I'm talking about the EOS 1D mark IV specifically and don't compare it to someone who buys expensive cars because cars are a means of transportation and a status symbol essential for business.

You buy one expensive camera and set of lenses just to take few pictures and store it on your computer and you don't even sell it for the world to see. If you sell it though, it can no longer be classified as a hobby.

@Blitz4000 Who cares if you get this camera as an armature if an armature is into sports photography why the hell should they want to be stuck using anything less if they have the cash and skills to use it. Its actually healthy for canon to sell this line to non pros. The more cameras sold at this level the more profitable it is to develop the line, pro cameras are the least profitable of any of the camera range due to development cost and far less sales than at the consumer level.
