  • The guitar work in this song is from the heavens above

  • EEEEEee! my favorite Sonic Youth song! :D i'm pretty pumped it's on here lol

  • this is my perception of heroin

  • I'm down in the daytime out of sight

Comin' in from dreamland I'm on fire

I can see it's all been here before

Dream a dream that lies right at your door

When the seasons circle sideways out of turn

And words don't speak just fall across the carpet

You're just in time to watch the fires burn

It seems a crime but yr. face is bright you love it

    All the time...

  • I'm island-bound, a mote inside my eye I can't see you breathing as before I am airless - a vacuum child I can't stand to reason at your door In this time Put 'me' in the equation it's alright I've seen you moving in and out of sight My friends tell me it's all cut through you (?) From nowhere - to nowhere Come together
  • [Lee] When you see the spiral turning through alone And you feel so heavy that you just can't stop it When this sea of madness turns you into stone Picture of your life shoots like a rocket All the time Put 'me' in the equation it's alright I've seen you moving in and out of sight My friends tell me it's all cut through you (?) From nowhere - to nowhere Cut together - cutting through

  • A melhor música do Sonic Youth.

  • Sonic Youth are shier brilliance

  • sonic power!!!!

  • GOO IS PURE SEX

  • The nineties had absolutely nothing ...feat/T-Pain....ill take that.

  • Yeah there's always been terrible music dominating the radio. Youtube just made it easier to dig up old stuff like this. Before all this was out you had to tape videos off MTV.

  • epic ending!

  • The very reason electric guitars were invented.

  • Ed templeton in toy machines jump off a building is how i discovered this gem!!

  • @BudhaBluffa me too!

  • hands down favorite song ever!!!

  • folks, this is one of the best songs, ever....does not really matters in which decade was it written

  • by far one of my most favorite sonic youth songs! ive had the goo vhs for a long time now, and just recently found out that the black and white (more blue than white) footage in this video was shot on a pxl2000.

  • neopets

  • This is definitely one of my top SY songs. the sound, lyrics, video, ALL!!!

  • christ, enough already with 'i miss the nineties'. last i checked, sonic youth formed in '81 and are still around. you remember milli vanilli? billy ray cyrus? the bowl haircut? 'the real world'? somalia? bosnia? the mario bros. movie? the nineties fucking sucked. every decade sucked. if you switch off the radio and spend five minutes of your invaluable time looking for good music, you'll find it. google 'pissed jeans' for starters.

  • @misterbizzones The 90's were 100x better than what is going one now.

  • @misterbizzones THANK YOU!!! LOL

  • @misterbizzones

You're right at one point, when it comes to music we still have enough good bands,

but the nineties were still more special, the world is now rulled by the media and the most famous people in the world are no-talents (kardashians, jersey shore cast etc.)

  • @misterbizzones Pissed Jeans is pretty fucking good.Had a buddy of mine recommend them to me a few months back.

  • @misterbizzones you're correct every decade does such and that decade's youth always revert back to the music of a former decade in the 90s these kids who are digging up grunge would have more than likely dug up old school punk bands like minor threat or the bad brains. it's a simple fact and will never change so long as there are youths pretending to go against the grain there will always be youth wishing that they were born 15-20 years earlier so that they could have seen the "cool bands"

  • @misterbizzones pissed jeans is terrible and the nineties were pretty fuckin awesome. just sayin...

  • @DrawOutTheLions oh ok.

  • @misterbizzones nostalgia's a bitch, right? :D

  • <3 kim <3

  • When I first heard this song on Goo record, I did know it is kind of creepy, weird, and fu*ked up (In the good way OFC). But now, when I saw this video, I gotta admit that this is one of the best, and most fu*ked up videos I've ever seen!

  • Woweee this is broody. Afucinkstar!

  • Watching this music video has made me high as hell

  • This song completely changed my life. It was so unlike anything I've ever heard before and I instantly got hooked to Sonic Youth. First heard it when I was 13 and never stopped listening to them ever since. It's thanks to them I like the bands I listen to now and I'll always love them for it.

  • saw them play back in 97 with the amps and helium! i was in the 10th grade and the world was my oyster

  • wooooooooooaooooooooooooooooooooow 3min30

  • Lol the wikipedia portal of rock music articles has Sonic Youth as a kind of poster band for rock music; pretty good choice :)

  • When was the video recorded? (I think I bought the CD around 1990). Isn't that the world trade center falling around 1:24?

