  • yellow flag at 0:23 on the right hand side

  • gelbe flagge bei 0:23 rechts

  • Ah well - shizzle happens. Upon the horsies again :)

  • Good thing you crashed into another car that moved at impact...if it was the barrier the damage could have been worse.

  • shit happens

  • I agree with Vova993 - I can't see it either.

  • What was the speed? It didn't look like it made that much damage! I thought Alfa was built like tanks!

  • @corollafrenzy - was only around 30mph if the data logger is to be believed but it made a real mess. Go to 7:20 to see what was left of the front right. Major chassis damage and completely smashed the exhaust for which we had no spare.

  • @MaxxUK Yeah, that is my reference picture. It didn't look that bad to be honest.

So you make it sound like had there been a spare exhaust, you can fix that?

Do you have a link to a build or a website for the car and its progress to the build state of race-car status? I would love to see it!!!

  • @corollafrenzy - No, the main problem apparrently was that the part of the chassis that holds the front right suspension arms was completely destroyed and the team didnt think they could fabricate anything. The exhaust was mashed also, and we had no spare. I dare say if the chassis was repairable we could have fabricated some sort of exhaust. Problem is runing an unusual car in that race means you struggle for spares, a BMW and we would have been fine (the team now run a 120d)

  • lol

  • Driver Coach? Even ignoring the crash, not exactly the best example of driving to be advertising your expertise...

  • how lucky was the z4 to miss the oil. that's racing.

  • oh no! brakes locked up

  • BTW, please note the button at the top right, this links to a higher quality version of the same video.

  • about the only other thing you could have possibly done was let off the brakes most of the way, and take some steering away, you still woulda bounced off the wall, but you would have missed the BMW and maybe saved some money on repairs. :) Stuff happens. I didn't notice the flags the first time either, but I did see the oil pretty clearly in the vid. As a driver, I can see how you missed it. Oh well, live and learn. Glad you are ok!

  • @vonjager thanks. I most definitely could have done as you say and may have even been able to stay on track. My problem was that I couldn't hear the tyres lock and it felt like a brake failure so I added lock to slow the car against the lateral grip of the tyre, as it was locked up it wouldn't do anything (prob did slow me a little more).

I didnt see the oil but can see it in the video, I was unlucky that it was my first lap out and I was still "getting my eye in" - oh well, as you say L&L :)

  • problema impianto frenante...comunque resta una delle migliori fwd di sempre

  • very good video, well made.

i like the way you explainedand described it. so i could follow your explaination. very good also is, the pictire at the and so we can see the result of the crash.

  • Awesome car! Bad luck about the crash though.

  • omg was that a smart car?

  • Only just read these, video put up for entertainment. Your welcome to your comment but read the txt next time. I couldn't see the yellow so I was at full speed on the racing line which had oil on it. I didn't BLAME anyone, just bad luck which cost our team 22hrs of racing and me quite a few thousand pounds.

  • whats the name of the main song?

  • Emerson,

See below. It is the theme music to a TV Show which was shown in the UK back in the 80s/90s called "World In Action". You may be able to find it online as "World In Action Theme"

  • you could tell that was not an italian driving....put tarquini in that car and u will see what he can pull out of it

  • No, I agree, it was not an Italian driving, I didn't him sound the horn for the BMW to get out of the way and didn't swear constantly for 5 minutes after the impact, or indeed blame the BMW driver for reversing into him.

  • its the theme to old 80s tv doc show World In Action!!

  • Ok...this is fast alfa156 but...this is still fuckink FWD so you got answer why you crash in this way...

  • I race RWD most of the time and I am not aware of them actually gripping on oil any better than FWD.

  • if you are interested in pictures of your accident, contact me!

  • i was standing right were you crashed!

  • yeah...good luck on the next race!

  • Video Response above (08:07) is a HQ version of this video.

  • Video Response above (9:48) is my quali lap from the race, again with telemetry.

  • Hmm

i dont see any flags :o

    anyways bad luck

ive watched the 24h race of the last 4 years

    and its like always:

someday the Greenhell will get you :)

  • Thanks for all the good wishes. I hope to get the external video soon.

  • what the name of song comin' at start of the vid please

  • thats just plain bad luck mate it even happens to the best drivers all the best for next year

  • i think the flag you see at 0.25 should of been a waving yellow rather then a stationary oil flag.

  • yeah, you can actually see the flag... but i know for sure that had i been racing i woulnd't have seen the flag either... Bad luck, my best wishes go to you for the repairs and next years race

    p.s.couldn't see the oil either

p.p.s. wouldn't mind seeing that outside vid if you get hold of it

  • Just bad luck dude. Next year will be better. From an Alfa 156 owner, greets from Chile.

  • Gutted :( , I have watched the video a few times and I still can't see the flags, or maybe I see them but don't know if thats a flag or not, I don't blame you...
