I'll be happy to take whatever function I have... if you hate trucks so much then quit watching videos about them. Alright, I have real things to do in life other than fighting with someone on YouTube... enjoy '68 Cutlass and 36 studebaker rode... I'm off to take 3 people kayaking in my Dodge Dakota. To each their own...
"(...) I also love being able to carry multiple people and multiple chairs... which I'm sorry but don't know what kind of van you have but we were unable to get 4 people and 4 chairs plus 2 kayaks in any van(...)"
hehehe, yeah, a fullsize van WILL fit more wheelchair users AND their chairs, than any extended p/u ever could...now you're just saying things which ain't factual just to try to make your point...not working though...don't just make up 'facts' , that's a sure way to lose a point...
@36Studebaker I would put you up to the challenge since we actually did it with a rental van. You fit 4 people, 4 chairs and 2 kayaks in a van or whatever you want to drive. For you it's about the image of your classic car, for me it's hitting the mountains. You drive what you want, I'll drive what I want... like you said, it's a free country. Oh and as far as being a "real c-quad" that's not a status I regret, I'll take whatever function I can get. I don't hold that as a social status.
@FFLilFox : i think ya missed my point..i'm not criticizing the idea of a p/u, i DID have a p/u, likely was one of the 1st quads to do so & had to come up with my own mods because drivemaster [conversion vendor] never heard of any quad converting one..but MY p/u was practical else it's just a lame poser game to drive a p/u that lost its purpose..been a quad for over 21 yrs & had rigid & folding w/chairs, if ya're gonna sacrifice p/u's purpose just to have a rigid seems silly..get a car or van..
@36Studebaker Well I bought a crewcab Dodge Dakota and I'm loving it. It IS practical for me, I live in an area where 4WD is important and not just to drive faster, I am still able to use the bed for carrying things other than the chair, such as handcycles, racingchairs, kayaks, etc. I also love being able to carry multiple people and multiple chairs... which I'm sorry but don't know what kind of van you have but we were unable to get 4 people and 4 chairs plus 2 kayaks in any van.
@FFLilFox look, obviously you like to listen to yourself without taking the time to actually read what you're replying to so trying to logically make my point with ya is a waste of time hehe...do what ya want as long as you're not charging taxpayers to build up your 'image'..btw i don't have a van, i daily drive a '68 cutlass w/455 mill and my other ride is a 36 studebaker rod...all paid for w/my own $..& i'm a real c-quad, not walking,if you click on my nick you'd know rather than falsely guess
Thanks for posting this, they were trying to tell me that the Bruno lift could not be installed in an S10 but I have seen 3 otherwise. I am getting a crewcab s10 so if it's raining or snowing too bad then I will just take it apart and store it in the cab like a normal vehicle.
@36Studebaker: some of us like our trucks Also the rigid chairs are more lightweight than the folding frame. Also try covering it with a BBQ grill cover in the rain/snow
@FFLilFox anyway, i'm just stating my opinion, & like every1, i have it along with my a-hole hehe...it's a free country so get what ya feel like but a p/u that's lost its utility & purpose seems like an illogical choice to me...it's more some poser 'image' than need/practicality...it's ok as long as ya pay with your own money & the taxpayers ain't paying for such whimsy...personally, if i saw a wheelchair user in a new p/u where bed is useless now due to lift/wchair stowage space, i'd laugh...
@36Studebaker Also as far as your taxpayer money goes... I can guaruntee you that the pickup lift is a hell of a lot cheaper than any van outfit. I will drive what I want, and that's a truck... as for practicality, I have yet to see anyone fit as many people and things in a van or car as I have in the crewcab truck. I don't drive it for some "poser" image... I drive it because it's what I want to drive and have a need to drive.
to me this concept is retarded..why buy a truck if you're going to waste the bed for stowing the lift/chair?. i'm c5-7 quad & in '98 i bought a '99chevy s-10 p/u, it went straight to disability modification vendor. i wanted to use the truck's bed for sleeping & storage capability so i had an air bag suspension installed for easy transfers & a 'walk through' conversion with a permanent bedcap. it allowed for sleeping/cargo carrying. i use a quickie 2 folding chair & stowed it behind my seat...
This would never work in Finland because everything has to be fastened very carefully and this wheelchair was not. The second reason is that in wintertime it would be full of snow :-)
Good thing you live in Cali... because Rehab here in T Oklahoma... has put a freeze on spending. for some reason. the last time i talked to them they said. they have to wait until they get some more money. I just don't get it.

I'm also a wheelchair user (C6 quad). What happens when it rains? Do you cover your wheelchair up, or just let it get wet?
WildkatPublishing 3 years ago
@WildkatPublishing I hope you cover it up because When you sit back down your back will be soaked !
