  • like if you paused at 2:00 and tried to identify all the chrasters

  • Just finished reading this book, and as a lifelong fan of Stephen King, I think this is his best so far. He understands the human condition better than any other auther today. (In my opinion). p.s. Dale Barbara Rocks!!!!.

  • This man once called himself the "burger and fries" of the literature world. I have to disagree. He's the world class steak cooked by Marco Pierre White and served in a 5 star hotel of the literary world.

  • I'm sixteen and King is my favorite writer. Be happy, this generation hasn't completely discarded good literature.

  • @Trascist I agree, I'm 13, and I have been reading Stephen King novels for almost two years. My favourite so far is It. :)

  • Stephen just made Barbies bad ass. :P

  • @Bromden75 I agree. I'm currently reading 11.22.63, and I'm being completely blown away. I love The Stand, but Under the Dome and 11.22.63 (so far) are better to me. Maybe because their newer, or they appeal to me more, but I love them. Not that I don't love The Stand, I do, but not as much as Under the Dome.

  • I like that the woodchuck is a character. XD

  • I read this novel after playing the video game "Fallout: New Vegas." I loved this book, I think it's my favorite King work. At the moment, I'm reading Carrie and have bought Tom Gordon and Salem's Lot. Under the Dome, great book. Definitely worth the money. Also, get the hardcover edition, the paperback's (being that it's almost an 1100 page novel) cover will get a little messed up quickly.

  • I enjoyed the story, also they say don't judge a book by it's cover but I really dug that cover.

  • @Bromden75 Yeah. Both the covers for the hardcover and the paperback were beautiful. I'd judge the book off of that any day.

  • @TheNovelAmateur It says so much with that cover.

  • Love this book! A lot of people said King didn't have it anymore... This is the part where the crickets start to chirp instead of all the haters...

  • @swez78 To be honest I think he's getting better with age, I read Cell and loved it.

  • I agree that we are living under the dome right now, that was my first thought when I heard the story of the book.

  • Try and guess which characters which??? 1:59

  • I wish he'd just admit he got the idea from the Simpon's movie:)

  • @redflags420 He had the idea well before the Simpsons movie you fucking retard

  • @SteveFutureMusic rawr Steve angry, Steve smash! As a wise kid once said, "the Simpsons did it."

  • He is SO nice! :D

"You have to love the people you're writing about." That's a really good point.

  • Big Jim- one of Stephen King's best bad guys

  • @tkatbrown I liked what happened to his character though.

  • i like the fact how there is only one person who disliked this

  • Simon an' Schusta'

    Big dick produca'

Ain't no nigga gon' fucks wit' em

    Not even dat bitch Abrams

    Now crack a window

    While I smoke and choke

You can have a poke at dat Bimbo.

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH

    #trigga nigga.

  • How about it baaaaarrbie?

  • I loved under the dome was a fantastic bloody read i could not put it down nut i do find that with my stephen king collection though.

  • FUCK YOU, DINA RIGBY!!!!!!!

    amazon.com/Dish-Served-Tales-Revenge-ebook/dp/B004W82MCK/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1312233835&sr=1-1

  • Sloppy Sam in this bitch

  • Believe it or not I finished this book in three days. It was just that hard to put down. Big Jim got just what he deserved.

  • even though its over 1,000 pages I read it all in under a month, it is such an amazing read that pulls you in and doesn't let go till the end, amazing well written story

  • Chef and Andy are my favorite part of this book. They make me laugh, if they make a movie, i hope they cast elias kotias as chef and william h macy as andy

  • ...zoginated

  • I was at my cousin's house not too long ago, and he had put a Jerusalem cricket (potato bug) into a jar with a small yellow scorpion. THAT, in a nutshell, is "Under the Dome." The Simpsons movie has nothing in common with it. "Dome" is very grim, but it's not just a cynical comment on the ugliness of human nature. Proof positive that Stephen King can still tell one hell of a story.

P.S.: The cricket killed and ate the scorpion.

  • Big Jim disliked this.

  • i think the movie should have unknown actors

    WARNING: THEY MUST HAVE TALENT!!

  • he is phyco!!! i love him!

  • I love this book so much. It's like King says, you must love the characters to love the book. I think Rusty was totally awesome :')

    Who are you're fav's? :)

  • King is amazing, not just his writing but he is an amazing person to meet. He will sit and chat with you. He is gracious and kind. And when he talks of writing he glows! he has such a passion it is contagious!

  • オヤジかっこいい キング・オブ・ホラー!

