This clip was from an 'Arena' Heavy Metal special, shown on the BBC in the late 80's. The original film had sync issues with sound. Thomas is even more of an amazing guitar player these days! He's also a production wiz!

It's the mpeg compression scheme that's causing the sync error. The format is essentially "broken" and no one knows how to fix it.

FYI it's actually overdubbed...it was originally broadcast that way, mpegs didn't even exist then!

The original may not have been an mpeg, but the version uploaded to You Tube is. A bad overdub job could also cause sync error, of course. What makes you think this video was overdubbed?

I know THIS is an mpeg of course (I uploaded it) but when you view the original broadcast footage, which I still have, it is obvious that the footage does not match the soundtrack by a long shot, not just out of sync, but edited together to make for better viewing...

I heard he lives in the states and is an unbelievable player these days as he was then. He hasnt been heard in North East UK for a long time to my knowledge. My m8, Les Tones was offered by his dad to go touring with him.
