Beautiful horse. Never lose hope. He likes the water, so have you looked into hydrotherapy and massage therapy or body work. These work the muscles without stressing the joints. Good luck to you and Perry! Hope he recovers.
never ever give up hope. my horse was supposed to be put down after cutting half of his hoof off, but after a year and a half of rehibilitation, he's completely healed, and ready to do anything anyone asks of him.
what does your horse suffer from? his wounds look similar to those that my youngest horse have. (only balin was never lame and i expect him to be ridable within a month)
HPG, his natural suspension is AMAZING. Literally gave me goosebumps. He is truly gorgeous. And seems like a real character, too. I wish you both luck.
keventergirl said: "I hate how the uncertain can happen with horses...one day winning big shows, next having to be put down cause of colic etc..." Hmmm wonder why such a well trained horse would get colic? Could it be malnourishment, metabolic disorder, problem with parotid gland and stress that caused digestion system to crash?
He's a very noble creature, and you are blessed to have such lovely animals in your life... Dressage is a demanding discipline, but that doesn't mean that his career is over. Someone once told me that "There's something about the outside of a horse, that's good for the inside of a man..." I don't know anything else that comes close.
Wow,I watched this clip so many times over..it reminds me of a few of my horses that had injuries and had to be put down or sold. Perrier is such a gorgeous horse and if he never had his injury then he definitely should have become a top caliber dressage horse.I hate how the uncertain can always happen with horses..one day winning big shows, next having to be put down cause of colic etc.I hope the best could happen for this horse, and you could go kick some major ass with this beautiful guy...
my friend's horse was lame for a long time, and they figured out that their ferrier, who was highly reccomended, had cut the horse's hooves too short and put on the wrong type of shoes!
Hi, truely lovely looking horse. I recently saved a horse from going to the "doggers", not enough food, so i put an add up and now her new owner and her are going very well together, everyone wins!
Absolutely beautiful, never give up hope. I love your way with horses. I've watched several of your videos, 'Breathe' was my first, which was inspiring. This one just tugs at my heart strings. I'm a sucker for a horse with a story. I can see Perrier's love for life in his eyes and the way he moves. I'd love to talk horses with you. I'm sure I could learn a lot. Jean
I don't know where you're located, but the vet clinic at William and Mary, I believe, has an extensive research program in horse lameness. My grandfather donated a lovely dutch warmblood mare that had lameness problems a few years back.

stunning horse though<3 we have horses at our barn that have lamness and we cant figure it out but the vet says we have to wait until his leg fuses so we have to ride him

your horse is beautiful and its so nice to see somebody who will never give up on a horse no matter what. most people dont do that keep up the good work :)
Beautiful gelding, I truly hope his lameness issue is solved soon. If it does, he will make an amazing dressage horse. He has amazing suspension and lift!
I love the song im singing it for choir.. and your horse is amazing, i have an arab/tho-bred and we do eventing =D theres a couple horses at my barn that are lame =(
i had a chesnut that was 5 years old we got home one day and found her next to a fence, my mum and i went out to check and she had her leg caught in the fence...we called the vet but it was to late the wire had wrapped around her leg and cut of circulation to her foot. she had sturggled so much the wire had rubbed all the flesh of her and you could see her bone. she seemed so tired when the vet got to her. she didnt flinch at all...it was like she had already died.....

