  • Makes me yearn for yesteryear, back when music was solid and had substance and could take you to another place. Now we're stuck with the likes of Lady Gag-me and what the hell was that whole debacle during the Superbowl with the Black-eyed Peas? What a friggin' disaster! Speaking of that...if there is not going to be a lock-out next season, I say they get Ozzy to do the half-time show at the next Superbowl. Who's with me?

  • This is a great song. It is rare for a song to make me want to be a blue-collar worker sweating his ass off for the man cuz hey she's waiting at home for me.

  • this song always kicks assgood guitar solo rock on forever.....

  • i loooove this song!! Soooo pretty! :)

  • WIDOWMAKER7777.........This song goes back almost 30 years, not 20. This vid is from the EARLY 80's. Like 83.

  • @SlachPatterson37 So 27 years ;) I know cause I am just that old , AND this video just made 83 That much better

  • @SlachPatterson37 Seen them for the first time just a few months ago , ...IM IN LOVE!

  • They say This kind of Metal had to Die.. Too bad cause I love this kind of Metal.. I love the Power Ballads of the time.. You don't get the same kind anymore.. Hard to believe this is going back 20 years.. Nothing like Youtube to make you feel old

  • YEAHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Love this song THANK YOU HELIX

  • I jammed & partied with Helix in North Bay Ont. Canada in the late 70's right before they covered this classic . Mike Hackman (brother of the late Paul Hackman lead guitar on this vid ) played drums on my 1st album ...small world Rainer Wiechmann (guitar w Helix 2004-2006) is currently engineering/co-producing my latest recording project ...anyway this is an awesome cover of a classic Foot in Cold Water tune ...check out a Foot in Cold Water for the original goods

  • The best part is, the power balads of the 80's are things that no other band can re-produce. Its absolutely fantastic for this song to last as long as it has.

  • Song is a remake from another Canadian Band called Foot In Cold Water

  • @redfisher1966 thanx for the info. I would have never known. Been a Helix fan for years, and finally saw them @ Rocklahoma.

  • I absolutely love this song, but watching the video and seeing how fruity the singer acts it kinda puts a damper on it. i still love it tho

  • The singer looks like combination of Tommy Aldridge and David Coverdale:D Good cover! Love it!

  • Not a lot of lyrics but a really good song :P 80's forever

  • I love this song!! It brings back great memories of the 80's!!

  • Man, I wish it was still 1985. I seen helix at the Memorial Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie in support of the Long Way to Heaven album. It was awesome.

  • what ?? a video for this song !!!!!!!. never knew that. a very awesome song.

saw them in concert opening for rush. i believe it was there grace under pressure tour.

the guitarists tripped over his guitar cord and fell onto the stage.

everyone was laughing. he got up and smiled, and kept right on playing.

the show was at the CAPITAL CENTER, in LARGO,MD.

no longer their. now, a brand new strip mall. lots of memories there.

  • Incredible ballad, unique vocals, great arrangement, and a fabulous music video. Heavy metal truly.....

  • this is lame compared to other songs by them, imo

  • A " Bar Classic " from the 80's........memories of Night Moves on Elizabeth Road.......on a Thursday ,Friday or Saturday Night...take your pick.

  • May 7 in Strathroy, Ontario. takin my new gal-pal.. wonder if they'd mind if we danced lol.

  • FUCK YEAH~!......

  • Anyone else loose their virginity to this cool little ditty? Ha ha;)

  • Helix remade this song,... but sounds fantastic...very few remakes turn out this good...

    Meesh

  • Yup Love4SK, they are indeed hard-working. I know Brian and his wife Lynda personally. :-)

  • Great Song! Should have became a bigger hit, wasnt aware it was a cover

  • I've always loved this song, but not too many people that I know, would know it.

    The song just flows well.

  • Me too. Always loved this song.

  • This Music is totaly "EMILY PERKINS" looks like!!! is just made for her!!!

  • This song has the perfect fit for a romantic setting..HINT, HINT ALL U MEN TO YOUR SWEETHEARTS OUT THERE!!!! lol!! Perfect for a romantic nite.. :)

  • that song fits perfectly for emily perkins personality for me...

  • It is with deep sadness that I must inform you all of the passing of Paul Naumann, lead guitarist for A Foot in Coldwater (this is a cover of their original by Helix). He passed in his sleep on October 20, 2009 at his home in New Mexico. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his son Paul Jr. and Hannah his daughter. R.I.P. Paul - we will all miss you......

