@chyka1 if you listen to the coast guard transmission you`ll hear the coast guard officer asking the captain why he is in a life boat going away from the ship with his senior staff when there are people stuck on board. apparently, the coast goard also contacted the ship shortly after the accident because passengers had contacted them, but the captain just dismissed it as an electrical blackout. he waited until 1.5 hrs later to order evacuation and contact coast guard.
@chyka1 plus, in the amature vids you hear him say that its just a black out and itll be fixed soon. its a big lie to tell considering he was personally present on main deck to guide the ship when it the rocks! in my opinion the captain failed hands down because he made so many errors of judgement but that doesnt mean the rest of senior staff, and the cruise ship industry is not to blame. billion dollar businesses are always quick to dodge bullets and point fingers.

@Shoopacabra i heard on a CBC documentary that when the captain slipped and fell into a life boat, it was the same life boat that the rest of the senior officers of the ship had slipped and fallen into. what are the odds! so in essence, the people who evacuated the ship were general staff and some junior officers. plus the coast goard and deputy mayor and other non-staff individuals.
I am a safety manager in the private sector. I travelled two times with Costa (Mediterranea and Pacifica). Both trips were included well organized emergency drills at the beginning of the trip. I do not understand why did not happen the same at Concordia? This case is unacceptable from any passenger’s point of view. I am a safety manager in the private sector. I travelled two times with Costa (Mediterranea and Pacifica). Both trips were included well organized emergency drills at the beginning of the trip. I do not understand why did not happen the same at Concordia? This case is unacceptable from any passenger’s point of view.
