  • I would be equally offended if a reslife coordinator asked me about my "sexual identity." A person's sex life is their own private business. Indulge your sexual desires in your own bedroom with your own partner. I don't want to hear about your sex life, nor do I want to tell you about mine.

  • I would have just started grabbing marshmallows when I saw how things were starting to go.

The key to winning a rigged game is to change the rules. Who cares if nobody else likes it, as long as you have the gumption to pull it off.

  • this is such BS. This is not an indoctrination... these questions mean a lot to understanding and being able to place your feet into the shoes of minorities. As a minority on several different fronts, Ive taken part in programs like the student described and the point of them isnt to make white males feel bad, it's to bring to light that in every day life white males are realisticly the ones who are not going to be targeted or looked down upon in society. Ofocurse I find it interesting that..

  • I worked for Res Life before and after college (until I got wise). It is a close-minded, prejudiced cult/movement that respects NO ONE WHO DISAGREES. One "Assoc Director" even told us that those with learning disabilities were the same as those who were schizophrenic!!!! TRUE. And God forbid you disagreed with her.

ANY RES LIFE PROGRAM IS A WASTE OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS.

  • Good Job Bill, I am happy to not have my name associated with U of D. Instead I go to another school where if you are a racist then you just get beat up.

  • There is no doubt that Universities across the world have become infested with liberal marxist, PC fanatics. They indoctrinate on many issues and are churning out legions of automatons who have learned nothing but repeated ideology. This type of agenda is rampant in UK Universities but no one will speak out for fear of being cast as...yes a racist. This must be stopped and the people that perpetrate are so obsessed they are in fact racists.

  • Also during Bill's experience he isolated himself and did not share with the group what he was thought about the matter. It could have lead to a discussion which is the programs point.

  • You are obsessed. Stop spamming all the comment boards with your long-winded nonsense. Who are you to say what this guy did or did not do? I would sooner trust him than a creepy stalker across the internet. You just sound like you're bitter that he was on TV and you did not.

  • Yes I agree that the school's approach was poor but the message and goal is an admirable one and one that needs to be taught. Of course some one will feel uncomfortable when talking about these issues because they are tough issues to talk about and have a painful history, plus these are facts that some would not like to acknowledge.

  • That's the point; to share and understand acceptance not shut it down because you don't like it or it makes you feel bad. the point is not to send someone on a guilt trip but to understand and challenge the thinking behind it. my question to all the nay sayers it what is the real message being sent if a diversity workshop that took years and several representatives of different minority groups is shut down.

  • Also what does it say to the people that want to learn and know about other cultures in which this program gave them the opportunity to have dialogue with someone outside their comfort zone?

From what I thought, college is about higher education filled with people of different backgrounds, races, creeds, color all having the same goal, to learn.

  • well you're wrong. 'higher education' is about learning what you need to learn to get a job and make money. if you're in college to make friends from all over the world? join a club. no one will stop you. you just can't expect everyone to sit around a camp fire and sing songs and talk about PC issues. to some its a welcome subject of conversation... to others an insult to their intelligence and perhaps even a waste of time and as such a waste of tuition dollars.

  • I think it's sad and scary that the knowledge, in which you don't have to accept it but just be informed so that you won't have a stereotypical or bias view of another person's way of life. Things like this hinders our growth because some people feel targeted rather than finding out the reason why.

  • Easy fix for the U of D problem. Stop giving contributions to school with racist programs. Don't enroll your kids at that school. Sue the school using the same laws that protect every other race or ethnic group. Money will always level the playing field. If they want diversity and fairness they must actually teach it, not blame another race. This only serves to strengthen prejudice. That program is a slap in the face to everyone who has paid monies to send there children to U of D.
