  • Hey there hun. I know exactly how you feel. I'm 25 and got type 1 last year. I can never get my a1c below a 7 no matter hard I try. However in Canada below an 8 is good as the cold weather can cause higher sugars. I found your video truly inspirational. Don't give up hope. Just remember, stressing and feeling down about your a1c when it is already so very close to target is more harmful than just living your life and trying your best. Try not to let it consume (I know this is very hard to do) xo

  • I understand what you're saying. Not about having kids yet, cause I'm too young. But compared to me... trust me you're going to get to that level that you want to be at. I'm 16 and last time that I heard, my Hba1c was 14. Trust me, you can't be doing that bad.

  • it is tough getting a higher hba1c, last time i went to the hospital it had gone up by 0.3 and i was NOT a happy bunny. but that lead me to reading dr bernstein's diabetes solution (have you read it?) - it's the most comprehensive book i've ever read, and it's been a really good motivator for me to get me levels down...

hope all is going well :)

  • Wow. I really felt that one. You're not alone.

I've had success tightening control with a DexCom CGM. It helps sort out glycemic index affect on BG and variables like activity, illness, mood, etc. I'm better at bolusing (pump user that frequently uses square wave / combo boluses) because of having an accurate continuous BG curve. It warns of low BG's so makes tight control a bit safer too.

It's really hard most times. But you're going to have kids. Use that and keep at it.

  • I was also expecting my last A1c to be good but it was 8.6 - I was also rather disappointed. I have also been trying hard and hope to be within the 7's soon (going to get my bloods done in 2 weeks).

My Doc explained something interesting about how it's the highs that affect the result, not an average like everyone talks about...

Keep going! You are not alone and you will break through to the 6's this year...

  • @diabeticfriend Aw thanks! It's good to know I'm not the only one. Sometimes feels like I'm the only person in the world struggling. Best of luck with your upcoming bloods - got my fingers crossed for you.
