if Larry Randall has any comments on when they recorded "Only You" prior to the recording by The Platters, I would love to see it. Seriously, if The Big Beats recorded the song first, they deserve the credit and recognition. Thank you.

  • Another great sax number! . I could listen to him all night ! Any albums for sale?

  • Another great sax no. I could listen to him all night ! Any albums for sale?

  • @TexasBandit49

If you live in or near Dallas Texas, The Big Beats appear at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre, Oct 4th and Nov. 30th. They have a DVD of their live performance for sale. Yes, I did the audio on it.

  • I didn't know The Big Beats were together in 1955 when The Platters first released "Only You" on Federal Records and then later that same year, when it became a #5 hit on Mercury Records. Especially since The Platters manager Buck Ram wrote the song. Is this the same Big Beats that had Trini Lopez as a member when they released "Clark's Expedition" on Columbia Records (#41072) in 1958?

  • @calindesmoines1

They have their own FaceBook Page called The Big Beats-Legends of Rock and Roll Since 1957. You could got to the page and ask them about "Only You."

Yes, Trini was a member and they did release "Clarks Expedition."

  • toujours un plaisir a écouté ,Monsieur Larry RANDAL peut il me donner la partition de ce sublime only you qu'il joue avec un style exeptionnel merci a lui

  • c'est un pro pas de doute ,c'est du tres breau ,du grand .

  • Excelente!!!********..............

  • This song was #1 on the west coast for a while. Then The Platters did a vocal version afterward which became #1 nationally. If you go to FaceBook The Big Beats has a home there with Larry Randall as a member. He might know where you could purchase their music.

  • Is this the same Big Beats that Donny McCord played for back in the late 50's and early 60's.

  • Yes, Donny McCord was a Big Beat in those days and you can now find their photos etc. on FaceBook.

  • Do you know where I can get a album or copy of some of their records. I was really a big fan of Donny.'

  • Great music! The guys still blow great after all these years. I was a big fan of the band when they were at The Tracer Club in Ft. Worth... Way back in the late 60s!!

    Thanks Ed for the Videos,

    Ron