  • Hendrix made a few Dylan songs his; I think Helix did the same on this one by Foot in Cold Water

  • With as many hits Helix had I'm suprised this song didn't make it more mainstream. It's one of the best songs on the album. Excellent video and production. The vocalis sings effortlessly. Love the video because all the musicians are just unpretentiously and masterfully doing what they do to make the song completely awesome.

  • This song probably didn't do well for Helix because it was originally released by A Foot in Coldwater in the 70s. It's hard to make a song into a big hit twice in that short a time span.

  • @chitterzz , actually it was Helix's second biggest song behind rock you, did very well for them even though it was a cover. and btw, just saw them live last night. hard working band for sure.

  • Just saw Helix with the original lineup together for the first time in years last weekend here in Toronto at Rock & Roll Heaven and they still sound amazing. Took a LOT of pics if anyone wants to see them, let me know on here and I will give you my Facebook name so you can see the photos and a couple of videos from that night!! Just e-mail me so we can exchange facebook names Highwayman0803 at eh oh L dot c o m

  • holly shit! what a great song! music like this was really hard to come by when i was younger because i live in Utah. and they have allways sucked on great music

  • excelente cancion!!! Helix forever

  • helix is a part of the golden era of hair metal

make me do anything u want is their greatest hit (for me)

    i do love it....

  • Two words.. Toronto Rocks..

Anyone else remember watching this on that show?

  • I remember John Roberts on TO Rocks and CityTV. It's still hard to take him seriously on CNN.

  • work hard in the daytime for a dinner at night

come to me at the right time everythings gonna be alright

  • great band great song

  • HELIX is such an awesome band.. and this song and video proves it.

  • Holy cow! I had forgotten about this group. This conjures up quite a few good memories for me. Big thanks for posting this. *hugs*

  • When the leas singer had his other band back in the 90's - "The 7 Year Itch" I had the honnor of doing there sound and lighting for them at The Tunnel Rock Bar here in Sarnia Ont. Had a great night drinking beers and getting to know them all...kick ass band!!

  • LONDON ONTARIO...home of Graham Lear from Santana, Thundermug, Helix, members from Lighthouse, the late Dominic Trioano...and London rocks the park every year.

  • The video is a refreshing change from the typical Heavy Metal videos. The girl in the video is portrayed as a clean wholesome talented young lady, And not a sleazy scuzbag slut like all the other Metal videos of the era. Maybe I'm just too old fashioned.

  • @gtrefghuk obvelesly

  • @gtrefghuk Too bad she's about 13. Yeah, real wholesome video...

  • @gtrefghuk

what you got against sleazy scuzbag sluts?

  • @dparch You have a point there buddy. Sluts have their place in the world too.

  • @gtrefghuk

I agree...but Helix sure didn't follow this pattern with their other videos :P In fact theirs are the only

80s metal vids I have seen that actually included nudity lol (gimme good lovin, rock you etc) maybe

the record label wanted this one so they could actually play one in the states on tv haha

  • This is a good cover!!! He has a nice voice....

  • Helix did a lot of covers and they do all of them justice. I like that they weren't afraid of cover songs like many bands were. Their original songs are great too love this band.

  • aswome singer lives in my city LONDON ONT ROCKS

  • I heard foot's version the other day. Great song. It's nice that Helix didn't butcher it.

  • That's right ! Was a foot in cold water.Back in the day.Helix does agood version of this good ole tune.

  • que bacanas las viejas epocas...

  • Brings me back to High School....

    Helix Rock.

  • This is nothing compared to Foot's version

  • ah hell Helix does a bette job at this than a foot in cold water does. Indeed.

  • Very true it is even better

  • than the orignal

  • I just lost $100 dollor's to my girl friend, in a bet on who wrote this song..........FUCK!!!

  • maybe you should get your 100$ back, and 100 from her, they didnt do the original, A Foot in Coldwater did.

  • she wont pay me now......I dont care , she know's it, I know it. Hahaha I love it ( thanxs bro )

  • The sound on this song is awesome, sounds so real and i love the hall sound its simply awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone who doesnt appreciate helix as the pre-eminent canadien metal band of the 80's can kiss my ass. we got hathor 2006 down here talking shit and he features the "bill evans trio" on his channel. what a numbnuts.

  • This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. (and sad at the same time).

  • Walking the Razors edge was one hell of an album, this is actually one of its best tracks in my opinion

  • This song reminds me of my MOM

  • Me too...

