That maybe so, and don`t get me wrong here,I believe Christianity is a great religion.However,Christianity and the Ifa-Orisa religion(in its purest form) have different values.When one practices two religions and lives by values of both which are different from each other, he really isn't committed to either religion.

Much respect Obatalafunfun, que de espiritismo that has a chrisitian bases? Umbanda in brazil? the spiritual baptist/shango baptist traditions are they invalid? What are the differences between Ifa Orisha in its pure form and Abrahamic beliefs? The bases of it is a faith in God and in his spiritual manifestations (Closer to older aspects of Judeo-chrisitianity) refered to in the bible as Elohim, and in an Afro Yoruba sense Orisha. Gods great design, is evident in Ifa destiny, its the great work.

For all I know abrahamic beliefs maybe very close to the Ifa-Orisa religion.I'm actually quite sure of this because all religions stemmed form the ancient African belief systems(such as Orisa).However, Christianity TODAY is quite unlike Ifa-Orisa.Por ejemplo,Modern-Day christians view sexuality as a bad thing.Ifa-Orisa praises sexuality, and recognizes its role in creation.Though the basis of these religions may be the same.What Modern day practitioners belief is quite different.

Well my friend (as I consider any child of Obatala, and any child of God to be my friend ;)) thats where you get to the brass tax, modern christian is a very broad term, protestant, baptist, pentacostalist, angelican, catholic, spiritualist, gnostic all have very different forms of worship and 'morals'. And I don't remember the Ifa tradition applauding raunchiness :p procreation is a beautiful thing, look at the magic of Christ, life, death and ressurection.

In ifa there is no concept of raunchiness.The Ifa-orisa religion is different form many others because it gives people freedom to be happy.Ifa doesn't have rules, only consequences.All your actions will come back to you.For example, if you steal,that action will come back to you and you will be stolen from. If a woman chooses to wear a miniskirt, and high heels she is welcome to do so.If someone has relations with many people they are not shameful in gods eyes.

Un Olou cant get they're body marked,as a child of Obatala (Maferefun Obatala) you probably know this the body is a temple for the holy spirit, isnt this also a taboo in the bible. "thou shalt not worship idols" yea you cant say a rock is God, but a representation of God.....just look at the tradition of the sacred Ark. You forget Traditional Judeo christianity sacraficed animals also :) I believe in Christ as my saviour (in a universal gnostic sence) yet I believe in the Orisha am I invalid?

No you are not invalid,however in order to fit into both religions you must reject certain concepts that are believed in these religions.For example, to be in the orisa religion, you must reject the common Christian Belief that Jesus Christ is the only way to God.The Umbanda, and Spiritual baptists only merged Christianity into their religion, to mask it during the slavery days.What modern christians practice today has very little to do with the early christian practices.

You don't have to reject anything, Ifa is Universal as the message of Christ, christ being universal (as seen in Osiris, Mithra, Legba, Oxala, Dionysus so on and so forth) but to be a christian doesnt mean you have to comform to 'modern chrisitianity', and just to clarify a few points Umbanda is very christian, to them Oxala is Christ not a mask of Oxala, no Oxala and Christ to Umbandist are the same, spiritual baptist are well.... baptist, with Afro Orisha elements.

Of course Ifa is universal,the Orisa are known by different cultures throughout the world.I know that Christ and Obatala are the same because there is only one universe not a christian universe, an orisa universe, and a hindu universe.However, you do have to reject something to be a member of more than one religious faith even though they all lead to god.For Example, Ifa-orisa states that the first human being was a woman named "Ninibeni".You have to reject this to be a christian.
