Boracay is great! I fear it will be a disaster in the next decades. Its too commercialize, too much populated and too much exposed. Overly used! Coral reef is scourge of dead corals. We were in Boracay last July 2010 & we found it okay. The beach was full of debris due to some bad weather but overall we found it worth visiting. The only bad thing with the place is the constant harassment you get from the people selling the adventure packages. Other than that, the people were nice & the place isn't boring.
The Mexican and Carribean resorts would be nothing if USA and Canada weren't so close by? If they were just across our border investors wouldn't be as hesitant about building the same scale of tourism infrastracture that they have there simply because we will have a much much bigger market to cater to. It's not as attractive for them to travel halfway around the world just to enjoy the tropics since they'd rather spend the extra airfare cost for better amenities just across their borders.

I love Boracay...I can't explain how beautiful it is...I had really fun when I was there with my college friends...I got drunk...I've met different people around the Globe!very memorable!
Boracay is the best...I was there inApril this year 2010 and May last year and in October of 2009 I was also in Phuket.. Yeh Kata beach was great but im afraid The wonderful Philippines wins hands down everytime..This place is magical....I may be bias cos I am married to a filipina but I love the place and wanna be there right now!!
i'v been to Boracay many times back when i was a a kid, i live in canada now and as soon as i get my degree i'm leaving for that little 7km long island baby! The coral white sand, The palm trees, the pink sunsets, and the beautiful clear water and its variety of colourful fish will have me feeling in Paradise, truly, again.

Looks pretty nice but Bora Bora in Tahiti blows this away! Boracay looks nice but Bora Bora is absolutely Breathtaking in every aspect of the word. Another one that's nicer than Boracay is Playa del Carmen south from Cancun, there you have it all! Crystal clear waters and white sand beaches plus you have the rain forest and Ancient Mayan ruins all around you and if you want some fun and entertainment by night you have the bars and clubs in the city or you can drive a few miles to Cancun!!!

Boracay has been voted numerous times as the best tropical beach in the world by British publication, BMW handbook and Yahoo Travel. It is comparable to the beaches in the Carribean. Phuket is not really a competition.

Boracay is like Koh Samet in Thailand. Almost the same land area but I think Boracay has finer white sand and the coastline is longer almost 3 miles I think. The downside is, like most beaches in the Philippines it doesn't have the width. I think this Boracay is the only beach in the phil with this length (3 miles) and has beautiful white sand.

Philippines beaches doesn't have the length and the width like the beaches of Thailand. Find me a province in Phil that can match Phuket. To just to give you an idea, Phuket's got 23 beaches and all with world class resorts. The area of Phuket btw is about the size of Manila.
Thailand is beautiful, but the reason why Phucket has more in length and width is maybe because Thailand alone is just One Island and the Philippines is an Archipelago:1 : an expanse of water with many scattered islands.

You might wat to check "Archipelago" again, b/c Thai doesn't qualify. @Billabongs122988 I think you need to check out the Caribbean islands like Anguilla or Barbados or Barbuda or the Virgin Islands or the Grand Caymans or Bahamas, Bermuda or Aruba, etc or just go to Cancun mexico or by Playa del Carmen by the mexican riviera near Cancun and I'll bet it will blow any of your Thai beaches away. In Cancun alone, the resorts there are all top quality resorts. I've stayed at the Fiesta American Condesa in Cancun, been to the Grand Melia and Royal Resorts cancun too

Boracay is the best...I was there inApril this year 2010 and May last year and in October of 2009 I was also in Phuket.. Yeh Kata beach was great but im afraid The wonderful Philippines wins hands down everytime..This place is magical....I may be bias cos I am married to a filipina but I love the place and wanna be there right now!!

i'v been to Boracay many times back when i was a a kid, i live in canada now and as soon as i get my degree i'm leaving for that little 7km long island baby! The coral white sand, The palm trees, the pink sunsets, and the beautiful clear water and its variety of colourful fish will have me feeling in Paradise, truly, again.

Looks pretty nice but Bora Bora in Tahiti blows this away! Boracay looks nice but Bora Bora is absolutely Breathtaking in every aspect of the word. Another one that's nicer than Boracay is Playa del Carmen south from Cancun, there you have it all! Crystal clear waters and white sand beaches plus you have the rain forest and Ancient Mayan ruins all around you and if you want some fun and entertainment by night you have the bars and clubs in the city or you can drive a few miles to Cancun!!!

Billabong's a sore Philo hater. Just got back from Bangkok. Everything's overrated from "famed" Siam Paragon to the "land of smiles" mantra. Of the 3 countries I've visited so far, HK is still the best.
Boracay has been voted numerous times as the best tropical beach in the world by British publication, BMW handbook and Yahoo Travel. It is comparable to the beaches in the Carribean. Phuket is not really a competition.

Boracay is like Koh Samet in Thailand. Almost the same land area but I think Boracay has finer white sand and the coastline is longer almost 3 miles I think. The downside is, like most beaches in the Philippines it doesn't have the width. I think this Boracay is the only beach in the phil with this length (3 miles) and has beautiful white sand.
Sure nothing beats Thailand in terms of beaches.

Philippines beaches doesn't have the length and the width like the beaches of Thailand. Find me a province in Phil that can match Phuket. To just to give you an idea, Phuket's got 23 beaches and all with world class resorts. The area of Phuket btw is about the size of Manila.

Thailand is beautiful, but the reason why Phucket has more in length and width is maybe because Thailand alone is just One Island and the Philippines is an Archipelago:1 : an expanse of water with many scattered islands.

U might want to get your geo straight.Phuket is separated by a poss 5mi brdg of natl hwy402.I've travelled that bridge on sevrl occasions. You might wat to check "Archipelago" again, b/c Thai doesn't qualify. Phi has Natural Beauty when it comes to Beaches, unlike Thai &most countries that need to build Resorts to beautify the Island.Going to both is a totly diff experience.Someone like you may be more interested in man made resorts, where others like the natural beauty of this beautiful planet!

@Billabongs122988 I think you need to check out the Caribbean islands like Anguilla or Barbados or Barbuda or the Virgin Islands or the Grand Caymans or Bahamas, Bermuda or Aruba, etc or just go to Cancun mexico or by Playa del Carmen by the mexican riviera near Cancun and I'll bet it will blow any of your Thai beaches away. In Cancun alone, the resorts there are all top quality resorts. I've stayed at the Fiesta American Condesa in Cancun, been to the Grand Melia and Royal Resorts cancun too

it's actually a package that goes with your hotel. i'm not sure about all hotel fees but the one we're gonna be going to is only charging us at P6000 per head. that covers airfare, bus ride, boatride, and hotel stay.

Do you know that Boracay will be like Manila bay in 20 more years.Kasi nga ay walang sewage treatment plant sa Boracay na katulad sa Metro Manila.Dumarami ang kabahayan dyan at establisimento.Ang tanging gamit lang nila ay septic tank.Supposedly ang drainage pipe ay sumasalo lang sa tubig ulan.Ang dumi ng tao,tubig sa lababo at tubig sa banyo ay dapat sa sewer pipe dahil kung ito ay tutungo sa drainage pipe ito ay magiging untreated at tuloy tuloy ito sa dagat.
