When I say this movie, I was a little bit disturbed by the brutality of it all but I still found it to be one of the best movies I have ever seen. It was well shot, scripted, and acted that it seemed like all of this was real. Needless to say this movie was a little hard to watch at points, but still amazing. Nothing in the mainstream media on the big screen can even compare.

I can imagine how annoying it can be just to get answered questions about graphic content in the film you were in. I bet all he gets asked in interviews is the extreme scenes, while he probably wants to just talk about the film's themes and such.
I'm by no means bad mouthing anyone who dislikes this film, but as an expression of my own personal opinion, i found it brilliant in the sense that it provoked a response much different to that of the typical Hollywood persona. Much like David Lynch, Von Trier allows people, like myself, the opportunity to search deeper in the mind's of themselves and the world, and open themselves up to confrontation. I hope movies like this continue to be made, so that I can find release from the typical shit.

to the movie. i expected to see an ordinary horror movie. i totally underrated this film. its a powerful, scarring, catching and breathtaking film. william dafoe is amazing in those roles. he clearly is in his element. if someone would ask me who are the top 2 actors for movies like ANTICHRIST i would say Anthony Hopkins and William Dafoe.
to dafoe. he is a totally underrated actor. i haven`t seen a film with him where he doesn`t do an amazing job. he is one of the best actors alive.

I'm by no means bad mouthing anyone who dislikes this film, but as an expression of my own personal opinion, i found it brilliant in the sense that it provoked a response much different to that of the typical Hollywood persona. Much like David Lynch, Von Trier allows people, like myself, the opportunity to search deeper in the mind's of themselves and the world, and open themselves up to confrontation. I hope movies like this continue to be made, so that I can find release from the typical shit.

It was like an awakening. The only other film I have seen since that was on the same caliber is Black Swan, which I just saw tonight haha

From what I recall about this director, he doesn't always make bizarre shit like this but he does get under your skin.

Nowhere did I mention that I was offended by the content. I have absolutely no problem with gore, artistic nudity or vulgarity.
Cinematography is easily ignorable if the plot makes no coherent sense & the movie was just unpleasant to watch so there was bound to be something that was missed.
Plus, the director said that he's not sure why his films are the way they are so a movie with no true purpose or goal isn't too meaningful in the end

I think that everyone that is saying this director needs God should shut the hell up. He is strange and he does controversial movies. But just because he does a movie titled "Antichrist" doesn't mean he needs god or doesn't believe in god. It means absolutely nothing. It is a movie. A strange, slightly disturbing movie that has become very controversial. It happens to be titled "Antichrist" and may deal with controversial stuff. But that doesn't mean we have to have a religious debate.
