  • how reliable is this DISTRONIC PLUS (with PRE-SAFE Brake) system though?? What if it fails if you keep driving like this on the highway?? Will Mercedes be liable with this?

  • Note - you still have to steer the car. Put away your blackberry.

  • amazing technology. Personally i'd dark tint the windows so i could jerk off to pr0n while driving rather than work on a blackberry but to each his own.

  • All you Americans do is.................... talk and talk and talk and and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and and talk and talk and talk and talk !! Oh and talk and talk and and talk and talk and talk and talk a little bit more.....

  • is the steering wheel involve in the system???

  • @wudi911 no

  • So everytime the car comes to a stop you have to hit resume? I'm debating If i should get the MB e-class coupe and this is a pricey option.

  • Excuse me! work on your blackberry? 0.50,

what kinda message do you give to your fellow drivers?Because MB has this system nontheless

means to use your cellphone.isnt it?

  • my dad has this option on the bmw 7 series but he never uses it, not even the cruise control, he likes to have the car all the time under control

  • Is this system available on the GL line of suv's MB web sit does not mention it?

  • Yes, it is available on the GL class. Distronic is available on all Mercedes-Benz models except for the A, B, C, GLK, G classes (and of course the SLR). I hope this might aid you :-).

  • @bertbraak what about the SLK I can't find any information about that?

  • @Maqqx You are right my friend, it is not offered in the SLK. I forgot about that one. And by the way, DISTRONIC will also become available in the facelifted C-class that is coming soon (2011). Good luck!

  • wat doet die altijd met zijne linker hand aan die hendel

  • Do you still have to control the steering wheel or it's automatic too?

  • @corght

lol it cant do ALL THAT...

  • Amazing feature, however it's very costly. But if you can afford the car, you can probably afford the this ;)

  • it's nice when a luxury car has luxury features which really do make driving easier and aren't just for show.

  • not really. it's only a $2,900 option. with that you also get the lane departure warning system, and blind-spot system. pretty good deal considering when MB first came out with NAVI it was a $3,000 option

  • Working on his BlackBerry while driving? Now there's an intelligent driver.

  • tht doesnt look like the new mercedes cause the new mercedes has different gagges

  • It is? He is in the S/CL

  • That's a cool feature, but why in the world did they decide to put the radar frequency in the K-band(24.1 GHz) category? Here is yet another car that is polluting our roads with radar.

  • What do you need a radar for?

  • Pollute with radar?

    What?

How on earth can you pollute with radar?

  • I wonder if a mattress lands in the road ahead of the car, will it brake on its own or...?

  • Please don't work on your BlackBerry whilst driving

  • @topbanana188 you would get an instant fine and 3 points on your licence if you get caught with a phone in your hands while driving in the UK.

  • But I was reading about this new car and it had so much new technology in this car and I then figured out how could a Benz have so many problems per new cars..and also when you press the brake pedal it shuts off Distronic Plus, when you turn it on you gotta press the button to start it up again, you can forget and rear end a car..:/

  • You know, when Mercedes was demonstrating this system, the car that had this feature rear ended the other car because nobody told the driver that it wasn't on.

  • So when it brakes for you - do the brake lights show just like they normally would? I hope so.

  • Yes, but that can be a bad thing because no one likes someone who brakes on a motorway.

  • amazing

    MB kicks ass

  • Yes the CL550 is in America & CL500 is in Europe & Middle East but they all have the same 5.5L V8 380+ BHP engine.Don't undertsnad why Merc has chosen different labels for different continents.

  • Hmm.. thats strange... First I thought you were wrong.. I thought a CL550 does not exist. But you seem to have one in the US. In Europe a 550 does not exist. Only the CL500, CL600 and CL63 AMG... Typical..

  • u dont have to hit the lever every time tio resume right?

  • You have to so you can be aware of the road.

  • well i mena like every time u stop in traffic,i get so consufed easy, and o to the comment abt phils550

  • I think so, but I don't own the car since I'm 12. LOL

  • what if some1 cuts in?

  • The car will brake.

  • Damn... i wish i got that on my s-class!!! :(

  • Is it a 2007 S-Class, phils550?

  • Yea, i got the night view assist but not the distronic plus!

  • no,its the CL550

  • No, I'm talking about Phils550's car, not this video.
