  • some fine mullets there!

  • Bruce was Good but Ali McMordie is great !

  • Bruce Foxton ain't Jake, Jake Burns ain't Bruce...

who cares? They made great music together for 15 years.

    2 all-time greats.

  • one of the best ever...and Bruce foxton on bass. class.

  • The name of this show is In Bed with Medinner and this aired on April 29th, 1994, not 1992.

  • Irony and Influence? Saw a guy at Marley Park last week with an SLF tattoo on his ar. I ALMOST went up to him to chat about the huge and FUCKIN OBVIOUS influence of SLF onto Green Day, then they started up on, well, any of their songs... If only Jake.

  • Not often you see a band playing live and the whole thing seems a little more polite than the original single. I pulled the 7" out just to check then just had to play the flip side with silly encores one of which was recorded at Troon town hall. I still remember the invasion of Glasgow punks to our quiet and snooty little town and the disgust of the old folks...I was a lad of 13 I guess, live in Australia now but fond memories.

  • Fuckin' love it

  • Bruce Foxton ain't Jake, pure n fuckin simple, seen SLF in both guises.....

there'll only ever be 1 SLF in my eyes, and it ain't ain't what parades itself every Poraighs' day at the Barra's

  • @SuperChoronzon

Jake has always been there...what are you havering about!, Bruce played with them for 10 years and was great ...and Henry Clunie and Ali McMordie are always coming back as well.

  • When you start a band and release over 10 albums and get millions of fans you can say that shit. You are the cunt!

  • What you telling me to get lost for ain't said anything to you??? Just making an observation on Bruce, don't see why that offends you.

  • Why what have I said to you????

  • i dont ever rememerb them playing the harp actually... they played the pound club

  • I grew up among the Harp days and the best belfast punk bands were Rudy and the Outcasts SLF were a boyband... R.I.P. Guinney the truest and only Irish punk!!!!

  • saw them in 77 and as often as pos over the years still fecking gr8!!!!

  • i think jake looks like jim from corrie!

  • brilliant.

first time i saw them was Glasgow Barrowlands 1990 what a night !!!!!!!

  • Fuck U2, this is real Irish rock.

  • u2 have done nothing for the irish abroad.....

  • saw them few month ago fuckn brilliant.

  • Like SLF, however Bruce Foxton is like a square peg in a round hole, who you can see is going through the emotions.

  • he sounds 4kall like tristan from the maclads you bellend

  • slf rocks!!

the best irish punk rock band ever!

  • fab! Love SLF

  • He souns like Mutley Macc from the Macc Lads....

  • Jake sort of looks like Joey Gladstone

  • saw them in ayr 83 ace group

  • Comment removed

  • i'm quite surprised there are so many people that have recently got into SLF, i've been into ever since i were a lad travelling up to middlesbrough listening to me old mans tapes on the way up, good memories.

nice to see the fan base increasing :-)

  • I've never met someone in real life who likes them.

  • me and a couple of friends have been listening to them for a few years now, but apart from that no one else I know even knows them

  • You must not meet many people who like good punk bands.

  • This song changed my life when i was 14 !! , Im glad it took me another 14 till i saw this video,w.t.f do they look like ?? haha

  • slf freakin amazing!

  • Excellent find, SLF when they were still really up for it!

  • i hope barak listens to this eh?

  • bruce foxton is the coolest player on the planet man, the jam were paul wellers ego on stage

  • Bruce Foxton doesn't look as cool as he always used to in The Jam.....

  • Where and when was this recorded? This sounds amazing, I'd love to have these on mp3 to listen to.

Pretty new fan here...got into them though Foxton, being a big Jam fan and all. I love Jake's voice here at this time, it sounds so perfect, better than in the early years IMO. Not to slag off his vox then at all, that is.

  • Download it then.... And why is ace ventura right at 00:00 Seconds? Lol

Obvo VCR or VHS whatever lol.

  • Ashamed to say I only got into SLF a few years ago when I went to see a mates tribute band, Rigid Digits. SLF are the fecking real deal and this is one of the best punk tracks of all time (although it came a little late). I used to drink in the same pubs as Ian Macallum and I thought he was a total knob, but since he joined Fingers, all is forgiven!

  • fckn brill enough said.G

  • Thanks for posting, this song got a lot of us lads outa hell which was Ireland in 78-82.Here's your room and here's your records here's your home and here you'll stay.Hell no.

  • Jake rocks!

  • Northern Ireland's finest!

  • Thsi is the first time I've ever listened to these guys, but they are GREAT, pure old time PUNK!

  • @eleanorroseturner yeah your only 31 years to late hahaha

there still going and playing my home town next week

  • Do you know that Dave Sharp is playing with SLF at this point after Henry left. I forgot but man this is great.

