This video is nuts. I live in England. if i become ill or my neighbour becomes ill we are taken care of by our health service regardless of how much money I have.

In America your army has socialised healthcare. If a soldier becomes ill he is given health care. Why do you want to change that?

It makes both moral and econmic sense to treat people who are ill.

People are pulling their own teeth (not enough dentists, long waits), and saying that the elderly have a responsility to die because it is costing the system too much money. Perhaps also the junk food producers? Have Kraft pay subsidies for making food that makes it's customers sick. Or BigPharma for making side-effect latent drugs while ignoring or suppressing awareness of plants for medicine, plant oils, plant foods. (Get the gov regulators on animal agriculture to REGULATE! instead of radiating the meat afterwards.) Why should an asthma breather cost $3 in Mexico and what? $60 or $80 in America.

Use Taiwan Model. It was developed recently and very successful. No waiting and low cost. It has taken the best of the Japan, Singapore, European system and combined. The medical cost need to be dealt with by both party now before it bankrupt this country.

Obama should make it self sustaining. The post office is self sustaining. Public utilities are self sustaining. WIth everyone in health care taking their cut (insurance compainies, pharma and heath care providers) the government taking no profit, might actually be able to do a better job for less. I can only compare to our local utility comany. We have three companies, private is almost twice as expensive as public, pay their people less and have more outages. It's worth a try.

the main cost is at the doctor. why the hell does a doc ned to make so much money. the school my cast alot but it would be better for the goverment to pay for the school so docs don.t feel they need to get paid so much. then the cost of ins. would go down

Money is not wealth.. you can burn all the money in the world and you don't destroy wealth.. What the USA got right is that the more we give up control to the government the more waste appears.. Ex. check Santa Clara Swim Center private club.. and its counterpart from the government which asks too much to be a coach.. and has no results of champions or efficiency.. It took me 10 years in US to realize this sad reality,government officials don't know how to create wealth just knowhow to waste it!

The government is already spending a huge portion of our budget on Medicare. Ask anyone how well that is working. We already have socialized medicine for older Americans and it sucks.

We need to reform health care, we need to make it affordable. But we do that by cutting out the huge costs of health care... cut out the parasites. Stop bailing out the boat and fix the leak.

Why does fixing a broken system have to cost money? Why does health care reform have to cost anything? Every time a politician opens his/her mouth I wonder... "How much is this going to cost America?"

They people couldn't break out of a wet paper bag without having to pass a multi-billion dollar plan on how to do it.

It costs money because the government has to pay for the health insurance coverage. In order for that to happen feasibly, the government has to raise taxes. Thats why in Canada, we have to pay two taxes in order to cover our universal health care. You may think thats bad but - if there is no universal health care system - trillions of dollars of debt would have to spent on medicare and medicaid soon.

I don't entirely disagree with Obama. A government option may force health insurance companies to cut down on cost.

They may be forced to cut out a lot of fat, they may have to fire a few thousand lobbyist.

If they want to stay in business they would have to be competitive... which isn't the case now. Right now they are sticking it to everyone... including the taxpayer who already has to contribute to medicare.

Maybe this is the only answer... they only way to break the corporate hold.

It would work great if we got rid of medicare and just had a universal health care system. But is the government going to end medicare and defer all payments to the new option?
