How naive! He's speaking to people that presumably haven't read up on monetary and credit theory and starts with an extremely misleading question.
He probably couldn't get through one of Menger's treatises on the subject of money and credit. He's just babbling off typical Keynesian nonsense. If the market were allowed to choose which currency to use, it would choose gold and silver.
Holy cow this guy is unreal. 1 ring made of gold or a million dollars? That's not even a relative comparison. The value of gold in relation to dollars needs to be taken into account. The true question is would you rather have 1 gold ring valued at a few hundred dollars or the same few hundred dollars. If you are saving, the gold is a way better store of value. I can't believe this guy is considered an educated adult?
it isn't just about inflation, it is about a government that can create its own money without even taxing, just print the money behind the people's backs.
