*sighs* This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. Like you said, the scenes where we actually see Ghost Rider are bad ass, but Nicholas Cage sucks in this movie. Also I completely agree about the villains, except I refer to them as "Twilight Cast rejects" but rejected boy band works too. Regardless it doesn't change the fact that the Rider deserves better than what we got. I'm debating whether or not to see the second movie and i'm leaning towards "not" with what I heard.

There is one thing than I truly don't understand about this movie. You have a great character, a umperfect director but passionate, who love the character and the comic who report the release date of the movie for perfect it and a Actor that, even in bad movie, is fun and energic, who also love this character to the point that he use is ressource to play it, all that passion... The worst thing about it all is that Cage actually got close to the real persona of Ghost Rider in Drive Angry from what I've heard. I could see the makings of a good movie in this film, I really could, and I wanted to like it. The Ghost Rider transfomration scenes were awesome, the hellcycle was badass, Johnny and Slade riding to the town together...6-10 on the epic meter (points taken of for that being the last we SEE of Slade!). Hope the sequell is better, but I'm not holding my breath.

EROOOOOD! The teaser for the Ghost Rider sequal is on Youtube! Looks like incredible special effects but story and acting could still be crap. But really CHECK IT OUT!!!!
There was almost NO ACTION IN THE WHOLE MOVIE. There were no fights. Just flaming sculls and lame badguys getting killed in the pussyest ways possible.
Just watched this for the first time tonight, and the dumbasses I hang around with actually thought it was OK. I was like, surely I'm not the only one who can see how awful this is? Thankyou internet, thankyou Rottentomatoes, and thankyou Erod2010. Sweet vindication.
I wouldn't mind a reboot of this film at all. If I was the one who was in control; I would base it off of the first story arc from the 90's comics with Danny Ketch. In my opinion the guy who played the young Nicolas Cage wasn't that bad, and I would recast him as Danny.
Oh and ERod apparently the Penance stare works on anyone who has a soul, so its not surprising that it worked on Powered up Blackheart but the thing is that Blackheart didn't have a soul to begin with so the stare shouldn't have killed him it should've just weakned him to the point where he has to retreat in order to appear in the sequel

Hey, Erod, although the driving up the wall part was kinda dumb, it was pretty badass when he grinds off the bridge into the river and then drives on top of the water away from the police and flips them off along the way. That is a whole new way of saying, "Fuck da police!" Also, if I were the cops and I am chasing a flaming skeleton, after seeing him drive on water and up a building, I would look at the chief who wants me to shoot the monster and say, "Screw you guys, I'm going home."
@miledymilord They came out with a whole toy line when the show was on the air. I found my figure in a EB Games store IN A CLEARANCE BIN!!!! I payed one dollar for him!!!! Can you believe that? Not only does he have sword swinging action, but he comes with his sword, sheath , and a full set of armor like he wears in the pilot episode.
I funny thing is blackheart looks like a big black demon with spinky hair and a tail. If yopu want to see what he looks like, play marvel vs capcom2 or go on google images and search blackheart marvel.
blackheart got killed because he absorbed all the souls in the contract and thats why the penance stare worked

I personally like Nicholas Cage in all movies I've seen him in, admitedly I've never seen this movie or um.. the wickerman? or whatever that movie was called, as well as probably a multitude of others, National Treasure with Cage is infact one of my favorite movies of all time, admitedly that movie was also my first date and both of us could not stop going "Look... staaaaaairs..!" the entire way home whenever we saw stairs, but anyway, love your review, and I took too long getting to the point.

@pskullv Okay firstly I'm Ghost Rider Fan, I know his name is Blackheart, I got mixed up while I was performing and have been apologizing for this for two years now.
Lastly, I know how the penance stare works, but the movie still did a shitty job of explaining it. And that is the point that I was trying to get across.

@EditDeath Now that that's out of my system, I'd just like to point out something regarding the ending. The scroll held the souls of a thousand evil souls. Presumably, these were human souls. Therefore, when the devil spawn absorbed them, their human sins made him vulnerable to the penance stare because he experienced the sins of a thousand souls. I'm not defending it in the least, just explaining why the real problem was that this solution was so telegraphed I saw it coming upon first viewing.

I wouldn't mind a reboot of this film at all. If I was the one who was in control; I would base it off of the first story arc from the 90's comics with Danny Ketch. In my opinion the guy who played the young Nicolas Cage wasn't that bad, and I would recast him as Danny.

Oh and ERod apparently the Penance stare works on anyone who has a soul, so its not surprising that it worked on Powered up Blackheart but the thing is that Blackheart didn't have a soul to begin with so the stare shouldn't have killed him it should've just weakned him to the point where he has to retreat in order to appear in the sequel

i liked the gothic aspects of it and the dark or near dark tone of the movie and would have liked it go further in that direction. and they didnt really. but it was pg-13, had it been R it would have kicked ass.

Hey, Erod, although the driving up the wall part was kinda dumb, it was pretty badass when he grinds off the bridge into the river and then drives on top of the water away from the police and flips them off along the way. That is a whole new way of saying, "Fuck da police!" Also, if I were the cops and I am chasing a flaming skeleton, after seeing him drive on water and up a building, I would look at the chief who wants me to shoot the monster and say, "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

@miledymilord They came out with a whole toy line when the show was on the air. I found my figure in a EB Games store IN A CLEARANCE BIN!!!! I payed one dollar for him!!!! Can you believe that? Not only does he have sword swinging action, but he comes with his sword, sheath , and a full set of armor like he wears in the pilot episode.
