Wing chun, Kung fu, Wushu, Taekwondo, Ninjutsu, etc. "masters" all got their asses handed to them by Boxers, Wrestlers, Kickboxers, Muay Thai fighters, and Grapplers like Royce Gracie. The most basic styles turned out to be the most effective and realistic. While all the ancient chinese stuff you see in movies turned out to be useless and fake, Even Pro Wrestling is WAY more effective than that movie nonsense.

All of those styles have their strengths and weaknesses, but as Bruce Lee, and later the sport of MMA would prove, in a real fight, you throw out what is useless and use what is effective.
