@even246 It probably should but I still recommend getting a manual, maybe wherever there's one for a free download. I got a Canon Super 8 as well in XL form. Happy New Year by the way.
dear kodak why not sell filter keys? lots of cameras on ebay and elsewhere are sold with them missing . I know lots of super 8 cameras dont need them but many doi
@NumbskullPictures1 sure thing. if you head to the kodak website you'll want to click in the upper right and scroll down on the menu to pro photographers. then select labs > find a lab. sorry youtube won't let me add a link. I'll try to send you a message with one.
I have a quite question I have a fully automatic Chinon 722 Cine Camera, will this film work in it without a problem? if so what problems will I have, as the guy states in the video Automatic cameras should be fine
@jimdevo Any cine camera that uses Super 8, except now the amber filter has to be swung out of the lens taking field either by using the button or metal filter keys. Aperture has to be increased to a higher number to take into account faster film speed, also.
@jimdevo Re question: I think a top of the range camera like the Canon would adjust automatically for exposure, unlike my old manual one. You just set the film speed of 100, and use button to swing amber filter out for this new Kodak Ektachrome 100 (It's now the new market contender for colour)
I really like Ektachrome 100D. I feel it is an excellent alternative to the discontinued Kodachrome 40. Ektachrome 100D is sharp, puts out great colors, and is actually more sensitive than Kodachrome 40 for lower light exteriors.
If there is a downside, it would be when shooting indoors with tungsten light the Ektachrome 100D is rated at 25 ASA, whereas Kodachrome 40 was rated 40 ASA indoors. If shooting Ektachrome 100d in bright middle of the day light your exposure could be around f16-f22.
I am barely making the transition from digital to super 8. I have been looking for super 8 cameras online and the prices vary from site to site even on same models. Does anyone recommend a certain camera model? Site? Processing sites?
@vergoide Any, I would have thought. I picked up a Kodak Instamatic M2 movie cine camera from a car boot sale for £10. I then bought a super 8 cine projector cheaply, to play.
I buy super 8 films and get them processed at the Widescreen Centre in London (see mailorder website). They can also transfer cine straight to DVD.
@vergoide Get a Kodak M4 or M2. They can be had for just a few dollars. They only do 18 fps and it's fixed focus, but, they have a prime lens. Also, they are very easy to take apart and repair and also clean ALL the lenses. Look at the battery contacts inside and out. It it doesn't fire up there's probably a little oxidation that's easy to clean.
I didn't realise Kodak were still making super 8 film! IGlad to see that people still use film. The Kodak Ektachromes that I use in my Hasselblad are fantastic, they could never be surpassed by digital.
Hey Kodak. I mean, super8 is still alive. But in order to continue the super 8 line more efficiently, you guys should make super 8 film tanks so we consumers can develop our reversal films at home because I will not pay 16 dollars just for processing a roll. Make it fun, make it last, make it cheap.
@roaming2 Totally agree. I process my own 120 and 35mm still camera films. Been doing it years but I'd love to be able to process cine film. Anyone got any idea on gow to make a processing tank that will hold 100ft of 16mm film?
As a long time Super 8 user, since 1975, I just want to say thanks for continuing to make Super 8 filmstock. I will miss the Ektachrome 64T, and Plus-X, captmanonymous is right that Tri_X is just too grainy for many shots. It would be great to bring these two stocks back, since you still make them for 16mm.
Again,. I just want to say thanks for continuing to make Super 8.
This is great news!! Thank you Kodak for introducing 100D and for keeping the Super 8mm film format alive and well! This newest addition should really help Super 8 in a big way. I am looking forward to trying this film out very soon.
Thanks so much for all your comments and your support for KODAK's Super 8mm film! For info regarding exposure and filter usage, head to the kodak site and search KODAK EKTACHROME.
I started using super 8 a year ago and used ektachrome 64T and I thought the film gave out great results. But I shall enjoy using this one. May super 8 live on!
Are you saying that the amber filter, which is usually on for Ektachrome 64t or old Kodachrome 40, has to be disabled with the metal filter keys, for this daylight balanced 100d?
This is a good you tube video, Sir: But how much of an f. stop should I adjust for the new 100d compared to the 64t (I assume it will require slightly less exposure ie a slightly higher number). So the 64t was tungsten not daylight balanced, am I right? I look forward to your reply.
@jtaellio11 It's 2/3 stop faster, but you could probably go a full stop without any problem.
And yes, the E64T was a tungsten-based stock. Quite frankly, I wondered how they decided that what they needed was another tungsten-based stock. It seems the majority of the videos you find on Youtube with E64T were all shot outdoors.
@cubdukat Thank you very much for your reply: perhaps the smaller aperture will improve the depth of field and therefore sharpness of the cine image, with this new stock. I will try 2/3 stop faster, although I know the amber filter meant it reduced the light sensitivity to asa 40 for 64t.
About time! I just bought and developed a cartridge of this stock through another company, although I've already experienced it with my DS8 camera. I can't believe it took Kodak this long to spool it themselves, this was obviously a much better choice then 64T- and yes what an insult to injury they not only killed Kodachrome on its anniversary but also replaced it with a much less then worthy stock. Is it true they're discontinuing Plus-x(!!??)
I've shot Ektachrome 100D double 8mm film and the colors are simply wonderful!
Please don't eliminate Plus-x; even though I personally prefer the tone and grain of Tri-x, I don't want to have to worry about fumbling around with a ND filter
Really is the best news for Super 8ers in 45 years. This stock rocks. Super fine grain, happy, happy colors. I can't wait to go bankrupt because my overuse of this stock. I hope it is priced as well if not better that the current 64t. Long live Kodak, Long live this product........ Again ... Great news.
@blue1966fairmont I took a gander over to B&H Photo's website, and it seems that it's selling for less. They want $14.95 a pop for it. They don't even list E64T's price anymore, but I do believe that it was higher than that.
It was out of stock for a couple days, but they have it listed as being back in stock again. I'm definitely going to get some.
@x05e I wonder just how close they are to putting this out. I talked to the guys at Spectra in Burbank, and they seem to think that it could be at least six months away becaue Kodak wants to get rid of their supply of E64T, and Spectra will probably keep selling their own E100D until their stock's exhausted.
Still, I'm definitely getting my hands on this as soon as possible. I've worked with it in 16mm and it's beautiful stuff.
can i use this film for a kodak instamatic m4??