  • brutto

  • We all know it'll be made into a movie casting should go like this:

    Barbie:Thomas Jane

    Junior: Michael C. Hall

    Jim Rennie: James Gandelfini

    Sam: Jessica Alba

    Chef: Christian Bale

    Julia: Sandra Bullock

    Piper: Laura Linney

    What do u think?

  • @petlover72704 When I think of Julia, I think of Laura Linney.

  • @Linguist1967 I love that! She would make a great Julia!!!!

  • @petlover72704

    Thomas Jane: Too old

Michael C. Hall: Are you joking? Junior's a sick asshole, not some mysterious pretty-boy!

James Gandolfini: Too gangster to be a car salesman

Jessica Alba: Too slim and WAY too hot to end up as an overweight trailer-trash junkie

Christian Bale: as loonie-toons Chef? WTF?

    Sandra Bullock: Too whiny-voiced

Linney might be the only suitable pick you have.

  • @petlover72704 How could Michael C. Hall play Junior? He is 40, and Junior was 20-something.

  • I never liked intial stephen king. But his writing has evolved and become deeper with each book. its like he went from horror to sci fi. I appreciate an author who keeps me guessing.

  • I generally enjoy mr. Kings works. It, Cujo, Salems Lot, and the Green Mile are among my favorite books. This one I really didn't enjoy as much :/

The Political allegories and his attempts to press you into accepting his liberal beliefs just really prevented me from being able to enjoy the story. From one of your biggest fans Mr. King, stay out of Politics. It's a horrible business and it's gonna end up costing you fans.

  • @DatSlowpoke

Is it a liberal belief to not want to be manipulated by sanctimonious fear mongers? Or was it the whole global warming thing that you didn't like?

  • @TheDharmaRecruit Both kind of got on my nerves to be honest. I'm not liking the way Mr. King's taking his career. He's straying more and more into becoming a tool for Liberal propeganda and less of a great writer as of late.

  • What did he say about the "baseball player"?? I can´t understand what he said. If somebody help I would really appreciate it.

  • I am SICK AND TIRED of people comparing this awsome book to the Simpsons movie. The only thing close to the book and the movie is the dome part. U don't no what caused the dome in UTD untill later in the book, but u learn in the begining of the SM what caused it, and the UTD book has no characters escaping the barier. unlike in the SM, the simpsons escape through a sink hole. Also, in the SM, the dome was from the government. Lastly, King thought of this in the 70s but didnt use it intill later!

  • @NicksHorrorReviews I understand how you feel. I have a webcomic & one character is Bucky Booster, Space Cadet. I didn't want the character to use weapons & I remember how George Lucas was the same way when Star Wars came out & I thought how could I make my own light saber? I thought about a two sided light saber, but then George Lucas comes up with the same idea for the new Star Wars movies & now nobody believes that I thought it up first back in the late 80's. True story from a cartoonist.

  • @NicksHorrorReviews People actually seriously compared this to the Simpsons movie? Ha ha. That's funny. I get what you're saying, I just wouldn't take it so seriously. Stephen King has a great sense of humor in my opinion. I think he'd laugh. Personally, I always thought of a very old movie I saw, where everyone in Washington D.C.? I think, were stuck behind an invisible wall and were like pets to an unseen force. The two do not compare in any way really, it just came up in my memory

  • Continued... In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with these comparisons, that's how SK got to be such a great writer. Again it's just my opinion. I'm just saying, relax, take it in stride, it's ok man.

  • @NicksHorrorReviews I hear you. But even before I found out he came up with it first, I liked how he took something that was in the Simpsons and made is very serious. If I were there I'd hate being trapped with those "Police", that was one of the most disturbing parts for me.

  • Stephen King puts the fun back in Funeral!

  • hello, Baaarbie...

  • Thanks a lot for posting this.

  • To everyone who's read Under The Dome. Nuick Nuick Nuick! Characters so realistic they are to die for. Sinister and realistic villians. Excellent Political allegory. Brillant writing and dialouge that puts Tarantino's to shame. Impressive work. The best yet from the best ever! It's a humanist drama with sometimes suddle and sometimes not so suddle bits of Horror thrown in.

  • @ProRanting Dude, "suddle"? Really?

  • Just finished it. OK book but in my opinion he completely fucked it up. Great idea but he went the wrong way. Why make it a town? Why not an island, a city like Manhattan that depends completely on incoming products to survive? No farms nothing. So then you would have people who have plenty of water by the Hudson and East rivers, but slowly run out of food and turn to cannibalism. Millions of people. So many mind blowing possibilities. Instead he turns it into another stupid alien book.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain Gee...thanks for ruining the book. Dumbass.