  • I got them to play that song in SF. It was the best concert ever. I held up a sign that said "PLAY HARP" and Jake honored it and played it perfect.

  • Damn, when I saw them on their 30th anniversary thing last year I was shouting for them to, but no luck. I know Jake heard me, too, since he grinned at me and fucking shook my hand right after the song they were playing. Jesus, man, if you're gonna turn down a kid's request then don't be such a nice goddamn guy while you're doin' it.

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • Jake,

I was about to slag you off for living in the past but "Don't call me Hawk" is a cracker respect and hat's off. Respect man!!

  • hell yeah

all the grey heads and baldies pogoing at the civic should be great

  • SLF are playing in Christchurch NZ on 15 may 08 - yay!!!

  • Shit, christ! I hope they are playing in Auckland any information paul?

  • Not sure but i wld imagine they are playin Akl - google them and have a look at their tour dates - they r doing Aussie too - for the first time eva.

If they ain't playin akl then let me know and if u wanna come 2 Chch then we look afta u - if u can stand the cold :-)

I can't wait - i saw them in 78 before inflammable material was released - and now 30 years later......its gonna rok

  • Yeah - just checked it out - SLF are playin Akl - 14th at the Powerstation - u don't have to suffer the cold afta all - enjoy

  • Cheers;)

  • horrible hairstyle but great music :)

  • how could you just sit and tap your feet in the crowd saw them at the newcatle acadamy great night lost 2 stone that night go for it

  • Sunderland Poly 1981, Newcastle Carling Academy 2008, best live band ever!

  • saw them 16th at Newcastle Academy, then went up to Glasgow Barrowlands on 17th, two brilliant gigs, long may they continue.

  • call me crazy but i think slf is the greatest punk band ever. it's really the ramones, the sex pistols, the clash and stiff little fingers. they're the absolute best. i love every one of these songs!

  • going to see them at newcastle 16/03/08.

    hopefully post some vids.

cant wait, gonna feel all young again!

  • off to see fingers this sunday night its the first time me son has been to see them deaf monday for school at least he has had a great time fill the mini buss next go for it

  • I'm getting too old, I couldn't find a mate to go to watch the Stiffs in Leeds last night but we'll catch them in Doncaster on Thursday.

    31st anniversary tour!

    #

    Scary

  • This footage is great, despite of them being a bit older. i don`t like their new things as much a i love their firts 4 albums (right before the break up; still they have some good songs. i personally like the dirty and rought sound and hate the over-polished studio sounds. harp is a great song. Notice that Foxton (ex The Jam) gives a brilliant bass line, I mean, he is a great bass player. its a shame when you can not hear the bass, but that does not happen here, i love it. Miss his Rickenbacker!

  • Makes an old geeza feel young again. Still the best music out there.

  • Lurkio007 il second that.

  • one of my favourite bands..this was music and not the nowadays pussycats bands...love you dudes from SPAIN

  • How the hell did U2 get to superstar status, when jake burns, and SLF, put them to shame,

The finest band to ever come out off Ireland,

  • Punk... just punk. Try to do better GreenDay faggots!

  • Hey you fuckers...don't call me Harp!

  • ahehehe!

  • Back when I was younger they were talking about me

  • "talking at me"

  • if it wasn't the way they finished the song i would think it was a playback when they played Harp. It is too much similar the record album, mainly the vocals

  • Got my tickets for Manchester 15th march. Hope they play lots from Get a life. We will all be in bathchairs if they do the 30 year thing that they did last year with Immflamable. If you havn't seen fingers live you got to. The most honest band out there today and I think better than the late 70's

  • yeah, Get a Life is one of my favorites, just after Inflammable and Nobodys. Baby Blue, Can't Belive In, Harp, Wal Away, Road To Kingdom, Forensic Evidence... Fucking great album

  • Bruce Foxton was a mistake, and after travelling near 300 miles to see SlF in Nottingham, i found some jaded old men sippin' brandy congratulating each other on another gig nailed. BACK TO FRONT???

  • You are just jealous...

  • brill brill

  • Still gud to see they are still going strong after all these years..seen em twice at the Mayfair in Newcastle....fukin awsome !! UP THE FINGERS... !!!!!

  • How many of you lads in yer early 40s remember the intro to alternative ulster? Click the thumbs-up if you agree

  • not in my 40's but i agree

  • I was going to say, that when I just heard the opening of Alternative Ulster, I got this rush that went from my toes to my head, just like in my youth. I sure fucking miss those days...what fucking brilliant bands we had then.

  • You're right - we did have great bands then but the fingers are still playin NOW and I swear there is nothing to match the atmosphere of Fingers gig now.

