I also had that idea for a long time. But as you say there isn't such a system with points skills etc.

I can talk with my trainer (Marcel van Dongen) about the idea or grand master Frans Stroeven (trainer of my trainer). You know him? He's head of the World Knife Fighting Society, WKFS, head of doce pares Eskrima in Europe and sure one of the best - if it's not THE- best teacher in the world.

He can have some big influence in that.

So, did you participate on this WC in Mexico?

@WarriorRus I did compete in the 11th WC in Mexico and I took 2 golds in both single and double stick fighting. Our team was only 5 but we took home over 12 medals!

I can't wait for the 12th in the PI.

Mariah, what do you think about escrima becoming an olympic sport, do you think you can help make that happen??

That would be awesome! I am told that the issue with the Olympics is that for a sport to be recognized and inducted in, it must be completely ready to go, world wide. That means that countries from around the world must have specific, clear, and consistent rules and judging and a system set in place.

Unfortunately, even in WEKAF, there is not a rigid "system" with points for specific skills, theatrics, dress, presentation, stunts, etc.

I am 100% behind the effort. Let me know how I can help.

I am working hard too so that I can defend my titles. Regionals are in October. Then nationals in February. Will you fight? Single or Double? Are you doing forms too?

im working on forms as well. im from cebu philippines. il be fighting single stick. but i just started training. i doubt il be ready on time for the qualifiers. but it wont hurt to try :)

I don't think I got a chance to reply to your question about the PHilippines. I am sorry it has taken so long. I had a wonderful time in the Philippines and the competition went very well! I won the Gold in Traditional Multiple Weapons, Gold in Full Contact Double Stick Fighting, and the Silver in Single Stick. I got to experience the culture and meet so many amazing people! I love Arnis/Eskrima! It has taken me places and introduced me to people I would never have known!
