  • did you use open c tuning? and which fret did you put the capo on?

  • @accounttake52 Yes it's an open C.

    And 4th fret ;)

  • you rock dude

  • reaaly good

  • is that an ovation acoustic?

  • @Phckr3

Looks like it. Those things rock. I had one that was in a car crash, so I glued it back together and it still sounds beautiful.

  • dude what acoustic is that?

  • i had to listen to this again the next day. and after all i have to say this is probably the best cover of Ocean on youtube. great job man, love your hammering on intro.

  • awesome cover man. like that you play it your rendition, like john butler plays it live and he changes how he plays it. doesnt matter about the right tabs or when you strum witch part. but yeah sounds spot on nice cover.

  • Awesome! But, can you play this on a 12-string? :)

  • captured the song really nicely, you can tell from your phrasing that you're really feeling it

  • hey do you have the tabs? awesome version!

  • This is awesome man!

  • I love butlers creation and you did a fine job... Hats off to you. I have listened to many covers of this and most if not all had no feeling behind them as well as bad timing and tuning. So all things considered lesser recording quality, and lesser quality guitar and a 6 string to boot. Keep practicing :) your on the way.

  • good job man, have you got a tab for this version?

  • sooo when you say its your "rendition" , you mean you strummed through all of the hard parts because you couldnt handle doing it legit....

  • @jmatt26946

Exactly. One Love. And yes- haters need love too!!

  • is it a ovation legend 1617?

    good cover

  • don't listen to these people, it's a tough song and you played YOUR version of it well, and as far as sound is concerned, he's playing a 12 string (actually 11) and has professional recording. so keep up the good work! well done

  • ya sounds crappy on that guitar. also sounds out of tune

  • not bad, would be better if you could get yourself a real guitar. ovations are fun but the sound not so much

  • 2:03

    holy monkeys

  • definately Ovation. Anyone know the tuning? im interested in that lol

  • @MrNellyFartado Open c top to bottom c-g-c-g-c-e

  • what type of guitar is that?

  • @brad200080 Looks like an Ovation

  • you, should definitely write a tab for this on ultimate guitar..please?

  • Beautiful cover man! I recently made a cover, tell me what you think !

  • i am i huge butler fan and i have to say good fucking job man you captured the emotion behind the song and nailed it , you rock !

  • Very difficult to play, great effort and a very good job

  • а я думал, что это я отстойно на гитаре играю!!!!

  • one love

  • you have its sussed man! So good. Any pointers for how to do the strumming/strumming pattern?

  • the 28 people who don't like have no idea of true music !

  • Comment removed

  • dyou happen to have tabs for your version? its really good and id like to learn it, would appreciate it heaps :D

  • hahaha :D

got the same guitar and capo ;)

    good cover!

  • where do you get your tabs from?

  • can u post a link to were abouts i can learn this song please

  • ovation is where its at my man.

  • awesome cover!

  • tuning???

  • @DERGIE95 Open C

  • awesome man pls man fuck all who say bad abt it i love it pls man make a lesson on it or somthin

  • This is awesome dude! Even tho it wasnt exactly how john plays it, it was the best try i have seen. Takes ALOT of work to do that.

  • theres soul in this rendition i like right on bro

  • dude i love your cover how long did it take you to learn this way and you wouldnt happen to have tab for fast part would you

  • Pleassssssse some help me, No Good TABS online... How did you learn it...

If somone have them please send them to me, thx guys

  • Mcdickie24 - your right there with the whole of your comment. I've been playing this song for months now and you simply just need the passion and patience with this song.

  • hey man.... thats amazing. Sounds so great. I´m learning this song at the moment and have some problem. Can you send me tabs or upload a ocean lesson or a slow video?? That would be so great. All tabs in the inet are not that good. If anybody has the original tabs please send them to me. THX :-)))))

  • It takes about 6 months to properly learn this song, and more time to feel it properly, to the point where you listen to the song and it makes your heard thump because you know you are happy you found John Butler. This guy gets it, one love

  • @mckdickie24 it does not take 6 months... i learned it in about 2 weeks, the whole thing memorized perfectly. depends how much time u dedicate to learning it

  • @mckdickie24 6 months if your a fucking terrible learner...

