THIS IS NEARLY EXACT WHAT MY DAUGHTER DOES..my daughter is about to have a in hospital 3-6 day Video EEG at the Baptist Children's Hospital in Winston Salem, NC I sure hope we figure out what this is from! she also has black out moments, terribly forgetful and has other jerk issues ... I just need answers we can deal with anything as long as we know what we are dealing with.
not everything has to do with touretts i did this for almost a year but its not a tick alot of people do that when there eyes get dry or when they feel drowsy
Hi, My daughter is 21 months and also a red head (which has nothing to do with anything but just coincidence i guess) But I noticed that a long with the eye movement and the shaking of her head from side to side (which my daughter often does) she also has large gaps between her teeth. I know that you've been given a diagnosis of tourettes but I was wondering if she has presented with any other symptoms and at what age? My daughter has developmental delay and is still not walking.
@bethhullrushworth The gaps mean she will need a frenectomy when she begins orthodontic treatment. She has no developmental delays, actually hit most milestones early (walking at 9 months, large vocabulary, etc.) She has too many tourette symptoms to list, Dr. says she is severe. Her first definite symptoms were present at age 5, but she had some "habits" in the toddler years that may have been early tics and dismissed as age appropriate behavior.
i have been watchin her in ur videos and when she is looking at one thing or talking, she doesnt tick, a therapy would be something like her following your one finger back and forth something like that as a game, building her eye muscles to control...
It didn't seem to me that she blanked out it seemed as though something became more important than that cookie momentarily lol.
I wish you well, my son is now 10 and doing reasonably well. Nothing resolves the situation 100% but making things livable so that kids at school don't tease becomes very important as they move up In school.
Kids can be very cruel. But so far we are rolling with the punches. Being informed is our best tool
She hasn't been on heart meds for years. What is she doing with her mouth that does that?? I give her tubes of chapstick to carry around with her but nothing seems to make it go away! We went to the Dr today and they diagnosed her with Complex Tic Disorder. Said to watch out for verbal or bodily tics. She has a sleep deprived EEG on Wed, and she was given glasses today, because apparently since her last exam two months agao (when she was 20/20) she can hardly see the eye chart. That normal?
@angelvasica she is pursing her lips and moving them to one side, puts her lower lip over her top lip, licks the top lip. The chapped area probably won't heal until she stops. Camryn licks her lips all around, so she ends up with a chapped ring around her entire mouth. It heals when she stops, but returns when the tic does. As for the Dr. telling you to watch out for verbal tics, it is probably because you must have verbal and motor tics for at least 1 year, then your diagnoses becomes TS
@angelvasica Also, I would mention her vision problems to the neurologist when she gets the EEG. It is probably a coincidence. Cam has astigmatism, but it has nothing to do with the tics.
@nonconformistwoman : Thanks so much for sharing. My daughter turns 5 March 9, and after she was given a 3 doses of vaccinations It may be a conscience or not... I have noticed her tics 4 days later while in a gymnastic clinic . Mostly her movement is in the eyes and head. Rolling eyes to the right and head movement up and out to left and even "bucking eyes". I have noticed that all our children have big beautiful eyes. :) She goes to her first Neuro appt on Wednesday 16th.
My 8 years old son started doing exactly the same eye movement as that of your beautiful daughter. This only started about a week ago and we are really worried. Would you please tell me how the little angel is doing right now. The movement is almost identical even the head movement that accompanies the eye movement.....
@shehab98 Camryn is doing well. She has Tourette Syndrome. The movements you see in the video are called tics. She has developed many tics all over her body during the past year. She is a child in constant motion.
There are a lot of conditions that can cause abnormal movement. You need to take your son to his pediatrician. He will probably be referred to a neurologist. Try to take video of him with you, because it is easier to show the Dr. than describe it. Good luck!
@shehab98 My 7 year old daughter just started doing these same two things (eye rolling up and out and head tilting down) a couple of days ago. It seems to get worse when she's upset. I have an appointment with a doctor tomorrow and am so worried. SHe already has a heart condition that she will require her to have surgeries for the rest of her life.... I can't imagine her dealing with something else. Could it be something else? Have you heard of these movements being caused by something else?
@angelvasica I watched your videos. Your daughter also has a tic with her mouth. Camryn does the same thing, it makes the skin around her mouth chapped. Is your daughter on medication for her heart condition? Some meds can stimulate tics.
Hi, my five year old son started having facial tics in late Feb. I have had him tested for many things, and recently, his ANtiDNAse- B teter came back positive ( strep). His original throat test came back negative. We are investigating PANDAS. He did not ever have a sore throat, but has had in his system. Please keep posting your findings!

@IsThisTourettes Thanks :) My husband and I watched some of yours and think she has some of the same tics you do. You also have similiar personalities! I think she has TS, but she is about 4 months shy of the 12 month mark used to distinguish between transient tics and TS. She has some echolalia/palilalia in addition to the motor tics. Your videos have been so helpful/educational for us as parents. Thank you for posting them!
Maybe these are tiny seizures? Sometimes they happen in clusters. My daughter has complex partial seizures but recently I have seen her do something funny with her eyes and it is kind of like what you daughter is doing. She would only do it once though. Maybe your Dr. will give her an EEG? My daughter also has seizures that she doesn't stop at all what she is doing and her eye blinks.
@amysarahh After veiwing our clips, the neuro's staff made sure she was doing this during her eeg and marking each eye roll. Her results were normal and the Dr. believes it is tics.

This looks similar to something my daughter has recently started doing. Have you gotten a diagnosis? We're still working on one.

@indayloveschocolate She has Tourette Syndrome. It took about 1 year for a diagnoses.
