You need to have a core province within range of your colonies. You also need to possess the national idea of the New World. It also helps if you increase your Naval Tech, so you can get more in range of your colonies.

Actually, you don't even need conquistadors if you're at war with the nation. Simply move into the unexplored territory and you'll be able to chase the enemy.

You need the "Quest for the New World" idea to recruit Conquistadors or their Naval equivalent Explorers, use them as Generals/Admirals but they can move into undiscovered territories.

@barod1 Not really. It worked just fine for me. There's some learning that needs to be done by experience, like in any game, but for the most part it works fine.

Your best bet for survival is to declare war on Russia now, since they have high infamy (dishonorable scum) once you declare war on them other nations will also dogpile Russia. With their current claim to your throne you could lose the game just with your monarch dying, and them inheriting your country. The purpose of your war would be to splinter Moscovy up, not to take territories (The russian territories are unproductive and lags research and stability).

@7hrjpidocil Some of the areas the Muscovites control (The area around Muscovy itself, the city of Novgorod, Crimea, the Ukraine, parts of Anatolia) are useful/productive.

You also have to watch what they produce, I think Stalin already has Novgorod and the area around Muscovy produces Grain which is a horrible export.

@7hrjpidocil But it's a good region, for the most part. Fairly mild temperature-wise and already has a large population. Ukraine is, of course, very fertile, and the Crimea has hugely valuable ports. Plus, Muscowy can literally pull 30,000 man armies out of their ass, considering the simple amount of land they own. As is, Muscowy doesn't appear to have pushed far east enough yet to have actually gotten in to what I would think is poor living land. Their northernmost stuff is worthless, as always

@LucanJacups Yes, considering Stalin has next to no regard as to which province he takes lol. This will not affect his game a whole lot, but the slow technological progress really irks me. Taking those regions will weaken Russia, it will increase his income, increase manpower, increase infamy, increase stability and technological costs, and reduce relations with Russia.

@7hrjpidocil Yeah, Stalin is not a great planner, but he seems to pull through most of the time regardless. I find that most of my plans usually fall to pieces anyways (I.E Going to war with Kazan, Sibir, The Golden Horde, and Nogai as Mucowy in the late 1400s. I plan to have 30,000 men covering Sibir, 25,000 covering Kazan, and a force of 40,000 men covering Nogai and the Golden Horde (10,000 for the Horde, 30,00 for Nogai.) I barely get above 50% of the men I need before winter. Delay results)

@flamezero888 You need New World national Idea for that...It's easier to sieze colonies...Select the amry ocupying the coloni and select it in the army menu(where you have detach siege,scorch the land etc.

@crichard8 A war for Britain wouldn't be a bad idea, but we don't know how many allies (if any) they have. He should at least secure relations with Russia first, as they have a claim to his throne once his faction leader dies. The fact that an alliance with them is impossible should be a warning sign.