Thanks. No, not riding yet. I still need a saddle and of course when he is OK I get sick. Not too worried though. He is just getting stronger playing in the pasture.
He sits in a pasture being fat and happy. I still have him. Though he has been quite sound last year and a half. Runs and plays quite rough in the pasture and hasn't taken a lame step. When I get the time and can find a fitting saddle I want to start him again. See if he stays sound.
Thank you. No, no Arab. He is registered Dutch, so different breeds of warmblood, some thoroughbred (he really got refined by the thoroughbred if you ask me, where he got the Arab looking head).
yeah he is really refined but he is sooooo gawjus i used to ride a really refined little horse but know i ride a horse who reminds me of a bull dozer he is ginormis!!!!!!
- Copy the music you want and then put it on WMM. And then drop it on the timeline for the music which in under the timeline for the videos/pictures :) I hope that helps :) xx Gd luck x
Thank you. He was unsound for about 4 years and no one could figure out what to do and could really only guess why he was lame. We're pretty sure we know why, but no one has really had it happen before. Somehow he seems to be sound now though, and plays hard without a problem, so he has started work to go under saddle once again.
I still have to find a saddle I can borrow that will fit him. (I do not want to buy one in the event he ends up not staying sound - Murphy's law you know) He was going under saddle before all this, so it won't take much time to get him used to it again (though I will take time, it has been a while!). So just getting him some work until I can find a suitable saddle.
He is absolutely beautiful... an asset to his breed. I'm really sorry for what you're going through/have been through, I just hope he gets better and you two can start having some fun! XxX
beautiful horse, its sad that he hurt his leg, o well his still not to old to give up. i never give up on horses and i take it you dont either. beautiful movements, lovely conformation. What breed is he you have some facility there, is it yours or your families by any chance?
Thank you. I am actually hoping to start working him again this year, see what happens. The facility was a place I boarded at. I don't have the money to own a place of my own, all of it just ends up going into the horses themselves!
Heehe. Well, I don't have the money. I just work for or board where people do have the money. It works for them and it works for me, so everyone is pretty happy! ^_^
Wow! He's an absolutely beautiful mover. I know how it feels to have a horse that's lame and the vet's can't figure out why (One of my horses has an issue with his pelvis and none of the vets I've taken him to can figure out exactly what's wrong and where). It's very frustrating situation. I hope Perry gets better soon. He seems like a really fun horse.
Thank you. He has stayed sounds in the pasture for quite some time now. Running and playing and I haven't seen one wrong step. I have been sick lately, but when I get better I plan to start working him again. See how things work out, hope for the best, may his body just had to figure things out.
omg he's so pretty! good luck with him! oh and you have great pics of him! well i guess i have good pics of my horses to with the fact that our camera is horrible, lol!
It has been 3 years since surgery and he seems sound, don't know if he will stay that way when he gets back to work - hasn't worked the last couple tries. It has been a while since we've tried though, so maybe time heals.
Sssooo beautiful! Hope he recovers!

He's so beautiful, but is he sick or anything? :(
I wish him the best of luck..
denisesward 4 years ago
Thank you. He was unsound for about 4 years and no one could figure out what to do and could really only guess why he was lame. We're pretty sure we know why, but no one has really had it happen before. Somehow he seems to be sound now though, and plays hard without a problem, so he has started work to go under saddle once again.

Oh my god... this horse has a beautiful trot. I wish the best to both of you.

Thank you very much.

have you begun to ride him? or are you still working on getting him used to the saddle on the ground?
LovemeThatsit 4 years ago
I still have to find a saddle I can borrow that will fit him. (I do not want to buy one in the event he ends up not staying sound - Murphy's law you know) He was going under saddle before all this, so it won't take much time to get him used to it again (though I will take time, it has been a while!). So just getting him some work until I can find a suitable saddle.

that was beautiful. Perrier is gorgeous, and I wish you both the best of luck.

beautiful horse, its sad that he hurt his leg, o well his still not to old to give up. i never give up on horses and i take it you dont either. beautiful movements, lovely conformation. What breed is he you have some facility there, is it yours or your families by any chance?
damingokid 4 years ago
Thank you. I am actually hoping to start working him again this year, see what happens. The facility was a place I boarded at. I don't have the money to own a place of my own, all of it just ends up going into the horses themselves!
halfpassgal 4 years ago
cool. i showed my mum the breathe vid and she said if u owned that place you must have some money. it looks like a real good place
damingokid 4 years ago

He's a lovely horse, nice movement.
How is he doing now?
NobleAffaire 5 years ago
Thank you. He has stayed sounds in the pasture for quite some time now. Running and playing and I haven't seen one wrong step. I have been sick lately, but when I get better I plan to start working him again. See how things work out, hope for the best, may his body just had to figure things out.

It has been 3 years since surgery and he seems sound, don't know if he will stay that way when he gets back to work - hasn't worked the last couple tries. It has been a while since we've tried though, so maybe time heals.