  • @123wickedsweet Don't worry. That minor detail hasn't much to do with the plot. I mean it may seem like a huge idea, but the main part is what happens undet the dome. Not who put it there and why. It was one of the best reads I've ever enjoyed. Don't let that Fucking fool who can't appreciate a good political allegory humanist drama novel ruin the book for you mate. The guy wants it on a damn island so there can be cannibalism Oooohh Cool! Don't listen to him.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain He did the town for a reason. It was a Politcal Allegory to show how smaller more in touch civilizations react under this kind of stress. He took the friendly small town and bent a sinister twist on it. You just wanted him to throw in cannibalism and have a good old straight dead faced King horror novel. Sorry Mate read Pet Sementary if you want that. This is much better. Get over the fact that nobody was biting each other's shins.

  • Oh god he looks like a monster!

  • Thats gotta suck that Stephen has been thinking about this book for over twenty years and when he finally gets down to writing and finishing it, The Simpsons movie comes out only a few months prior with the same idea. I wonder what he thinks of that?

  • @MMAniac718 lol right!! the simpsons probably got the ideas from stephen kings early fails

  • @MMAniac718 OMG.....I FORGOT ABOUT THAT..LMAO!!!

  • thanks for posting this.

  • Wow, he seems to have such a warm, kind personality for a guy who writes such dark and sinister novels! It's hard to believe THIS guy is the horror god.

  • @LiveForFunny I understand he has the reputation of being a kind and decent man and you certainly get that impression when he talks publicly and when he writes to readers in the forefront of his book. But what I like most about the man(apart from his obvious talent) is his honesty about the inner demons, 'the dark half' that he also has. I'd say that's true of all of us but the decent ones don't let the beast loose.

  • Stephen King's a legend.

But if you want to try reading the world's scariest short story... follow me.

  • Hey not trying to compare my self to the legendary stephen king but just letting people know about my first published book. "Rasciss" tells the story of a man named Hollowawk who literally defied death and now must face the wrath of petty gods, come onto my channel check out the video I made to promote my book. If u like what u see than pick urself up a copy and let me know what u thought about it

  • badass,

  • I would love to have lunch with him.

  • Very entertaining book, working my way throughout it on audible

  • That book is amazing! It may have been one of the most depressing things I ever read but I loved it! Suck it, Big Jim!!!

  • Check out "WARS OF TIMES by LUN"

at Amazon and Barnes&Noble online bookstore

A world like you've never imagined before!!

  • i have a headache quite often

and agression outburst, but i don't kill anyone ... yet

  • @buokopter thats, nice...

  • @buokopter Don't worry - you'll get better soon and start off with bits of violence here and there... Just don't force it and let it come naturally. You'll be out designing massacres in no time.

  • I read through this book with much anticipation and found myself stricken with boredum as I put it down a few days later. I couldn't believe that I made it through the entire thing. The story was dull and the only thing that enabled me to continue to push on were the little details here and there. It's not his best, or even a mediocre, work. I look to the future and what he may produce. As for now, I'm left wanting.

  • @HumaninSeoul You are so wrong. This book was one of his epics, not as good as 'The Shining' or 'The Stand', but still one of the greats. And, if on the slight chance that you still think this book is crap, fine, go right one better for me, then I might consider you to be right.

  • @SuperFlamingTomato

Your logic is hilarious. You feel that criticism can only be justified if the person making it provides a better element? I suppose you have no opinions on any subject apart from your expertise. You have the mind of a child. lol

  • @HumaninSeoul actually critism is actually supposed to have a better element to it, or at least try to offer one ( even on a public chat), you cant just say someones doing something wrong and then not try to help.

  • good book great book

  • good book

  • hey Stephen King thanks for sharing:):):) Like all artist that write there is a "girl talks about the masseur" at katieblueskiesnow

Ps... I think she offers something quite unique too! :):):)

  • really good book tons o characters, my fav is the cell cuz i love zombies.

  • @professorquack Yep, one of my favs too

  • First Stephen King book I ever read was Carrie, and from there I was completely hooked. I now own a bunch of his books that I'm reading, I love him.

  • @ronvins I got the same story =)

  • @SuperTekkenKing Sweet!

  • Goldfish bowl.

  • Kudos to Stephen King for botching the living hell out of the greatest series ever by putting HIMSELF in the story in the last Dark Tower book. Oh, and working in his political opinions into all his books now. I used to be a huge fan, but now I think he's just a pompous lefty asshole. And he looks like a creation from one of his stories.

  • He's an outstanding writer.

  • go Baaaarbie

  • This has been one of the best King books I've read since the days of "IT" and "The Stand". Once I started reading, it's so hard to put down. One of the things that kept me going is wanting so bad for Big Jim to finally get his. What a bastard.

