  • @ 2:58.... WOW !!!

  • best sound in the whole world,,,,,,,,love them,,,miss them...as a kid l watched them...RIP Max Stewart

  • @impeter1

They are a fantastic sight with that particular weekend at Phillip Island plus Phillip Island itself being one of the best places to view the cars. I fortunatley had media access that weekend, managing to film these and the the additional classes of the period. So pleased I was there.

My memory of the F5000 was as a small boy at Warick Farm. It is still vivid more me to experience.

They can still be scene and driven hard by the new owners at various events around Aust and NZ

  • One of those cars is a contemporary F1 McLaren Cosworth.

  • @Camerameister

Yes it is, with many more coming on board. The Surtee's F1 of the earlier 70's is now driving in Australia. There is a huge weekend coming up at E.C. in November with numerous F1 and Indy cars demonstrated at the event.

  • I especially like the front strait segment of this film; it reminds me of Elkhart Lake's front strait where the cars thunder past and crest the hill in the distance. The last one sees of the car is that tall airbox slicing the wind. Wonderful memories from a bygone era, F5000 Forever!

  • Thankyou for your comments and glad to be of help.

I will be picking up the other tapes this week which has the racing from the Sunday.

I have about an hour from the event including the cars warming up in the garages on the sunday morning which is also great.

I happened to capture the race where one car was off in the dirt at the beginning of the main straight, comes back on track narrowly missing other cars.Thank god for that..

If you would like the footage in HD dvd let me know.

  • I love this clip. I was driving one of the cars. Your pitwall footage is the best I've seen in terms of capturing the ferocity and sheer speed of these cars. 180 to over 200mph just past the bridge as you go over the rise. Gotta love 'em. Gotta love that Phillip Island track too. It's a classic.

    Keep that footage coming...