  • @mckdickie24 Thoroughly disagree with that. The 6 months is more likely the time it takes to feel the music. Any good guitarist can learn songs quickly enough, the trouble is mastering the sound levels and emotion in the song.

  • @mckdickie24 i properly learnt this song in under a week....but the more time to feel it is true.

  • @mckdickie24 i properly learnt this song in under a week....but the more time to feel it is true. oh and this cover is really good!

  • This was briiiilliant. 5/5..

really should put up tabs. this song is amazing.

  • Dude that was heaps good.

    veryy nice (Y) 5/5 :)

  • Simply "WOW"!!

  • does he play the fast bit with one finger like that? i know he has long nails

  • really enjoyed this :) great song by JB. Love it. Your cover is nice!! ;)

  • can you send tabs please? :) really have learn this song, :D

  • Well played bud.

  • @MultiMidnightToker its tuned in CGCGCE

  • incredible. im jealous

  • fuck anyone who said this wasnt good

  • That was a powerful statement

  • check out andy mckee if you havent already

  • wow that actually sounds really good

    props

  • The strumming is throwing you off in terms of the tempo. You also need to learn the faster parts of the song by heart in order to keep the rhythm from fluctuating.

Good cover though, try going for the entire song after some more practice, you have the talent.

  • love it!

  • dude..that's pretty freakin close to how he plays it...nice ovation btw. was it plugged into an amp?

  • What kind of strings are you using?

  • No, he's missing john butlers passion

    Close though.

  • This is an open C tuning, so CGCGCE

You just need a 12 string ant it would be almost perfect !

  • hey nice cover, wot tuning is your guitar for this cover??

  • I have the same capo

  • Comment removed

  • nice job man. i have been learning this by ear mostly, some tabs have accurate parts but not the whole song. you took the best parts of all the different versions, nice bro.

  • hey man this is great, keep it up!

  • nice job. which model ovation is this? i have an ovation too

  • i like this alot, way to go. now just need a 12 strings with the second G missing

  • John Butler uses an 11 string...because there are 11 tuning knobs on it...

  • .... he purposly took the second G off, and took out the tuner because if there is no string on it, it will rattle when you play it...

  • .......ok... : )

  • nice man

  • What you're playing as an intro is the way, John Butler played it live at Federation Square actually.

    Great cover, though.

  • From two min onwards is nothing like John Butlers.... Which is why i like it so much =) Well Done. Excellent Arrangement

  • awesome job man, love itt. any chance of tabs or all by ear??

  • Nvm found some

  • Great job dude!

  • although youre no john butler, really nice job man for real your technique is really good

  • nice ovation man.

  • holy crap, that was really good.

  • that was a really good cover, i dont like watching covers of ppl playing the same thing as him , its so much better when you make your own , i really liked it from 2 mins onwards coz you really did make that part your own

    good job mate

  • great job mate

  • hey man awesome job. do you have tabs for this song?

  • amazing

  • great job you still made it sound good with a 6 is it?

  • its an 11 string jb takes the high G string out because it squeals with open C tuning and it sounds terrible nice cover btw dude

  • have you written this down on a tab website, i think youve done great.

also to those fuckers complaining about it not being on 12 string, he cant just pull one out of his ass.

the other thing is, if you watch him JB play on spicks and specks, it clearly says 11 string guitar

  • you need a 12 string guitar and that would be great! Realy good!

  • The key to this song is the 6/8 timing, get that down and you got it!

  • that was pretty good, not as epic as it would be on a 12 string though

  • its not exact, but you still did pretty amazing. Great job.

  • sweet

  • Cheers dude, really nice

  • ooooh that's the live federation square version! :p

  • awesome dude ... really thats great job .. i wanna see a viedo of you on a 12 string playin it tho

  • it's an 11 string dumbass

  • no its a 12 string you idiot ahahah what the fuck are you talkin about

  • hes right. 11 strings :)

  • i thought it was 12 string too but tha one he used when he played it on spicks an specks has 11.. im mysitfyd.....

    nice version btw..

