Michael Parenti has been to me an excellent model of a critical thinker for decades. I thank the athiest gods that he is out there sharing the truth about the nature of this society with others. This piece dissects the nature of the American economy in the first two minutes.
Parenti never claimed that he was.. The point is that Tudjman very much sympathized with the Ustasas.. When the US installed him as the president of Croatia he appointed former ustasas in his cabinet but that's pretty well known.. The bigger point is that he was put in power by the west because he guaranteed to remove Croatia out of Yugoslavia and in return the Western powers would help him ethnically cleanse the Serbian population of Croatia which is what happened in 1995.
The Ustaše was put back into power by the German BND, or the new Gestapo.
It was well known after WW2 that Germany had every intention of recreating the Croatian republic that they had envisioned/created during WW2, at the expense of the Serbian people's of course. To say that the entire Croatian parliament/military structure at that time was not Fascist Nazi's is to insult the thousands of victims they have brutalized. Ethnic cleansing was always a priority of the Ustaše.

Dr. Parenti was 66 when he gave this awesome speech. Most upper middle class and higher in "column A" don't have a fraction of the intellect, piss and vinegar, humor, and moral spine that Parenti has. Through the 2000's to the present Parenti is still giving these types of speeches. He is an inspiration to all of us who want and need justice, that the fight for justice can be an energizing and life long aspiration and mighty activity.
btw, just a note about the fine human being Dr. Parenti's style of rhetoric. Like Chomsky, and others, Parenti goes back n forth from the first person, second and third person without introducing a statement with I, you or him(plural they). I only mention this because some younger viewers might be confused when Parenti starts saying something like "military/industrial complex does good things"(read long ago in article). I keep telling my friends that the US planned the breakup of Yuguslavia and they think I am full of shit. I always tell them that it's a public record called the 1991 Foreign Operations Appropriations Act. At one time Slobodan was Washington's boy because he was an upper middle class banker who might help them break up the federation until he became more of an hindrance than a tool. Dr. Parenti was 66 when he gave this awesome speech. Most upper middle class and higher in "column A" don't have a fraction of the intellect, piss and vinegar, humor, and moral spine that Parenti has. Through the 2000's to the present Parenti is still giving these types of speeches. All the former republics of Yugoslavia, with the exception of Slovenia, are pre-industrial countries now, without national policies, mere colonies, disoriented nations. In the mid-80's a saintly organizer I knew was selling Parenti cassettes for $1.I took home 8 of them and spent a week listening to them over and over nonstop. It was so exhilerating! @johneymute the war in whole of yugoslavia was from 1991-1995 the war in kosovo was from 1998-1999 and the nato bombing was 1999. They bombed schools and hospitals bcuz they ran out of military targets within the first week and slobodan milosevic still had not surrendered to their rambolliete ultimate. eventually he did june 10th and that has ultimately led to kosovo's independence today

Do you know what democracy represent? Democracy represent a will of people, peoples political power. In democracy ppl speaks through their delegates in senat, or parlament. In USA every senator work for himself not for the ppl. that is a fact my friend. And american democracy is a diferent story. Listen and see political situation in USA, it's lead to total Disaster of American nation. Democracy like communism is not used in native (founders) form.

I keep telling my friends that the US planned the breakup of Yuguslavia and they think I am full of shit. I always tell them that it's a public record called the 1991 Foreign Operations Appropriations Act. At one time Slobodan was Washington's boy because he was an upper middle class banker who might help them break up the federation until he became more of an hindrance than a tool. Even Carla Del Ponte has seen or heard no evidence of so called Serbian atrocities.

He is really good. Tells like it is, but honestly he does not have all his facts right. The bomb that was dropped in Sarajevo at the market was true. I was a child in that war and i remember it and my father was not far away form the situation. Over all he speaks the truth well
