The rebetika songs have much more passion and rythem than dhe Mississipi Delta Blues songs. The delta blues songs are good, but cant compare with the rebetika, not even close!

I really don't think I even mentioned where the word came from, but since you want to bring up words, the word "music" the reason why we are all on this page comes from Greece, as does the majority of the English language. Now in regards to the style of this music, it does have some Turkish influence, just like Turkey has many Greek and Middle Eastern influences in their culture. It's inevitable.
