It's 2008, almost 2009 and we still haven't got those kind of videogames like that! I'm dissapointed! And the blue people look like the people from daft punk ;p
The 80s were the golden age of cartoon production. Back when shows could convey the extraordinary very well they fell back on cartoons to convey it. Unfortunately political correctness and dumbed down plots have destroyed the tradition of good cartoons, removing the potential to impress adults and children alike. Sorry that was a bit gri but sadly true.
@Orumon27 I think that was actually very well written, and also very true. The 90s still salvaged some good cartoons, but the 00s produced very few good cartoons...
@tugatomsk I grew up, mostly, on the 90s era of cartoons and I don't miss 'em. The 00s had so good pieces (but throught the last decade we've fallen back on japanese anime to pick up the slack)
@Orumon27 What are the good cartoons of the 00's? Seriously, I'm curious, because I have to think hard to remember them. The only two from that era that pops on my mind are "My Life as a Teenage Robot" and "Time Squad", but even those two were "comedy + originality" orientated.
@tugatomsk Like I said, we've fallen back on japanese anime to pick up the slack (Rurouni Kenshin and Gantz spring to mind). Avatar the last airbender (the cartoon and series) was also a good mix of dramatic storytelling, acting and comedy (and that was one of the few 'western' pieces worth watching to me int he 00s). Transformers Animated as well (in places).
the 00s were a period of recovery. However, as the new decade has become active we've seen some good cartoons.
@Orumon27 I agree. And not only that, but back then in the 1980's JAPAN ruled over all- they created and did most of the overseas animation to all of our cartoons back then.
@Orumon27 Not really. Most of our cartoons nowadays are animated by the Korean companies as well as the companies from Taiwan and China. I feel that Japan should do the overseas animation to the Nicktoons as well as Cartoon Network's own creations, but they hired Rough Draft Studios in Seoul, Korea to do it instead.
@Orumon27 Yes, and that really irritates me just because the cartoon creators think it is cheaper to have Korea produce them than Japan. Korea's animation as well as Taiwan and China's overseas animation to cartoons is sub-par and terrible. Cartoons severely changed in the 90's. They were no longer about action, good music and storylines like this cartoon. They were all about these 2 words: COMEDY and ORIGINALITY, and John K as well as Gerry Laybourne's Nicktoons ruined everything.
@MysticArksRevenge Actually, 'Originality' is a good thing. Comedy is also good, but on it's own it can't carry a cartoon (note that Tom and Jerry or Looney toons are exceedingly violent, moreso than 'serious' animation).
Returning to the originality point, the 90s initially had some innovative cartoons, but due to a combination of people copying these ideas and 'concerned parents' the 90s cartoons quickly became grimly formulaic, which is the exact opposite of originality.
@Orumon27 Oh. I agree. That is basically why cartoons from the EARLY 90's were good. But I am more into cartoons like The Real Ghostbusters, Ulysses 31, Transformers G1, G.I. JOE (Sunbow), and The Centurions. You can never have cartoons like those in the 90's or nowadays, since everything has to be politically correct and suitable for children.
@Orumon27 Yes. And since I want to be an animator along with my friend, hopefully we team up and create our own studio, so we can bring back everything that the 1980's cartoons had, and with absolutely no interference with the stupid-ass concerned parents, network executives, and with absolutely no political correctness.
@MysticArksRevenge Probably. Bear in mind that the true strength of a story is the story itself and how it's told. Ignoring censorship just means you've got more options.
@MysticArksRevenge Best advice there: write the story, leave it for a year, then come back to it and read it through. If you find the story crap, ust rewrite it. Rinse, repeat until results satisfy.
Also, read lots of books, comics, watch TV shows and even real life experience. It all adds to your knowledge.
@xchosen0nex ur comment made me cry man, i love this cartoon to death and i also thank kitty for being a badass and uploading this epic cartoon...lets enjoy it!!
@kiko0311 I'm glad i was able to evoke such positive emotion in you. And i know exactly how you feel.
If only we had more of such people I'm sure the world would look allot different. It's not the content that matters. Its the act of kindness in itself. The need to share because of the happiness it will bring others. Beautiful..
This was one of my fav`s as a kid, great music - this and Dungeons n Dragons. I wonder after all these years and since they`re grown up now, did Telemachus and Umi ever get it on(interstellar style :)???
