How do you pronounce "Game over" in Japanese if you please? I am trying to learn Japanese in gaming and I have a interest in why game over in Japanese is spelt like it is. Is it composed of 4 words?

"Game over" is commonly spelled in katakana, which is a phonetic alphabet used to transcribe foreign words.

The transliteration of this katakana phrase is "GEEMU OOBAA", which is the closest possible way to write "game over" with a japanese alphabet, since in Japanese there is no "V" (substituted with "B") and consonants can't stand on their own, hence the "MU".

As you can see, it's not 4 words, but 4 syllables.

Either way, it's a bit hard to understand if you don't have much knowledge of Japanese. I suggest you look up "katakana" in Wikipedia or Google, and "japanese pronounciation guides". I'm sure there are amateur sites out there with enough info to get you started. : )

Thanks! It's interesting how certain things are pronounced and spelled. However you're translation looks like something that would be as close as possible. notice they have "--" to seperate the syllables. Maybe it's "Ge-emu-OO-BAA-" one may never know! Thanks for easing my curiousity, it's a pain in the ass lol.