  • The incomparable analog era.

    No buttons!

  • I'll never understand people's attachment to music from the 80s. I guess the average musis listener never gets tired of the vapid and visceral.

  • Comment removed

  • @ryandferren I guess I'm not average then, 'cause I got tired of your vapid and visceral comments right away

  • @Jakska74 yeah dont listen to this asshole

  • @ryandferren You mean like the cheap pop of the 80s?

  • @ryandferren you truly are an elitist asshole

  • One of my favorite songs ever.

  • WOW! I had "Goo" when I was 13, right after it first came out. This was always my favorite song off of it, but I NEVER knew they made a video! And after watching it, I understand why I didn't know--no way in Hell would MTV air something like this! On the album, the 3 1/2 minutes or so of pure distortion is some what baffling, set to these images it becomes disturbingly artistic. SHEER GENIUS! This has seriously made my night!

    Merci beaucoup, lesquatrecentscoups!

  • @mixtape24

    haha thx man

  • All of Sonic Youth's songs, and videos are like a stream of thought.

  • Great song and nice video. From 4:40 is it the electric chair scene from faces of death? I think so.

  • Fucking good... fucking good.... fucking good.... fucking good....

  • i swear if david lynch made a sonic youth video I would have a fucking orgasm

  • @Neirending BEST IDEA EVER

  • @SpamNapkin

    haha thx

  • Exploding rockets ...

    Orgasmic chicks ...

    Executions ...

    Autopsies ...

    Noize ...

    Controlled demolitions ... (9-11?)

    Who's not to love? =p

  • Sonic Youth ogre stirring the sea...

  • great song definitely best on goo along with kool thing the end of the song just keeps going though when it should end way earlier which is really fucking annoying its like half the song is just noise

  • @eriueriucb new to sonic youth?

  • Sonic Youth on post-modern YouTube.

  • oh mon dieu, ils ont fait une video de mon titre favori de sonic youth !!! merci 400 coups

  • I know I shouldn't be nostalgic....but I miss the 90s.

  • the best alternative rock band

  • Best song on Goo

  • Great song :D

  • one of those days...

  • My good god goo - its f**cking Briliant - A s always!

  • @gizmo3250 Eh better than most bands will ever write but outside of Mote, Mary Christ and Kool Thing, this album was pretty weak. Love SY but Goo is in the middle of their discography in terms of quality as a total album.

  • Everytime I play 'Goo' I always stop at this track then I have to put it on repeat...

  • Awesome song live. This is song 5 on the album "Goo".

  • Hmmm, why is it i have heard most Sonic Youth albums but never came across this gem...What album is this from??

  • @JLaw012 It's On Goo my friend

  • @Amir3793, huh. i have heard it then. its just been to long i guess. Thanks!

  • @JLaw012 goo

  • @JLaw012 Track 5 from Goo.

  • I like all thier vocals, such more variety with 3 mixing it up on different songs, but to the same distored sound.

  • I LOVE Steve Shelley......awesome!

  • Oh My Gaod When I Saw The Video Icon Of The Video It Looked Just Like "Tremolo E.P." From "my Bloody Valentine

  • This song is one of my tops picks if purgatory is a million years in a waiting room with the same jam playing over, and over, and over...

  • the way he sings "all the time" makes me almost cry...powerful song!

  • Its the country as it hit the 90s it blew up like a rocket and now there are nothing but broken pieces left!

  • Dave Grohl, you're welcome.

  • I like Steve's drum sound on this album. Just struck me.

  • Agreed. Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!

  • this music = early teens + tripping on acid a'la Bad Brains I against I........

  • great, now im afraid im going to rip off other peoples music without knowing it. though i wonder if girls knew they ripped off this song.

  • @EternalDrummer1990 Of course they did. They probably worship the youth.

  • yup, one of the best music videos ever made.

  • classic track. there's a new song that totally rips it off though... it's called "Morning Light" by Girls. same riff and everything

  • a picture of your life shoots like a rocket

  • Yep, the 90's are gone. We reached a high point then...

  • @DeKalblu

I'd rather say this was the legacy of 80's, though it was released in 90's. Great song, great ideas, great successive images. Respect.