  • It is 11 string, John Butler doesn't like a specific extra string on 12 string (I don't know which one) so he just takes it off.

  • Its the G treble string

  • He takes it off because it always broke on him while he was playing. So he just doesn't bother putting it on anymore.

  • Execellent! I really like this way to play Ocean, especially at 2:00 ^^ Too bad your version is shorter than his, but honestly, great job!

  • Is this the live at federation square version?

  • cheers son...

  • Beautiful and positive song. This version is nice too, seems liked played to give less pressure and more of a relaxed-joyfull mood. The pressure variations are more jentle. I like it! sweet

  • very impressed

  • How long did this take you to learn mate?

  • just kidding tht was fucken sweet man

  • timing is to quik slow it down a fraction

  • ovation?

  • this version is brilliant, it sounds alot like the part of the version he played when I saw him live. And even then, jbt plays this song different everytime he plays it. So nice job

  • OMG

    thats amazing

    what tuning this played in??

  • open c with capo on 4th fret

  • for how long have you been playing cuz that version is amazing

  • i have that exact same capo sitting in front of me right now

  • If you don't know,

     素晴らしい!!!means "Wonderfull !!!"

  • Even if it's no where close

    that was still DOPE

  • you do a uniqe version of the song

    5 stars for you

  • 素晴らしい!!!

  • you play beautifully

  • hey i was wondering what tuning you are in. ive seen many tabs with the open c tuning but the capo is on the second fet which is not how jb plays it. sounds great

  • ey, i thougt its open G. anyway the tuning is CGCGCE. Capo on 4te

  • pretty good man

  • awsome

  • Hey man, that sounds great! Is there any way I could get you to tab that out for me? Im having a little trouble getting the other ones I have.

  • can you please make a lesson ?

  • that was awesome man, so chill!

  • that was really well done i gotta say. its not gonna have a full sound like a 12 string (to state the obvious) but you did a really good tune justice fer shur. n btw that guitar sounds great, ovation right?

  • obviously not an ovation... otherwise it would be a dead give away... meaning it has a hole in the center... ovation does not...

  • what r u talking about, most ovations have a sound hole, not all but most. if its not an ovation then what is it?

  • i have a 1712 model that has a soundhole, internal pickup. ovation makes hollow body soundhole guitars. ur wrong.

  • Yeah ovation does make guitars w/ soundholes in the middle. What kind are you using here?

  • I have an Ovation Ultra Series and it has a sound hole in the center.

  • i stand corrected....

  • sounds cool!.. i cant figure out the tuning.. can u help pls?

  • The Tuning is "Open C". Google it and you will find it.

Btw, I can write here. :P

    e

    C

    G

    C

    G

C (Tune this a very little bit lower, it's got a tendency to become higher.)

  • Wow I love the whole song but my favoite is the into..you do such a great job!! Awesome

  • is that an ovation electro acoustic i see?

  • great

  • real good man.played with soul

  • that was great someday i hope to be able to play like that

  • Ovation guitar?

Looks like one, can't really tell

  • sounds great! i think it is a perfect combination of all the ways jb plays it. if i could download the tabs from you that would be great.

  • I liked it man! What was your tunning?

  • get a martin! (not to bad tho..)

  • man v good cover but it had no emotion in it IMO

  • monstruous!!!! very nicelly done congratulations

  • What guitar are you playing on? Looks like an Ovation... model?

  • thats realy good, your sound is realy clean. If you could sent me a link to the tab it would be great. cheers.

  • .com

  • SWEET SWEET STUFF....nice jobb man!!!....do u have a tab on that maybe =P....I would kill for it...if u do...plz plz send it to chico_ericson@hotmail

  • while you stayed true to the original you managed to throw your own personal "touch" onto the song. much better than most of the covers i've heard. nice, man. keep it up.

  • sicko!

  • pretty good man, but you gotta try picking where necesary than constant one finger downstrokes, was good tho :)

  • Probably the best cover...WOW

  • beutiful ! favorited!

  • WOW!

where did you get that tab btw?

    thats really awesome playing
