  • thanks man! u saved life!

  • cool tut, man: is there a way to have the pitch wheel of a NN-XT or NN-19 to pitch the sample but keeping it at the same tempo?

  • HEY MAKE A ANOTHER TUTORIAL I WAHNT TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE MPC EFECT LIKE THE FPS IN FRUITY LOOPS LIKE PLYA A ENTIRE LOOP WHIT 1 BOUTON AND THE LOOP STOP WHEN I PUSH ANOTHER BOUTON PLEASSE I BENN LOKING FOR THIS A LONG TIME

  • I have drum/instrumental loop in NNXT, how do i change the pitch of this?

  • Hi dan, how would the tempo change if I wanted to pitch only let's say 3 or 4 keys? is there a formula for that? greets

  • tell how 2 pitch-shift not only 2 pitch. why i should use the nnxt 4 one damn sample bro?

    if i could use the nn19 4 this !

  • Maybe u can assist me.. I load a sample that i save as a rex, when loading to the nnxt there is no playback. i hear nothing.. what am i doing wrong?

  • Hey Dan I'm working with more than one sample, but i want to keep the samples at their original key not matter what key it's placed on ?

  • IS THAT REALLY impossible to change the pitch without also affecting the tempo...

this question has never been answered yet...

  • @ahabadong you can do it in audacity using a filter

  • @booshpower but that requires another program...i was thinking of using a sample and be able to play it just as you would with any other instrument on reason

  • @ahabadong oh right, but audacity is free to use

  • @booshpower What filter?

  • @supajonkata there's a tutorial on youtube somewhere that'll explain, i can't really remember, that's how i found out and it worked :)

  • @ahabadong

    In Audacity:

You just go to effects and select change pitch and it will change the pitch without changing the tempo.

  • @supajonkata @booshpower

    guys guys guys....

we're trying to solve the problem using Reason alone

    without any other programs....

  • how do you change pitch but not speed? like how do you mess with the pitch wheel and keep it up all the way without a midi controller?

  • Thanks for your help. The NN-XT sample bass lines were never low enough for me, until now. lol

  • Good clean crisp tutorials

  • how do you change speed but not pitch

  • how to change pitch but not the speed?

i can do it in FL but how about in REASON?

  • its just not possible, as sad as it is =(

  • Thanks, this really helped! And the distorted rooster sounds were hilarious.

  • @mayzon111222

Nice to meet you, I'm Kaerson. Hi noob -_-"

  • In Fruity Loops you can change the pitch and keep the speed if you want with Edison

  • You mean.. with slicex

  • somebody please answer Domenicozzos question

  • Is possible to have the pitch changed but not the sample's speed? Thanks

  • i love this youtube you could learn anything you want seriously. Thanks for the pitch lessions brother. I just invested in reason 4.0 and i love the sounds. Specially from my Bx5a monitors speakers. I wanna know from my macbook how i could sample a cd in nnxt do i have to buy recycle. Thanks

  • cool man, now id like to know how to change the pitch of a sample while is running. i want it to start in the original pitch and while is playing end one a lower pitch. how so i do that?????????

  • I don't exactly know if I got your question right...

but I think what you wanna do can be done by the pitch bend. (the leftest of the three black wheels, on the top left). just push the key where the sample is, hold it and meanwhile move the pitch bend wheel (either up or down). you can even record this, by right clicking on the wheel, "edit automation", then press "record" and move the wheel... the movements you make will be saved.

  • im new to reason 4, nd this seems like way more work than using fruity loops or the mpc... but i'll put in da effort to learn because its onlii gunna benfit....smh

  • that's because reason is exactly like the real thing. there is waaay more control. if it's too complicated, you can just use the presets. they are actually quite nice. but if you really wanna have control and want to be able to say that it's your music, you really need to get in there and mess around. good luck

  • Heh, genius! :-)

    Thanks, Dan!

  • Hi Dan, I can't play any of my samples. I press the highlighted note on the virtual keyboard - no sound.

The volume is on. What could possibly be wrong?

  • Are you holding down 'Alt' on the keyboard?

  • you need to convert files in to wav formats.

  • @muntelevenu5

I'm having the same problem. Did you work out what was wrong? I am holding down alt, but no sound emerges.

  • @Balkanbun - holding the alt should do the trick. It did for me. Do other Reason instruments work for you? I wonder if your NNXT was wired properly.

  • i want to change the pitch. and not the speed. is that possible? i sample soul songs for hip hop beats, and would like to keep the tempo, but alter the pitch.

  • not sure how to do it in reason. in my high school days, i would do it on Soundforge or Creative Wave Studio or whatever (some sort of wav editor) to alter the original sample. looking forward to finding this out for myself.

for now, try going to a web forum like drumnbass [dot] be

  • Hi. Thanks for the video. I wonder if you can tell me why a MIDI pitch bend (both from a controller and automated track) sounds so naff and artificial compared to an real analogue synth or tape pitch control slider. It sounds like it moves through increments rather than smoothly. Is there any way to increase the smoothness in Reason? Also, it seems much better in the Subtractor than in NNXT. I've alway avoided pitch bends in MIDI, but I want to create smooth slides in unison with my slide guitar

  • MIDI does indeed use a finite range of values to control a pitch bend - so if the bend is offer a wide range you will indeed hear a stepping sound. Analogue synths and tape decks have an potentially infinite range of values that their pitch can be set to - hence the smoother sound.

I can't say I really use the pitch bend much over large ranges, but you might try experimenting with the portamento options (upper left of the editor) Play and hold one note and then play another at a different pitch.

  • useful! thx Dan

  • Use TimeFacory. Its designed to adjust to tempo and keep pitch.

  • if I want the sample to have the same tempo when it is pitched as it has on the routenote, how do I do that?

  • I'm afraid that is not possible using only the NNXT

  • Use Audacity, a free audio program. Or, use Recycle, another software by propellorheads. You have to pay for it though.

  • i didnt HAHAHA!!

  • dope dude