  • @DeKalblu The late eighties was when good music died. Sonic Youth were one of the last great bands.

  • @DeKalblu

thats when the wave crashed. And now we are receding.

  • i think girls ripped it off abit with moring light

  • Finally saw them last year for the first time; such an amazing live act! Lee seemed to be making the most interesting sounds in my opinion.

  • Love Lee's songwriting.

  • love this shit. his voice is great.

  • This has got to be a cultural asset!

  • It kinda sucks that I'm 14 and I just discovered Sonic YOuth a couple months ago, and I have so many CDS to purchase! I mean, why didn't I learn about this band before! I mean, why wasn't I born back then. I'm catching the late train of epic musical masterpiece. So much catching up to do. My goal is too have at least 4 abulms by the next record.

  • 14 it ok to discover this sound!! how i wish to have 14 and hear all my favorite bands for the first time...

  • @windrix1 dont sweat it...take your time..plenty of music to go around. just do your research...and...watch 1991 the year punk broke. its unreal. (youtube it)

  • @windrix1 I know how you feel, I got into Sonic Youth at the age of 14 too that was back in 2007. For my 14th birthday I bought Dirty and I fucking feel in love with them. I suggest you get Dirty its an awesome CD after that get EVOL and Daydream Nation those records are like a billion times better than Dirty. Keep on listen to good music my friend

  • @windrix1 ur not alone

  • @windrix1 Discovering Sonic Youth @ 14 is the best time ! Take your time and enjoy the whole work, shiver by shiver down your spine. Sonic Youth ftw

  • @windrix1 dude just download them all, im sure they wont mind if you get inspired (and you also buy a couple and go to the gigs)

  • @windrix1 I feel the same way about Screamin' Jay Hawkins, but I listen, I listen, I listen. Sonic Youth made itself for you.

  • @windrix1 have you discovered Nirvana yet? XD

  • @windrix1 Don't think that it sucks. Just think that you have access to SO many wonderful musical geniuses now.

  • @windrix1 it was the best of times little dude. I feel sorry for you, have to put up with soooo much shitty music today.

  • @windrix1 No it doesn't suck. Without the internet, you may never heard of this band until much later. I learned about almost all of my favorite artists through the internet. It doesn't mean it sucks I wasn't alive younger... it just means that I can be influenced by the music I listen to and make great music for future generations to appreciate.

  • @windrix1 all their songs are not this good ... infact all the things they produce are not songs ... but Daydream Nation and Goo should keep many hours of listening pleasure for you for sure

  • @windrix1 let me know which CDs you are still missing , i ripped all my Cds long time ago,and they take good chunk of the attic , will be happy to send them to you if u just pay postal cost

  • Whoaa; sometimes Sonic Youth can be cool----at times disturbing

  • dope!!

  • Lee never gets enough songs, he gets at most 3 on each album, usually 2, what gives?

  • @TheSicDominator Quality, not quantity.

  • @applemax no, it's lee ranaldo. LOLZ

  • this is my favorite SY song for sure!! it reminds me of hanging out with my friends during the summer after 9th grade, smoking weed and lighting firecrackers in my friend's room while listening to the radio with sunlight piercing though the blinds only to dissipate in the opaque fog collecting on the second floor of his house. Ahh! i cant wait for my last summer......

  • ahhh vous vous éclatiez bien à Baltimore bande d'enfoirés. Ici à Aubagne, à part des saletés de sachets d'herbes de provence à ingurgiter par mega-tonne, il ne nous reste plus que l'ennui.

  • Wow! I cant wait for your last summer either now.

  • Goo is an amazing album. This really is the standout track for me

  • Comment removed

  • last couple of minutes are quite hypnotic - wish there were more bands like this these days

  • @Metalgazer: Check out the band A Place to Bury Strangers from NYC. They're a mix of shoegaze with a bit of noisy, experimental stuff here and there. They're very good and very catchy.

  • Yeah, they've been in the ear for about 80% of my commutes over the last month. :p

  • ive seen APtBS at ATP in dec and tbh they werent very good live, the biggest disapointment of the whole weekend! which was a shame :(

is one of my favorites of all the songs where lee sings..

    also wish fulfilment!

  • check the video for the whole album .i mean the whole goo album every song has a video for each song.