  • Fabulous book. Fabulous author. But who let him out of the house with his hair looking like that?

  • I have never read a Stephen King book I've seen a sh*t load of his movies they were epic. But I want to read one of his books but witch one should I read? Any reccomendations?

  • @metalfreak4677 Read IT, it's so thick but you'll get through it fast, trust me. And also read Misery, Cujo, and definelty Pet Sematary and The Stand, which is even thicker than IT, IT is 1090 pages and The Stand (Complete and Uncut Edition) is 1141 pages

  • @StephenKingFan100 Thanks man.

  • @metalfreak4677 i suggest you to begin with Christine.

It's simple and the plot is extraordinary. The dead zone and The running man under the Bachman speudo are great to begin too. Fast to read and really enjoyable.

Hope i could help you :D

  • I would like to see Stephen King himself play the "hippie doctor."

  • Junior is one sik mofo lol GO Barbie

  • I love how the squirrel is included in the picture of characters.

  • masterpiece :o

  • what an amazing book, this guy can take you from a crap life to an amazing new place, what would i do without him?

  • Finished it. Biggest book I've read. Took me six days to finish. Truly and epic book. And the one person who dislike this book is a Twilight fan. -_-

  • Such an amazing book..

  • Just finished this. Epic.

  • It's just not fair that he be having so much fun......still. I am 50 and I have been reading him since I was 17. He's is the only person in the universe that I ...envy. I'd be him in a heartbeat...infirmities and all. Or just to be in his head for 3 minutes. Be able to laud greatness when you see it. He is a great writer.

  • I read this its the one of the longest books ive ever read and it was great!

  • @eerr5t2 It's a small town son, and we all support the team...

  • I'm around page 300 right now, loving it, a real page turner

  • I'm on about page 145, and so far I've only liked the first 80 pages where most people are getting killed or finding out about the dome.

  • one of the best books i think i have ever read.

  • I SMELL ANOTHER GREAT MOVIE!

  • Currently reading Just After Sunset. This book is a must buy for Me. Reading Stephen King books since I was 13 now I'm 37 He must be doing something right.

  • I just started reading this book, and i'm about 150 pages into it. I can tell already it's another fabulous SK book. I honestly think no writer will ever compare to King. People are commenting saying "he stole this idea"...theres a difference between theft and reinventing...hell has anyone seen The Simpsons movie? Isn't it basically the same concept? I'm sure everyone could write a story with their own characters about this subject and they would all be compleatly different

  • Books like this, and The Stand are difficult to get into. They're so overwhelming with all the characters that it feels really confusing and hard to keep track of all the names. But the books are so massive and so epic that by the time you get done with them, you know the characters as well as King himself. That was the case with The Stand at least, and I'm hoping it proves true as I continue with Under the Dome (which I started listening to in audiobook form yesterday.)

  • @JETZcorp I'm also a king fan lol. I think with the larger novels He's written you have to embrace the characters then the story itself becomes part of you. It seems you are maybe trying to rush the larger book's. Just let them breath. Nice one.

  • a couple days ago i seen a rainbow just before the sun went down and the first thing that came to mind was Under the Dome

  • HE JUST STOLE THE CONCEPT FROM MICHAEL GRANTS "GONE" SERIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE DID A REVIEW ON THE FIRST BOOK SAYING "this is great fiction i love these books" AND NOW HE HAS THE SAME BOOK ONLY WITH ADULTS AND A GLASS DOME WHAT IS HIS PROBLEM

  • @justafidemyself he didn't "Steal" the concept. If anything, he was most likely inspired. There's a difference.

  • this books amazing =)

  • Very good and satisfying read. I haven't read much of SK (that will be rectified very shortly), but I've never come across a more "love to hate" character than Big Jim Rennie. Suffice it say, he got his. Very engrossing and I actually liked the ending. I felt something like that was needed after the horrors that came before.

  • damn, does knowing that the book used to be called ''The Cannibals'' a spolier? Just started the book and don't wanna ruin it for myself.

  • @revengeguy no it doesnt

  • just finished it earlier today, not his best but it did have it's moments where it made me feel a little woozy. I'm more of a misery, rode madder, bag o bones kinda guy

  • This book is, by far, his worst.

  • @degree7 I doubt it, nothing can't beat a yawner like Insomnia. But then again, I'm only about thirty pages in right now.

  • @carlmelanson1

At least Insomnia had a pretty fantastic climax, and you know, actual SUPERNATURAL stuff going on. The book gave the readers a lot of questions, and they were answered. I thought the 'balloon' thing was pretty cool.

