I'm 62 and living on the island of Kauai. Coming from Texas, I lived in Marin from 1973 to 1982. I had worked myself through college and just wanted to live in the Bay Area. I was working-class. Started out in Sausalito (2 years). Got a job washing dishes for Zimm's Restaurants with my college degree. In 7 months, I was part of management. Had two female roomates in a house that look right at Angel Island. It was the most fun I've ever had in my life. Probably slept with over 300 women. Wild.
Marin County has the highest Breast and Prostate cancer rate in America. And there is NO industry there, and no one has to Work. Why the cancer? Although there is enough wind in their elite mountains and ocean to power Wind Turbines, you will never see any Solar or Wind Turbines. Why? These super rich elite are all green hypocrites.
I WANT IT ALL NOW, but I want someone else to recycle it for me when I'm done with it. What about the art? The music? The bicycles? Christo's Running Fence? Spirulina? The Trailside Killer? The blow? The Quayludes? The Record Plant! George Jackson at San Quentin? Jonathan Jackson and Angela Davis at the Marin County Courthouse? Skywalker Ranch? Marin Open Space? THAT was Marin in the '70s. Oh yeah, and EST, Synanon, LifeSpring, and Primal Screaming for keeping your head together.
as a kid I remember the t-shirts they used to sell there - they had the photo of a womans feet and 2 peacock feathers with the caption under that said I WANT IT ALL NOW! , MARIN COUNTY,CA how appropriate!! lol
