  • Fantastic setup there. I still need to get my components mounted on the wall for my solar setup. BTW I noticed you have another inverter on the right side colored Blue.. How well did that work for you? I only require 1000 True-sine watt inverter for my setup so I am searching for options.

  • @solaris3000 The yellow inverter is a 1500 pure sine wave inverter and I could have gotten a bigger modified sine wave and still been ok since most devices could care less anymore. Most battery backups use square waves or modified sine waves and I can run everything on those so. The inverter on the right is a grid tie inverter and it worked out but it's not very efficient, maybe 80%-ish but then again it was pretty cheap compared to what 1000W+ of grid tie inverters would cost you.

  • @TheSolarProject Thanks! Yes, the MorningStar controllers come highly rated and talked about. I went with MPPT because I need to squeeze every drop of power I can get to live off this portable system. Also, always make sure your solar Vmp is higher than your battery bank voltage when you use a MPPT controller. I'll be posting more videos as this system progresses, thanks for watching.

  • @helloman1976 -- The voltage from your solar panels needs to be higher than the voltage of your batteries, no matter what type of charge controller you use. Electricity has to push its way in, and if the battery voltage is higher than the solar panel voltage, there won't be enough power from the solar panels to push electricity to the batteries. 12-volt batteries are fully charged at around 14.5 volts, so the solar panels should put out more voltage than that. Around 17 volts +.

  • @michael970 Thanks brotha, did you ever get your batteries? These Walmart deep cycles seem to be worth the price. I'm going to be posting some actual load tests, a inverter review and a MPPT charge controller review. I have quiet a bit of wiring to do still so it'll be a while. :)