Under the Dome, I won't spoil it for you, but you'll find out why you will hate the book so much by the ending.

  • @degree7 Well . . . I do know this about Stephen King, his books and his movies are either really good or really bad, there's no in-between for this guy, so you're starting to worry me that I might have wasted 25$. Nevertheless, I think I will still enjoy it to an uncertain degree.

  • @degree7 thats bullshit. this was one of the most satisfying ending of any King book i've read. It's all up to the reader.

  • @butters226

The ending was sentimental slop you mad man.

  • @degree7 worse than lisey's story?

  • For some reason I imagined Jim Rennie as Rod Blagojevich. Yeah...don't ask.

  • just came out on paperback =) im starting, lets see how long it takes to get though a 1,072 page thriller hehee

  • big jims death was really unsatisfying. I was hoping he would die horribly

  • @jayyyyycob Don't write spoilers in the comments for chrissakes...

  • @reinforcedpenisstem sorry about that

  • @jayyyyycob You don't call what happened to him horrible?! o_O Go back and re-read that part and just imagine that being you. Also, considering all the stuff he had done? I think it was damn satisfying.

  • I'm reading it now. Love SK. Have all his books even the hard to find ones. Dolan's Cadalliac anyone? One thing, SK, you can't have CNN playing on the TV with no cable service!! LOL This book is great so far, and I expect it to be great throughout. Just hope it ends well. You never know how a SK book will end, good or bad. Cell's ending was frustrating, I kept looking for the missing pages!! LOL Junior Renny is creepy!!!

  • @rcoiteux stephen king is a god he does not mess around twilight fans bash on him all they want stephen king loves writing i have yet to read the twilight saga im starting the green mile tonight and maybe another one of stephen kings novels

  • @rcoiteux

Dad... are you still using this account?

  • GrEat booKs!

  • I heard he uses Botox. Like he's trying to be Harrison Ford or something. I don't know why he has to be so vain. He's just a bloody writer. Creepy old man.

  • i want to see stephen king on jeopardy just one more time

  • I just started reading this book about 10 minutes ago and I'm on page 35. So far, it's pretty good.

  • Just started reading this book yesterday. I can tell I'm really going to be absorbed in the storyline and its one of those books you'll just put yourself into and keep reading. King is a master story-teller, and one of my favorite authors. There is so much to be learned from this man!

  • I found this book at the thrift store an i bought it for 3 buck!!! I was going to buy it at barnes and noble for 34.99, i saved ALOT!! I love steven kings books, hes an amazing writer

  • Got through the first 650 pages or so. Pretty good.

  • Finished " under the dome " yesterday. For any writer that wants to learn how to write a book, this is the perfect book to read. Maybe its a little bit too long but that's debateable. S.K is my all time favourite Author and I want to be as good as him one day.

  • Oh Wow!!!! I'm 150 pages from the end and haven't loved anything he's written this much since IT and those little b&w likenesses of them that pop up here at 2.02 just complete this incredible read!! Can't work out which one is meant to be Dale Barbara though...Thanks Stephen. Incredible job!!!

  • I love Stephen King. I'm proud of the fact that he hails from New England.

Just finishing Desperation, and it was great.

  • @HylianSpirit Yep Desperation is one of his greatest. I think his epic tomes tend to be more successful than his "little" stories like From A Buick 8 and Misery.

  • Through the first 500 pages. Great so far.

  • I love King's works. It's his imagination that makes me want to expand my own.

  • Good Book!!

  • i just recently started the girl that loved tom gordon. i wanna trade and get this one from the library but they never seem to have it :[

  • The Tom Gordon Book is amazing really. Its basically about a young girl lost in the woods. How S.K manages to stretch that idea to an entire book is credit to him !

  • You'll be a reeling when Big jims a dealin!

Big Jim is one of his best characters so self centred.

  • Yay I just bought it, can't wait to read it!

  • Probably decided to finish the story after seeing the Simpsons Movie

  • @Arrowhead0006 he's said time and time again that he didn't even know about the simpsons movie and he's been trying to write this book for years since he was a young writer

  • Oh, sorry. Anyway, my friend actually mentioned this when I brought up the Simpsons movie. We're both big Stephen King readers. I'm actually in the middle of Cujo.

  • @Arrowhead0006

The novel is so much better than the film.

  • haha, i thought the same thing

  • Steve i could be under your dome with you anytime! let have lots of fun baby

  • YUCKY!!

  • Just finished reading it, great novel, but the ending... in my opinion it could have been ALOT better

  • Man, I was so dissapointed by the price tag on the book. 35 BUCKS!