    Anyone up for Academy 2 (Manchester)on 15th March 2008?

  • Would love to fly over there and see them again. The last time I saw them was in '81. I hope they make it to the states...I will see them then. Fucking ace!

  • Stiff Little Fingers play Philly a lot. Apparantly they're fuckin huge over on the East Coast

  • Hopefully they are huge worldwide. They are brilliant.

  • yes!

  • mate that intro nearly killed me..... down the front at brixton early 90s...... thought i could still mosh with the best of 'em..... jake comes on, launches into the opening bars of Alt Uls..... bosh... it was then i realised my moshing days were over... time to start standing at the back, nursing a lager and nodding appreciatively.......

  • ill be at the back with a cold one as well chuffy.going to see em @ scarborough vivaz tomorrow night 29th feb 08.............

  • What a load of crap! who are they anyway? never heard of them.

check the guy's hair, mullet and a half!

na, only joking!! went to see Jake the snake a few months ago, still squeezing the classics out.

  • pished & throwin up at school discos fuckin brill

  • anyone else out there grow up through the Troubles? SLF helped dont you think???! Kept me sane. Thanks for posting this

  • as good as it gets seen them live lots i usedgetup on stage with them beeing 38 nowslows the job down but i keep trying

  • must agree m8 i`ve seen them loads of times just keeps getting with age.....i can`t get up the stage either ............:)

  • the edge means so much to me i was a punk in the 70 80 growing up in a mining village in yorkshire. i want this played at my funeral hopefully a long way from now, still only 42 . nice one for sharing this top bands clips.

  • brilliant video, still dont get why the feck it aint played on MTV,VH1 or any of them other so called music channels

  • because music channels suck and slf dont

  • great fuckin video

  • other than Dolfin and Jake who are the other 2 ?

  • bruce foxton on bass (after the jam)

  • and i think steve summin

  • Dave Sharp, he used to play for The Alarm, when they were better than they are now.

  • lool o right , i saw these last night in farnham they were fuckin incredible !! only let down was they didnt do gotta getaway

  • seen slf in concert in the early 80's they were brilliant and there were lots of people wanting to speak to them after the concert. they told us to wait a few minutes and they would go around to the back stage door, everyone thought they were just saying it and they could make a quick get away, but true to their word they waited for ages and met everyone of us and were great down to earth lads. a fantastic night i will always remember.

  • T O P C L A S S

  • Did they ever find their original drummer who disappeared?

  • stuck in the 80s? haha love this band!

  • always speak your mind but not aloud!!!!! Don't pity this poor immigrant, my eyes were open when i caught the boat!!!!!!!!!!! nothing for us in Belfast,,,,what we neeed..is more Burns and Ogilvies! \/

  • That's rockin Man,punk rocking pleasure,regards vince

  • the best f***ing band ever. gaz, northants.

  • I just looooooove almost all these classic hits of SLF (at least hits to me!) and I've done my own versions of some of the songs (vids? nah, why would I?)

  • lol @ jim in the first frame

  • That's Northern Ireland - part of Britain (don't want to start an argument though).

  • one of the best bands to come from ireland in my opinion

  • they are still so good, Jakes voice is so clear. I hope they will visit my town one day again. It was new to me that Foxton was in SLF after Jam , anyway he´s def the right guy for this job BUT HOW CAN THE PEOPLE SIT STILL ??

  • Bruce Foxton from The Jam is a bass player not a guitarist....

    brucefoxton dot com

Musically this SLF line up was one of the best.

  • the guitarist is Bruce Foxton (ex "the Jam") what a relief it was for me when the jam broke up to see bruce go to SLF as they are joint fav in my all time best bands list

  • who the hell is that on guitar?! I guess it must be post Henry/pre Ian?

  • it is DAVE SHARP from the ALARM on guitar he was standing in before Ian McCallum joined the band, it was on a show with Bob Mills called " in bed with me dinner"

  • Ah...THATS Dave Sharp....OK, it all makes sense now, thanks! Going to see the Fingers for the umpteenth time next Tues at Cambridge Junction, should be a blinder if last years show is anything to go by!

  • Enjoyed watching this !! have saw the band many times years ago, so great to see they are still around. must admit, bruces "moves" gave me a laugh

  • Haven't seen them play since 1992 and got my ticket for Dublin on sat - can't wait - anyone seen the current tour yet? Apparently the whole of inflammable material will be played

  • Top band, awsome live, must av seen em about 35 times in all.Think Jake is enjoying playin live more now than ever.Backed by Steve Grantley on drums,Ian Mccallum & now that Bruce has left,Ali Mcmordie is back on bass. Can't wait till March. Thanks for stickin this on,never seen it before