...damn, I miss your mother RollergirlLenore - she was like Hurricane Katrina - the most powerful blow job I ever did see!

  • I lost my virginty to this song:) And it did not last the length of the song, but it was a beautiful thing... First love:)

  • so did i....it wasnt me was it?

  • One of the few remakes that's as good as the original!

  • And, we fell in love............

  • Ahh the 80's... great time to be young.

  • You know it dude!

  • @Frankopinion Damn right. I was young in the 80's. Young kids nowadays don't know how nice it is to be able to go to a good old 80's rock 'n roll bush party and have fun without worrying about getting shot, stabbed, or lynched.

  • @gtrefghuk soo right on that. it was all about partying, drinking, sex, and more sex.

maybe even drugging. ( not my thing though ). only those who were into that.

way too many bands, didn't get the recognotion they deserve.

another cool 80's band was, FASTWAY. the lead singer, looed like

danny bonaduchie from the PARTRIDGE FAMILY on their album, with the song

    TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT.

  • @fervent66 Yeah and he sounds like a more powerful version of Vince Neil. Fastway kicks ss

  • @Frankopinion Absolutely, the best decade ever IMHO!

  • helix rocks

  • these guys smell harder then pepporoni

  • I really appreciate you posting Helix's version. I am a child of the 70's, and I own a 45 of "A Foot in Cold Water's version of "Make me do" I think both are great to listen too.

once again, it's nice to have both versions, and they are both really good.

  • Brian looks really hot in this video. :D

  • logan is better

  • "Mom, I don't want to go back to ballet class. There's these older men all in leather with big hair leering at us while playing their loud music next door."

  • ...IoI...Cool.

  • LOL!

  • i will do anything 4 u tianamen knight!! i will love you for ever!!!! tim greene

  • Interesting video. A video that portrays a female as a clean, talented lady. Most rock videos portray the female as a scuzzy, skanky, whore.

  • what? rockers need some lovin too, groupies are just for that but you can show a woman's less dirty side too. now rap you could say that for but I don't see where you're coming from

  • i'm going to be seeing them tonight at the g town Festival

  • they are coming to North Bay tomorrow! woot ill be there!

  • i luv helix! u cant say NO to listening to it1 If you have a sirius radio they will play a whole bunch of songs from back in the 60s 70s 80s 90s and even hits from now! it is sooo awesome. anyone of you should get! you can get it @ walmart for only 30 bucks! well, in canada that is1 im not sure about the USA

  • Fritz if you read this get in touch with me, youre old neighbor. The Manor!!!!.

    Eric.

  • Who did this song originally?

  • a foot in cold water about 1974

  • Im an eighties girl..What band could one not love from the eighties.....especially Helix

  • Paul Hackman R.I.P. A great Canadian guitarist.

  • They do an awesome job with this song.....God Bless Paul!

  • Great song.

  • For Allan...with love Tara and Allanya

  • Beautiful voice

  • his voice doesnt sound as strained because their playing the song a half step down, a foot in cold water plays it in standard tuning

  • Great version of classic Canadian ballad!!.. Luv the stately ballet sequence..Solid band!! Cheers!!

  • btw, does anyone know if helix comes to the states anymore? i live in the SE michigan area.

  • If you go to thier offical website it tells of all dates and where they are playing....right now the closest to you is in Tiimins ont---July 13--unless of course you want to go to San antonio Texas

  • having listened to both versions of this ballad, i would agree with those who enjoy the Helix version better. the 3 things that stand out for me with regard to the Helix cover being superior are; #1 Helix picked the tempo up ever so slightly which works well. #2 the vocalist for ' a foot in cold water' doesnt have nearly the range and hence sounded a bit strained,..and 3rd i really liked what helix's guitarist did with the song as opposed to the other fellow. no knock on the other band though.

  • Totally agree, excellent solo by Helix's guitarist

  • beautiful version

  • man i love this ballad. plus these guys rocked it up as well as anyone. wonder why they get so little credit?

  • man i love this ballad. plus these guys rocked it up as well as anyone. wonder why they get so little credit?

  • Hey "FRITZ" From the motor city.....

  • exelente tema

  • Thank you so much. I have been waiting for Helix's version to be posted. I love "A Foot in Cold Waters" version, but was slightly ahead of my time. I am really glad its here now.

  • GREAT TUNE ... their cover is MUCH better than the original!! Awesome lyrics.. Great voice.

  • Love this tune

  • good tune, one of their best.
