@BoiAero I just use damp, very fine, wire wool and very, very gently rub off the numbers. It's worked fine up to now.

Thanks Ralph. I don't actually know where it came from. It was sent to me by a railway forum member as an mp3 and it fitted the vid, so I used it :-)
