  • I remember seeing this Filmclip for the first time on "Sounds" in late 1984. Errr...showing my age here! :P

  • Its just a soul kinda feelinnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

  • They came to Port Pirie once ....... ouch!

  • @lilynick1 I went there once too...ouch! LOL.

  • Love it when Frank bennett sticks his ear into the sax.....like he doesn't understand it ??? Go Dave !!

  • Saw these guys and a whole lot of other great Aussie bands at the Caringbah Inn in the mid-80s, when I lived at the Nulla. The Casbah had the highest beer sales of any pub in NSW for a while and I like to think I played my part in that.

Certainly arouses a bit of nostalgia.

  • So much in a film clip. Good old fashion fun.

  • It was a pitty to see brass instruments leave the pop scene after the 80s you just cant beat the sound of brass. From the 90s and up muso's relyed too much on electric, god they dont even have bands anymore just "POPSTARS" 8-(

  • They were always a dorky looking bunch, weren't they?

  • good song, don't know about the video though

  • @TheWheelofLife100 2:25 to 2:35 is particularly bad. But yes, good song.

  • @Mayortwilleger ...Well he ain't no Michael Jackson, that's for sure.

  • i remember them playing at the hotel rozell as julie and the jive bombers

  • Australia's answer to Dexies Midnight Runners :)

My girlfriend used to go out with the guitarist.. Andrew I think his name was! These guys were great FUN!

  • was in sydney for 6months in 85/85 and was knocked out when i heard this...real retro feel to it...great sound

  • Champion song, Real Happy Days.

  • This was me & my girlfriends fav song - everytime i hear this song it reminds me of the good times we had together. What do you think Alison?

  • Start made me laugh .... Reminded me when one of friend's kids saw him looking at a record and said "Geez Dad, that's the biggest CD i've ever seen!"

    I'm still laughing :-)

  • I remember when this was on everyday radio play - 2Day, 2MMM etc - I farking loved this song. NZOZ1984 you are a Legend.

  • Holy Shit....what? Wait.! Waaaaat?

  • and that is Dave Wray (aka Frank Bennett) with the sunglasses and pink comb tucked behind the ear.

  • wow.. i did not know that!

  • Yep - a timeless tune! Thanks for putting it up! Raucous horns!

  • great tune ! Al Britton is just an awesome, solid bassist. Robert Susz a great frontman. saw the sax player late last year playing at Bondi/Waverly in Sydney with Virginia Lowe singing upfront. he's still got that feel !

  • Yeah... where are the horn sections in popular music today?

Hiding in the same place as most of the soul and talent in my humble(ish) opinion.

    Tasty bass work too.

  • I was walking through our local Westfield shoppingtown recently when over the PA came this song. It electrified me as usual - the whole place should have stopped and broken out dancing. Its a kick arse Aussie No. 1.

  • @chucksfan1 Let's get a group together and make a video where we all dance to this in a Westfield!! The song deserves it!

  • This song, and The Bureaus' "Only for sheep" are two of my favourite songs.

    They are similar.

They both go well with me.

Thank you so much for posting.

  • What does he say at 0:50?????? I have never been able to work out the lyrics

  • think from memory hes singing " not talking about a fight...wrong or right "

  • Yeah, that works. Thanks.

  • GREAT SONG.

Lead singer looks like The Count! A-A-A-A-A-AAAAAAAAA!!!!

    1. 1 GREAT SONG! A-A-A-A-A-AAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • "We want to count.

    We want to count.

    We want to count...."

    - The Count's bats.

"OK. You can count all the Counts. I will count all the bats." - the Count.

  • Number one on RTR in NZ for weeks...it felt like years to a young punk rocker (lol).

The organ sounds great to me now...kind of like something off an early Dylan album such as Blonde On Blonde. Didn't pick it up or appreciate it back then...couldn't cause I hadn't heard any Dylan when it came out.

  • man this is awesome, my band backed up these guys back in 85 at Taree Bowling club.

  • This is such a great song, havent heard it for ages. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanx for the memories, now I'm headin' over to 'Flame Trees'.

  • Dan sang this song to Leah at their wedding reception on "Home and Away". It was so cute!

  • This is one of the Aussie classics. Played at the wake of the Pilot on the series "The Flying Doctors" - they said it was his music. Can anyone remember his name?

    Was it dave?

  • The memories, 1984 i was always at "Ripper Records". King street, Newtown. In Sydney. The shops long gone and the great times are only memories.

  • GREAT SONG !!!!!!!80'S RULE!!!

I thought the lead singer looks a bit like dave hughes actually....

  • HAHAHHAHA he really does!

  • Awesome upload, thank you. Brings back the good times when things were easier.

Can't help thinking though how much the lead singer looks like the dad from American Pie sometimes, especially when he starts dancing!

  • NOT TALKIN RELIGIONAL

  • Some awesome hairdoos man! Really dug the

get-up of those ladies toward the end !

  • Oh the memories. Thanks. The 80's were the best!

  • holly crap this is stunning. I bought the 12" of this and left it in the sun, only to see it turn into a nice fruit bow, after one play!!!

Cheers for the share = dang was that 1984

  • I LOVE this song!!! Forgot all about it and can't stop playing it now that I have rediscovered it! Thanks!!!! :)

  • The 80's were a really creative period in Oz, what has happened since?

  • *shrugs*

I think it's a global thing and not just the pokies. I know people will argue about today's music being just as good as music from the past and that it's just different. Yes, I believe it takes one to find good music for him/herself. However, this song could suit any period before 1986... it could have been a motown hit; a disco hit; a country hit, what have you. The songs were just good.. back then.

  • @nzoz1984 modern music just as good as the 80s?? WTF?!

It isnt spit on the 80's! Well when you think about it, the stuff they release now is usually rehashed old tunes from all the eras

  • @truespyfan I don't think I implied that today's music is as good as 80's music... it just simply isn't. However, the poor state of popular culture is a global phenonamen.

  • @nzoz1984 I agree with you, but what I noticed about getting 'older' is that in the 80's the older people would complain about Culture Club and other bands. We just sometimes do the same now to the previous years' artists. It might be just generational. There is no doubt the state of culture at present isn't that good but

  • @nzoz1984 this was poetry...could not have put it better myself!

  • Well music in general has declined due to video culture taking precedent over actual musicians...and then there is australian radio which isnt really prepared to support australian artists.

  • @webaroos It's called cookie cutter music now, Mcdonads pioneered it now al business's run this way. Just have a few lines and pump em out with no variation Alowed.

  • @aussietv2 - Maybe that's why Ipod & mp3 players are so popular, just load em up with the old music and bypass the new crap on radio, I don't really understand the newer music, it's a total mish mash, but again that's what my parents said about the 60's music.

  • @webaroos fugall really, we got taken over by american crap rap

  • Groovy black 'n' white shirt.... but not with them red pants...omg never mind... great summer song from the day though. Continential Robert? Was that what he called himself?
